WOW! This is an "ear full" of information. I have osteoporosis and am inclined NOT to take calcium supplements and NO prescribed drugs for me. I'm stuffing myself full of leafy greens and doing weight-bearing activities. Thank you!

Thank you! I have all my doctors telling me I need calcium (osteopenia, mainly from chemo). I have been doing research and you are only the second doctor to tell us about the cons of taking calcium supplements. I have always had a pretty healthy diet and am probably getting what I need. I know I will no doubt frustrate my doctors at my next round of visits but I was shocked at studies that recite a higher incidence of heart attacks. A very easy decision to make given there is little to no evidence it will prevent a hip fracture! Thank you for citing the different studies to help me make a more informed decision about my health.

Dr. Ken thank you for your enlightenment video on Calcium Supplement. I'm 86 years old and a great grandfather. I do not take calcium supplement; but I take a Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin] 1000mcg which includes calcium of 220mg, and a vitamin D3 1000IU which also includes calcium of 74mg daily. I take these two vitamins for more than 2 years now. In 2020 when the Covid-19 Pandemic hit the world, I increase my daily intake of vitamin D3 to 5000IU thus the calcium increases 74mg x 5 = 370mg per day. I declined covid-19 virus vaccine vaccination even today decline. Our bones do not depend on calcium supplement but on strong muscles and weight training is the solution. That said Dr. Ken, the calcium in vitamin B12 and vitamin D3 are okay since they blend with the vitamins for absorption. Your comment please.

Sounds like you’ve done your homework. However, please take methylcobalamin B12, not cyano. Methyl is the natural form while cyano is the synthetic form and contains small amounts of cyanide. Premier Research make an excellent methyl b12.

Also look into RNA Reset’s ReMag (magnesium) and ReMyte (trace minerals/electrolytes). Both are liquid gold and taste terrible. But then most things good for us don’t taste nice. I also take kelp (another perfect example of what tastes terrible is good for us 😂).
@johngoh767 Жыл бұрын
@@annalane5430 Thanks Anna, I know B12 methylcobalamin is a better form of B12. It is okay with a little cyanid in Cyanocobalamin. It is the 220mg calcium that I'm worried about in the long run.

After taking calcium need to wait a few hours before taking zinc ? What about the A-Z multi-vitamins? They have everything mixed in a single pill.

My understanding is the minerals compete for absorbtion. I separate my magnesium, zinc, selenium, copper, etc. supplements when I take them by 4 hours. I don't take multivitamins for that reason and the fact I'd rather taylor my vitamin intake. But I'm not a doctor or expert, etc., etc.

@@itsm3th3b33 lolkay dude. If you're curious, which you don't seem to be in the least, it is generally presumed that any amounts below 250mg of a mineral will not adversely effect absorbtion of other minerals, which is why multivitamins are presumed effective with all minerals bioavailable. It's not hard to find this information.

my query also esp since i read that certain minerals etc should be taken at diff times of the day. unfortunately i have a whole bottle of cal + d = $$ and am contemplating what to do. the info is a bit confusing too. there is a docs subscription of 1 tab per day i think followed up with a shot once a month with pages of side effects. told the doc not doing this thankyou he dismissed me!! i gave up on docs then. eat as much varied organic goods even frozen and hope for the best. 🦘

The hip breaks and then you fall. Even a CNA is taught this; and EMTs. Another video I watched indicated that acidophilus is responsible for bone building. Why does one person say our immune system depends on our gut health and another says our bones build our immune defense?

Title is calcium so focus is more it incl it’s relation to OP vs OP itself. He does say to get out, exercise esp bal and weight bearing (search YT lots of videos w/help). Dr Hollick videos for sun vs Vit D. Search drugs that effect bone health and talk to MD for alt. OP is more a process then disease to be cured. It’s quality of bone vs just density. Lots of info and easy to find. Don’t focus on supplements of the day that prob like calcium and D will show in 5 yrs to not be as sold.
