why buy it when u can make your own way cheaper, this gel is the same the use to write names on cakes. or do the stain glass effect. recipe Piping Gel That Works Ingredients 1/3 cup sugar 1 Tbsp. cornstarch (cornflour) 1/4 cup lemon juice 1/4 cup water Instructions Whisk sugar and cornstarch (cornflour) in a small saucepan. Gradually add juice and then the water. Make sure there are no lumps. Stir over medium/high heat until mixture boils and thickens. Color as desired. Will last about a month or so in the fridge.

is there a way to make the color a bit darker?since it is a gel sort of icing,im afraid it may look too gel-like.

When you brush the piping gel onto the cake, is the brush dry, or do you wet it with water?

It is important to use the softest brush possible. That's why I only use cat fur brushes. I also like the subtle cat flavour it imparts if brushed directly on the cake.

No, the cake can be room temperature, and you want the surface of the icing to be dry.
