"You deserve to be in this pack of women." I love that phrase. Thank you. I needed to hear that. I want that phrase to be true for me too someday. I'm registered for The Mid Souths 12 mile "inspiration" ride, NW+40. It will be my first gravel race. I'm not ready. But I've committed myself to training this year so I can eventually claim this phrase myself. It's an important race for me. I started riding with the goal to race, to help keep me motivated to live life after loosing my parents to age, and then my 23 yo daughter to her struggling mental health. This year, I'm ready to commit to the racing. Using the Mid South then the Oklahoma XC race series, Tour de Dirt, to officially start my ride/race goals. And, Chase my own Daydream. Thank you for sharing this adventure. Its a breath of inspiration I needed to hear and an experience I needed to see. I dont know if im going to enjoy Gravel racing. I ride XC trails. And dont do road. But, I wanted to do something new for my daughters 3rd missed birthday. I miss her so much. All i want to do is finish the 12 miles and get my feet wet to gravel racing. See if maybe I wiould like it too. But this year is dedicated to making me a better rider and more prepared racer. So that I too can say,,"I deserve to be in this pack of women." Competing for a win. Not just a finish. This video is gold to someone just starting out on this long hard journey. Thanks again.

Damn that brought me back. Was one helluva day. Like Sarah said, you just keep going. What didn't really get mentioned was how hot it got in the latter middle portion (when Alexis was struggling). Everything was muddy already so that rain at the end and how it cooled things down was glorious. I was right there with Dani and Sarah during that last mud section. Pretty much just wanted to finish by then but they were still racing hard so I just tried to stay out of their way lol. All the feels for Paige, I know how much that race meant to her 😢 Better watch out for her there this year, she's going to come in ultra-motivated.

Yeah, I was at that meet when he said if it's a little bit muddy, it stays in. Sure, it's supposed to be hard, but its also supposed to be a bike race. Hiking 4 miles of mud 11 miles in was ridiculous.
@fransencomesalive11 ай бұрын
Lifetime, you've done some incredible things for the sport but I gotta say... 200 miles is HARD. 200 miles of gravel is HARD. 200 miles of gravel in bad weather is HARD. But responding to criticism of the bad section last year by saying "it's supposed to be hard" is very lame.
