I just tested my stock 2019 Mustang GT PP2 with my digital sound level meter. On quiet mode, at the same height of the exhaust pipes, 19.5 inches from the exhaust tips, the meter pointed at a 45 degree angle, it registered 95.5 decibels at 2500RPM. For fun, I also tested on track mode. It registered at 98.2 decibels at 2500RPM.

I'm pretty sure my 2019 GT PP1 non-active exhaust is around 95 db at 3000-5000 rpm. I'm really surprised how much louder it is vs my 2017 GT when it was stock. The cold starts sound about as loud as the MBRP street cat-back system I eventually put on my 2017. The stock 2018 GT +mufflers are definitely more free flowing and/or have less sound absorption.

This is a good change. My buddy had to live with someone across his street who woke him up every morning firing up his Mustang. He left notes on the Mustang with no relief. This law went into effect and noticed the Mustang no longer affected him. Another neighbor informed him the Mustang owner got cited and decided to change out his exhaust.

They need to make a mod that quiets your exhaust when with a button inside the car. So when I get pulled over I'll just hit the switch take have him test me and pass :)

California isnt the only state. To do it. Massachusetts did it a while ago. Our town in NJ had the law since the 90s.

everywhere has it. but most places dont aggressively enforce it like Cali is now pushing. And it definitely isn't a $1000 fine + $700 additional fees!

I have a Borla Exhaust on my ST I love it, and at REDLINE it maxes my phone at 87db. But I heard that cops wont let you test yourself on the side of the road because of the noise pollution. Should I be worried?

A loud exhaust doesn’t equate to street racing. That’s engine modifications and being visually caught in the act. How is making someone quiet down their exhaust... going to stop them from fuckin street racing? People with “sleepers” are normally quiet as day, and be pushing 400 - 1000hp, and race quietly all the damn time! This shit is beyond me😤

I just checked my 2018 ZO6 (stock) in ECO, Touring, Sport, and Track mode. The results is in idle all modes are under 95 db with the sound level meter Meterk model MK09 at 19 inches away at 45 degree angle on an even plain with exhaust tips. However with it at 2500 rpms on all modes they are over 95 db of course sport and track mode are louder. Economy and touring mode is around 93 to 106 db. Ugh.... this sucks. I guess I will drive and keep my rpms at 1500 and hope no cop wants to funk with me.

Im not in CA but still interested in whats happing with stock cars that are more then 95 and theres many cars even SUVs. Like say range SVR , Jag SVR, and many exotics

Well I am glad I have an active exhaust that I can close the baffles in my tailpipes. Here’s to hoping that chp hasn’t pulled over many Shelby GT350s and know about that.
