My tip for a newbie is to be sure to include the getting ready for the task and the cleanup or winding down time after the task... For instance, taking the kids to school is a 30 minute drive time, but I couldn't figure out why it always took so much longer... Until I really started watching... After breakfast, I blocked take the kids to school. Well, it didn't seem like it took them 20 minutes to get out the door, into the car. That 30 minute drive time was if we hit every light green and the freight train was on time. I should have blocked the longest it takes and if I finish early, what would it be like to just sit for 5 minutes? And I hadn't been blocking the errands I ran on the way to the office. No wonder I was stressed by the time I got to get a coffee and sit down at work. Sending lots of love💖 from sunny 🌞 Arizona 🌵. Take care of yourselves 😷.

Being someone who works from home, figuring out my personal planning system was easy. But then I realized I wasn’t getting my work done as much because I was all over the place. I duplicated my personal system for work (cause it’s working for me) and now pull ALL my work and personal priorities in my single daily spread and I feel so much more in control!!! My time blocking I was doing for personal makes so much more sense for my work needs too now.

new to your page and this makes sense. I have lost my way/self discipline - I was a filo fax girl but need something that works for me in todays work/life

I use analog materials. Hobonichi Cousin, Frixion pens to allow for erasing in case something unexpected comes up.

I use a paper planner for time blocking for personal and for work I use my digital calendar.

I would like to try and do the time blocking method. I do feel all over the place with planning ATM. Can you do a video on weekly review. I like how you explain things.

I have used color blocking for years writing out different classes, types of tasks etc in different color of ink. Recenently I have nerve damage to mu hand which makes my writing time much slower. Then I had the idea of small stickers. Rather than writing Class 1 at 10 am on M W F I assign two colors to the task: a bright red dot is when the class is in session and a lighter red dot indicates time for studying. This not only saves a lot of time but makes my calendar look less cluttered. Having it less cluttered enables me to feel less overwhelmed.

Instead of filming your hands, can you film yourself.
