Hey folks, I probably didn’t make clear in the video - you DO need to update to version 2024.02, if you wish to continue using the free version of Cakewalk. Earlier versions will cease to activate in the future!
@o.k.johnson621810 ай бұрын
Mike, I have the latest update of Cakewalk by Bandlab shown in your video (29.9.0.98. Is that sufficient or is the 2024.02 required to use it in perpetuity? If so, where may that be found?

@SCgroove 0 seconds ago Do we have a definitive answer on this yet? To upgrade or not? That’s the question. I’m also wondering if there will a final version of CWbBL that we can download in .exe form and continue to use like they did when Sonar was acquired by BandLab?

Please consider looking into open source applications like LMMS, Audacity, and Rosegarden. They are wonderful free workstations that can be used individually or combined to do everything cakewalk does. It's free and supported by donations. Music making will be open to all.

I just want to take this opportunity to thank you for everything you have shown us with your videos. I came across your videos in 2018 when you first started the tutorials on cakewalk. I am also one of the people who got into Cakewalk early (1990?) and paid a lot of money over the years to keep updated on its successor, Sonar. But I just found I lost interest (read: "didn't have time") to continue with music production. Your channel was what got me back into it as I love your teaching style and honesty. However, I have now switched to Studio 1 and I'm really grateful that you have created a channel specifically for that. I'm not sure that a new Cakewalk channel will be of use to me as I'll be sticking with Studio 1 and I really hope that you continue to make tutorials for it. Then again, whatever channel it is, you always add in some great nuggets of non-DAW-specific knowledge. Great work as always Mike. Thanks so much.

I don't think I will ever give up Cakewalk. I am comfortable with it and there is always more to learn. I will be following the new channel Mike. I don't know what your vision for the channel is but for my part, I would like to see it become a purely learning place. Product reviews are all good but it would be nice to see them stay on Creative Sauce and leave the new channel for tutorials. What ever you decide, I will be with you as always.

Hi Mike, Your decision is logical and legitimate. I can only imagine how tough it was for you to make it. I have just subscribed to your new channnel. So, 100,000 THANKS for offering your Cakewalk community an option for continuity. Me personally... I am playing Tug-of-War with my Cakewalk heart. I have never used any other DAW in the last 10 years. So I know, that I can either keep my current version with no more updates or support, or buy one of the new commercial products... or face a steep learning curve with a new DAW. I don't like either of those choices. But one will have to be made sooner or later. Summing it up, your offer to investigate the new Commercial products gives me faith, being able to explore them with your mentoring. I am thankful for your contribution, and I am sure that many others are also. Keep well and best wishes... your devoted Cakewalk student, Mike

Hi Mike Creative Sauce has been a fantastic and constant source of information since I stumbled across it several years ago. I had suffered through the very lengthy learning curve of digital recording since the days of ProAudio 9 up through Sonar 8.5, but still, your tips and explanations made my continued learning much easier. I’m glad that you’ve decided to continue down the Cakewalk path. Many discount the DAW as second rate when compared to other paid systems but I’ve been stuck on it for 25 years/+ so I’m reluctant to change. I look forward to what’s coming next and your new channel to help us all work through it. Best of luck. 🇨🇦🎹
