Chrisal brings back memories of her grandmother's cooking with this callaloo recipe. While callaloo is a dish made in different ways with different ingredients across the Caribbean, they all share some commonality with the influence from our West African heritage.
Add pigtail or crab for another dimension of flavor and serve with rice, provision or even have it on its own as a soup.
Special thanks to Cuisine for sponsoring this recipe. Cuisine products can be found at Massy Stores nationwide.

This host has a naturally, friendly, infectious personality. This was so nice to watch. I can do the menu she mentioned too, just the Callaloo with some rice and stew chicken and I'll add some home made lime pepper sauce. The finished product looks amazing. 💯

The reason why your grandmother took all sections of the leaf and threw away the stem, is because you are cooking with Taro leaf, which when cooked with its' stems/veins incorrectly gives you itchy throat. So by throwing away all the veins in taro leaf, your grandmother eliminated the itchy throat 'syndrome'-clever lady. Fiji Indians also have a similar dish like Callaloo and it is called 'Raro'. Leaves cooked in garlic, onion and bit of cumin and then added with cocoanut milk and left to simmer-delicious. So interesting to see various other vegetables added to your dish.

Where have you been hiding Chrisal Martin? This was one of your best videos, she is very engaging, she told stories about the dish and her childhood memories, she grabbed the viewer attention, she spoke clearly as she explained what Callaloo is, no moment of silence, and she always talking about the dish and the process, most important she plugged the sponsor at the key moments, I could go on and on about this lovely lady; I think many will agree with me when I say we need to see her on more!! Great job ♥️🙏
