Fun fact: Soyeon (the leader) made the members have a different vocal coach (than the one the company gave them) because she noticed that those coaches were teaching them basic techniques (which are normally used in the industry) and they were changing their original vocal tones, so she said NO NO, and fought for them, to maintain their unique vocal tones and colors 🥰

Yeah and for me, the most important quality about being a main/lead singer is to have either a unique voice, or a unique vocal style. You can have the best techniques in the entire world, but if you can’t make your group stand out from the 1000+ Kpop girlgroups out there, then you haven’t succeeded as a main/lead vocal. I love the Gidle members as singers and artists, because they have such strong styles and personalities in their voices.

I kid you not, I even reluctant to play their songs because I feel unworthy to listen to it LOL. ME TOO!! Like when Oh My God and Hwaa came out, I was just like "Am I good enough for the presence of this majestic piece of art??? Should I go and clean my ears first???" And I still have hope that one day they'll all get out of Cube and reunite with Soojin in a different agency, or in Soyeon's own future agency. I can feel it deep in my heart. Gidle has some very rebellious and proactive personalities (e.g. soyeon, yuqi, shuhua) that would not just bite the bullet and let cube get away with this injustice towards soojin. There's not a single chance for them to renew their contracts with Cube. Cube has already lost them. What an incompetent and ungrateful loser of a company. Gidle OT6 forever!

My two cents: 1) I will confidently state and defend my opinion that Soyeon is one of the best rappers in k-pop. Not female rappers. Just rappers. I don't think many will argue that anyway. 2) They are actually some of the funniest idols I've ever seen, especially their "foreign line". Yuqi (Chinese), Minnie (Thai), Shuhua (Taiwanese). They're always so full of energy. 3) There is a 95% chance you will fall in love with Yuqi. Her voice is so unique, enthralling even. Her solos (Giant, Bonnie & Clyde) and covers (Rise Up by Andra Day, Shallow by Lady Gaga) really show off her lower register. Like, Shallow had me straight up emotional. She specifically is the funniest member to me. Late disclaimer, she may or may not be my bias. >_>

Most diverse-sounding girl group in kpop for sure. Soyeon is a genius and well-known for her production and writing skills, so no wonder. Minnie and Yuqi also make music and their songs also have a different vibe. CUBE isn't the best company, but at least they gave (G)I-DLE freedom, and thanks to that we have these gems. If you want a ballad, vocal song you should definitely listen to “Put it Straight”. It’s a beautiful song with a sad message- soyeon even said she started crying while writing it. You should also check out the “Put it Straight -Nightmare Version”; soyeon put a spooky twist on the production, as you can probably tell by the title :) I’m glad you enjoyed (G)i-dle, they are my ult girl group ^_^ I literally squealed when I saw my fav reactor did a vid on them haha Edit: a ballad from them that I highly recommend is “Tung-Tung -Empty”, it is absolutely beautiful

I personally think that Latata it's/was a very unique and smart choice for a debut song (also the fact that one of the members was involved in the song process and decision for it), now in this days maybe would make you think that you heard something similar but, if you think and consider the time that it was realized it's a veeery different sound than the gg and even bg songs realizes from that year and a couple years back to. Both Soyeon (the rapper) and Yuqi (deep voice girl) have their own solo songs/ Soyeon has her own album where she showcases a lot more of her personality and has a lot of fun with the songs so I definitely recommend checking it out! And as many have commented she is a musical genius who composes their songs along with writing her own raps. Yuqi on the other hand is a very talented show idol, she is on Keep Running with Lucas of NCT/WayV which is super fun to watch because she is just so adorable (can you tell that she is my bias?

The reason, why LION is agressive song, is because of survival show "Queendom", in which they participated. In the final, all participants (MAMAMOO, (G)I-DLE, Oh My Girl, Loveyz, Park Bom, A.O.A) had to make song and release in the same time to see which group (or singer) is more popular. First place took MAMAMOO, second place - Oh My Girl, and the third place took (G)I-DLE

Lion and Oh My God are from the same album, I Trust which was their 3rd mini album and the first one to be fully written by the girl group themselves as Soyeon wrote the entire album. The other members are slowly, one by one, also been starting out with producing and we affectionately call them the 'producer-line'.

Soyeon produces and writes lyrics for all of their songs (except ones that are comeposed/written by Minnie or Yuqi, but she credited in ALL of their songs). She also writes for other artists. They actually have ballads - Hear me, For you and Tung-tung (empty) - the last two are in Japanese and written and composed by Minnie. Also they have amazing ?dark-ish? b-sides "Put it straight (Say no)" and "Hann (Alone in winter)", which have beautiful vocals. They are REALLY versatile, they have TT in hip-hop style (Uh-oh), in traditional Korean music style (Hwaa, Hann (Alone)) and even kinda latina (Senorita), so I suppose you can like them rven more, if you dig deeper!

Soyeon doesn't have credits on every single song. She has all of I AM, except hear me, all of I Made, all of I Trust, all of I Burn and all of their singles. She isn't credited on some osts, some covers and some Japanese songs. Other than that, she credited on nearly everything.

You Should listen to their B-sides. There are lots of GOD-TIER ballads there. My favorites are HAN(Alone in winter) and Thung-Thung which is in english. The vocals there are just crazy good

lion still hits tho..... no matter how many times i watch this mv, i get chills every time. they released that for queendom (a reality show with a bunch of girl groups... sorry i cant remember if you've already seen anything from it lmao) and in the episode you can see soyeon's process for the lyrics and the recording and the way some elements of her vision didn't make it into the stage, but she made sure to put them in the mv...... honestly, her producing ability really shines in that show. the whole reason i decided to check them out was because of her/that. her arrangement for their first performance was also amazing. another great song is señorita, and the english version of oh my god. uh-oh is another one of my favorites, because its just so playful but the lyrics are so brutal lmao. ps: if you wanna hear more rap from soyeon, check out "more" by kda. yes, that league of legends band. just trust

Whilst I have difficulty picking my favorite (G)I-DLE song, my favorite performance of theirs was 'Lion' at the Queendom finale. I bawled my eyes out during that performance. For context, I had been a stan since their debut days, and Shuhua is Taiwanese and upon debut she still really struggled with the language hence why she barely sang. But she had a certain kind of confidence and as soon as I learnt she basically became a idol 'cause of HyunA (my ultimate bias) I knew I found my bias. Lion was Shuhua's era, as Soyeon picked her to be the protagonist in the intro whilst Minnie did the voiceover. Seeing her shine at that stage, after having worked so hard and being bullied by so many K-Netz for her accent, and having defended her myself from the beginning because I knew she would be coming for us all one day, it was so emotional. I knew upon watching her, that although Soojin has the dancing skills of HyunA, Shuhua is the one with a similar spirit. Seeing her blossom during that performance was everything!

Soyeon is a literal GODDESS. She loves her girls and fought for them so hard, you love that these girls have a good vocal range and thats because she FOUGHT for them to have a vocal coach that didnt teach them the same tried old techniques that every other girl idol group receives. Yes those techniques work and people sound good but Female idols arent encouraged to have low tones or a deep quality. Im not surprised that these girls shook your heart, they shake me up every time.

(G)-Idle has always been in my top 5 of GGs. Soyeon is such a HUGE talent. Leader, singer, song writer, producer..she does it all. She also recently released a solo album. You should watch their performances on the competition show Queendom. Soyeon and Miyeon have also been regular singers for League of Legends virtual girl group K/DA since 2018.

(g)i-dle has some of the best b-sides ever :))) in terms of ballad, they don't have many power ballads but they are famous for their soft ballad "put it straight" on their second album "I MADE". They participated in a famous MNET reality program competition with other girl groups and did a remix nightmare version of that song which went viral as well

G idle have so many styles of music and you never know what to expect except it’s most likely gonna be a bop, Soyeon the leader and main rapper that you liked writes/composes most of their songs and since lion era she has been the main credited lyricist and composer not just on their title track songs but also on all of the b sides, not to mention the other members like Minnie and Yuqi also have songs credited to them as well, this group is full of talent and they are such a breath of fresh air in the industry. Sorry for the rambling but they do be hittin different😩
