So because one swath of the population can't get a medical procedure because they don't have the parts for carrying a fetus, no one should be able to get it....what? Oh ok, so since people without prostates can't get prostate cancer, NO ONE should be able to get prostate cancer treatment. The logic, it's trash xD

This guy's name was Yash, I think. Coincidentally, my name is Yash. I have always wanted to call on MR to tell them what a fantastic job they do. It's anecdotal, but this guy makes me sad about being named Yash. In middle school and high school history in India, we read about abhorrent practices that women had to follow, like self-immolation on their husband's funeral pyre (read about sati practices). Widow remarriage was not allowed for centuries. Women are still forced to stay away from any celebrations if they were widows or if menstruating. Even right now, menstruating women are said to make the house impure in some parts of Indian society. We have come a long way, but there is still a long way to go. Many parts of India are still horrible to women. What a jackass. My sincere apologies to the MR crew. There are more aware Indians listening to your show. Thank you 🙏

My wife really wants to get a hysterectomy after having 2 kids and is 36, the doctors said no because she might want to have kids in the future, which she won’t. So I looked into a vasectomy and they asked me if I would want more kids and I said no and they agreed to do the procedure. Yes women are treated differently, like they don’t know what they actually want.
@casebased8391

That’s selfish of you to have *her* undergo a major surgery with huge side effects (quicker menopause, hot flashes, mood swings, pelvic floor dysfunction) just because y’all don’t wanna have more kids, after she’s already gone through 2 pregnancies. Vasectomy is a smaller procedure with less side effects, yet *she* was the one who had to ask to go under the knife *first* lol. Also vasectomy can be *reversible*, while a hysterectomy definitely ISN’T. Looks like the sexist one here is you, not the doctors. Your wife can get a *bilateral tubal ligation* which the doctors will be more than happy to do. But I guess that won’t fit your agenda of calling everything sexist. 😂

Meanwhile hysterectomy is 100% effective and like I said before my wife knows all of the benefits and symptoms but the doctors still think she might change her mind. We can not afford another child and are happy with our family as is, but doctors and law makers are stopping her from doing things to her body she knows she wants. Another really important thing that people never mention in this whole "The draft is unfair" argument is that they always ignore who is doing the drafting. It's not women who are running the military and drafting people. It's not women who are in power who are starting the wars. Also, it completely ignores the fact that in all wars women suffer. Is it maybe because women were and are viewed by society as too weak and fragile to join the military? The draft isn't the way it is because women are privileged, it's because when it was created women were considered less than men and men didn't want to send their property off to die in war. Nor was there any restraint shown to civilian women killed and raped during conflict, the 'collateral damage'. The stale argument that men have to fight the wars is neither worthy of a male ego stroke or their claimed unfair, special burden. Russia bombed a maternity hospital in Ukraine, one poor woman was injured (sadly fatally) while in active labor. Do not claim men suffer more than women in war. Also it is not women who direct men to war, it is government. Most mothers and wives would not send their dearest to war. Equality for women does not come at the expense of men. I do not understand men who think it does.

The flaw in caller’s argument is that he thinks pregnancy is easy and “health neutral” (no health risks associated). Compare percentages of women who die from pregnancy and childbirth related complications vs men who are conscripted into war and die. Add to that the fact that men may serve a couple of years of war and then be done with combat service for the rest of their lives. With Roe vs Wade overturned women face this risk of death with each pregnancy for ALL of her fertile years.

The indian caste system is alive and well. The Indian community that cloisters together, imports this caste to America. I've lived within these communities. The domestic abuse is off the charts. Sometimes the abuse is physical, much of the time is psychological. Narcissistic mama's boys, who cannot break away, because much of the time, mama lives with them. The abuse goes unreported. Women are terrified of being thrown out, and ostracized by their community. The upper middle class India families tend to live in HOA communities, which close ranks. The next generation of girls are learning they have no worth (eating disorders, suicidal ideation, depression) and boys are infantalized (narcissism, codependence, depression, anxiety). All out of step in today's western society. There are plenty of Indian families that live outside the bubble, too.

Sam had a good answer, but I was thinking it was a wierd question to be posing. Like, would you rather be forcibly coerced into a role with the armed forces (that could be definitionally noncombatant or posted in a non-dangerous assignment) and have to work there for a few years after which you likely enjoy the full freedom society has to offer, or spend your ENTIRE LIFE as chattel with extremely limited (if any) rights. This guy doesn't seem to have thought anything through at all. I was sympathetic to MRAs in the past because I think the conflation of men with the ruling classes can be overdone and the vast majority of men have been treated as expendable commodities by those in power and this can easily be lost in rhetoric. But the amount of men abducted to die in wars or die in coal mines or abandoned to one form or another of effective slavery should be an argument for class solidarity, and generally MRAs see it instead as an aggrievement that can win them some fanciful pissing contest that can make them prove that women are supposedly a protected class who need to be taken down a notch, because annoyingly MRAs are, first and foremost, about resenting women. I think it's a real shame because men certainly do suffer from parts of the gender divide in society, but the entire discussion about it has been poisoned by angry people with no real perspective.

What's wild is that owning a uterus is it's own kind of draft (especially without reproductive rights). Both military training and childbirth is required to keep a country relatively stable but worldwide, 3x more women die in childbirth than men die in war per year. Yet men get paid/ to be in the military and women have to pay hospital bills for even healthy births. In ancient Sparta only dying in battle or childbirth got you a marked grave. I can only foresee some sort of UBI/universal healthcare to rectify this imbalance. Women's unpaid labor is estimated to be in the trillions. Reproductive labor is taken for granted. We switch back and forth between describing the beauty and violence of childbirth based on rhetorical expedience. We've got military statues/celebrations out the wazoo in this country but almost none to women who've died in childbirth in entire country. Maybe falling birthrates will give women leverage. So far it's just getting our rights revoked.

It's not just being an MRA. This is what makes a right winger different from a left winger: hierarchy. Lefties want to undermine and dismantle them to varying degrees (center vs far left) while right wingers want to support and create new ones to varying degrees (center vs far right). This caller is a right winger not because he's an MRA, but because he actually believes that hierarchies are justified even if they result in widespread oppression and brutality against those on lower rungs than him. For him, men are above women so it's only natural that women be treated as lesser beings. If you look at ANY ISSUE that the left and right are actually divided on this is what it comes down to. There's always a hierarchy that places higher value on one group than another, and that difference in value justifies gross disparities in treatment, the rejection of empathy, etc etc etc.

@@areuarealman7269 It would be easy to just ignore your post because I don't see it as useful, but I think giving you feedback on why your post will probably draw a lot of "who cares" attitudes so that you can improve and make your posts more relevant and useful. I mentioned empathy once in the context of what hierarchy justifies to support and maintain the hierarchy. To a leftist the homeless and destitute deserve "all the empathy" simply because leftists are humanists (which is anti-hierarchical, though there are obviously leftists who don't fully commit). To a rightist the homeless and destitute MAY deserve "pity" and even scorn simply because rightists see things through a more hierarchical lens. Leftists generally agree that the homeless and destitute *should be uplifted* instead of merely being "treated kinder," while rightists see them more as a nuisance or even as a way to earn "saintly" points by "treating them kinder" while not actually doing anything to uplift them (a common mentality on the right is "it's up to them as individuals, after all. If they don't work hard enough, etc etc etc, then they don't "deserve" more than kinder treatment as homeless and destitute leeches on society"). My whole point was to highlight the difference between left and right as being one of a differing position on hierarchy (left rejects, right supports), since empathy and other things commonly claimed as being the difference are actually shared between them according to different standards, and to use that fact as a way to explain why Men's Rights Activists are fundamentally a right wing group. But again, your post doesn't address what I wrote, nor does it address the video, so it's hard for people to care about comments that seem really out of place and a bit incoherently "general." "Empathy jumps out the window without food and shelter." Empathy for who? Empathy from who? What does the lack of food and shelter do for who is being empathized with, or who is empathizing? What message are you trying to spread that goes beyond a "bad stuff is bad" level of commentary, and what does it have to do with what I was saying (you posted in response to what I wrote, after all), especially within the context of the video? "in war or not thats why homeless people should be treated kinder." Again, what's the greater message and what does it have to do with what I was saying? When specifically asked most people will agree with you because "bad stuff is bad," and they don't want to accept that their views coincide with the "bad stuff," but how does that statement fit into anything beyond being an overly general statement? If you don't want to say more because you don't think people will care then you should make sure that what you DO say is useful to the conversation (it doesn't merely say "yeah!" whenever a generic "this is bad" statement is made, but provides some deeper thought or critique) and contextually relevant; my post was about hierarchy, so your response to it should have built on or critiqued what I wrote about hierarchy, or made some connection to it as you focused on a sub-topic. If neither of those things are the case then it would be better not to post at all, at least not until you've formed a better response, because a lot of people will ignore it because it adds nothing to the conversation.

This is a common theme in the manoshpere. The reason so many fall for the argument is because it is decontextualised. So using the pay gap argument doesn't work with these guys. I suggest that a more effective line of argument is to ask the caller, on a time line of say 200 hundred years, to graph men and women's rights and identify when women began to have more rights than men. Example: Circa 1800 list all men and all women's rights. Circa 2023 what rights have men lost and what rights have women gained? Hopefully they will understand that in 200 years, fundamentally, men haven't lost any rights. So the only way women today can have more rights than men is if they have been given extra rights. The caller should then explain what those extra rights are and when the change happened. That's where they come unstuck

Although those questions often seem largely academic, it's very useful tool to argue with racists. Especially with the sorts of racists who complain about "how good" minority groups have things. Not to mention just how dishonest it is to not bring up the fact women get pregnant and have children causing them to often leave the work force. Those two factors right there pretty much make up the entire wage gap. What segments like this do is cause girls to literally think that if they apply for a job they will probably get 82 on the dollar for the same position as a man woujd which is just laughable. This is pure propaganda and pushes narratives to divide just as bad as the Right does.

@Trevor V Looks like the wage gap is only slightly less than men for the same job now...as long as women remain childless (Emma's statistics are off). What else did you notice? The studies clearly show there is a child penalty for women. Across the board, occupations dominated by women are less valued...certainly true for stay at home moms but also true in the job market. Women take a big hit having children. Not just physically, their ability to earn an income is significantly reduced. Unfortunately, I don't see a remedy until the work day is shortened so that both mom and dad are able to share job and child care equally.

And is this a bad thing? I certainly would prefer my wife being the influence over my children and not some day care or babysitter. This is nature of women the relationship between women and their babies, and it’s how it’s been for hundreds of thousands of years.
