As a person who has played soccer for 35+ years & coached for 20+ years, I can also tell you that it helps athletes with decision making, vision, & advantage recognition. It's not a mystery to me why so many European basketball players that come to the NBA have such high basketball IQ's, excellent court vision, & such quick recognition of when they and/or their teammates have achieved a positional advantage.

I scored 28 senior year. I thought that was pretty impressive. But unfortunately never got recognized by my High School as soccer wasn't really a popular sport at our school. We weren't funded like baseball, softball, and Football and the popular kids wouldn't dare be seen on the soccer field. 23 as a Freshman on Varsity is very impressive and probably beats mine.
