Another interesting video, thanks Teresa! What a pain RE gas bottle, I used a 3.9kg to use the stove in my shed when I’ve been booted out the house by the missus. Thanks for the info but will be a pain using the 6kg now!

Hi Teresa, I use Camping Gaz Cylinders R907 6lb all year around in a beach hut and never had a problem, I know about the -2 temperature and if you never use your camper when its below freezing the R907 might be an option you will need a new regulator and check your cooker can be used on Butane gas, I got my set up cooker/ gas/ regulator from a caravan and mobile home suppliers, I have a digital carbon monoxide detector and never had a problem.

@teresasworld3374 Жыл бұрын
Hi Simon, that's great and I'm pleased you wrote to tell me what works for you and thanks for the information. The R907 holds 2.72kg ... it's quite a bit smaller... than the 3.9kg. I use my gas for cooking (x2 hobs/grill) boiling a kettle and even the fridge when Im not on electric hookup - I also have gas heating if need be, so I feel the R907 isn't quite big enough. But! Never say never... adapting the cupboard might prove more difficult than I'm anticipating... so it's good to know all options. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment. 🤗

Hopefully see some more soon I was away this weekend with our caravan at a muddy motor racing circuit and saw a few campers like yours! and a few tents brave people, I have never had so many problems as I did Friday and Saturday ever in my life caravanning ! Was a challenge but we can overcome them we are adaptable gas is something we don’t have to use it is convenient but not necessary look at other options before adapting or giving up! 😊

hi teresa another option is a wallas duo cooking unit which can be plumbed into a diesel/petrol tank and it also works as a heater for the van downside they aint cheap but considering duo roles or if needed they have one with a oven its a option that stops using gas ie safer and heating the van just make sure you have fuel in the tank and good to go ,not sure on the electrics side of this so you would need a power of electric to make it run it will be low power so leisure battery should do it

Hi Sam, thanks for watching this video and the advise. I like the convenience of gas, I love my little gas hob and grill, gas fridge and gas heating if I need it. So last year, I addressed the issue and adapted the cupboard to take x2 6kg bottles... best thing I ever did, as the 3.9kg never fitted into my cupboard very well, it was always very tight to get in and out. The 6kg lasts ages and there are no supply issues. Take a look at how I did it in the follow up video to this one. But hey, this is all a personal thing, no right or wrong - its whatever suits you, your van etc.

By luck, I exchanged for a new 4.5kg Butane Bottle a few days before the shock announcement from Calor that took us all by surprise. My last 4.5kg lasted 2.5 years (mainly in van on my own), but I also have an old portable camping stove and several aerosol size cans of Butane that have been left unused for years, so I’ve decided to use these before starting to use the new 4.5kg Butane bottle, which means I should be ok for at c3.5 years and I’ll worry about the Calor problem then!!

Thank you for letting us know, I heard a rumour but wasn’t sure if it was true now I know I’m not sure what I will do as I have a VW auto sleeper 1990 and my cupboard is at the front of my van behind the drivers seat and next to the fridge so I don’t think I have any options for bigger gas bottles ,💩 I will let you know what happens Linda 🙏

Thanks for watching Linda and taking time to comment. Good luck in resolving the issue. There are other companies like Campingaz and Flogas - the link is in the description. They do smaller cylinders in butane... but not always in propane. A supplier told me that usually these smaller suppliers often end up following Calor a couple of years down the line... it's all a bit of a pain, different people will choose their own ways of resolving it. Happy Travels. 🤗

Hi Teresa, you are quite right it really is a pain in the backside, everybody is complaining about it. Maybe if you switch to Flogas for now you won't have to take a saw to your lovely van just yet. Hopefully Flogas won't follow Calor Gas lead on this occassion on account of all the extra trade they will get from ex Calor customers. Would at least delay your dilema for a while whilst other people come up with solutions you may be able to copy?? Also, just a thought, wondering if you really want to be carrying the weight of 2 x 6kg calor around with you? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...really frustrating and annoying. Good luck lovely lady with whatever solution you decide is best for you, don't let it spoil your camping excursions xxx

Hi Pam I'm very much a person who 'grabs the bull by the horns' so to speak. So I'm adapting the van to house x2 6kg... watch this space. I think long term it's the best decision for me, as I use my gas hob/grill all the time, I don't do outdoor cooking and faffing about with barbecues, I also have a dual fuel fridge and gas heating when not on electric hookup, so I use quite a lot of gas when I'm away... it will be great not having to change the bottle as much!! Thanks for watching and taking time to comment... happy travels 🤗

Calor has started to refill and sell them again ... I think due to many complaining 🤔 ..... I only just needed one and bought a whole unit 3.9 kg bottle yesterday (August 2024) .... I think this may upset alot who have already sorted there vans/boats ect ...
@teresasworld3374
@teresasworld3374 4 ай бұрын
Hi Jill, Thanks for the info and feedback. Tbh, I'm not upset at all, adapting my van to take x2 6kg, has been one of the best things I've done (check out the video). It's quite easy to do, but to make a good job of it you need a professional carpenter. The Trident has the space. The 6kg is more widely available (most modern motorhomes use them) and I no longer fret about sourcing a gas bottle and the 6kg will last me ages. I even use the gas fridge far more now and I camp more frequently without electric hookup, as I now have a Jackery Explorer 240 power pack (to charge my music speaker and phones if need be). Everyone is different, no right or wrong... but I also think the 3.9kg will become more difficult to source... and I just don't want to worry about that. Happy travels and again, thanks for taking time to comment. 🚐

What a pain! Glad I decided not to install gas in Van Rouge other than the portable stove that takes aerosol size canisters. I'm keeping the portable stove packed away in the boot to use outside, but currently changing over to all electric cooking in the van as you might have seen on my FB page. I do hope you get it sorted. Couldn't you switch to Campingaz? I know the refils are expensive, but it'd save you straining yourself lifting those huge 6kg bottles. Oh, I thought you'd changed the name of your channel, or is it a second channel? Take care xx

Hi Debbie I've looked at Campingaz and Flogas options... I've decided Im going to adapt the cupboard, so watch this space. I think it's the best decision long term as I love my hob/grill as I don't cook outdoors, I simply can't be faffed with barbecues on my own. I also have a dual fuel fridge and gas heating I can use, when not on electric hookup... so I'm 'grabbing the bull by the horns' and sorting it. At least I won't have to change the bottle very regularly! I hate changing the gas! Happy Travels... looking forward to meeting you soon! 🤗

Hi Linda... these things are so personal, there's no right or wrong. For me, I don't think the 2.75kg is big enough for the way I use my van. I use the grill and hob all the time, I use the dual fuel fridge when not on electric hookup and enjoy the option of gas heating too. I know the 6kg is a bigger bottle to handle, but I've decided once I've sorted the housing and made it all easily accessible it will be a good decision long term. Happy travels Linda, and thanks for taking the time to comment 🤗

Hi Colin I use my hob and grill all the time. I have the luxury of a duel fuel fridge and gas fired heating if I wish to use it ... my gas is crucial to the way I utilise my van. As I travel solo, I'm not interested in outdoor cooking and faffing about with barbecues, plus you have to store it all. I love my little hob - it's simple, compact and perfect for what I need, nothing better than to put the kettle on and that little whistle telling me ...time for a cuppa. I've given it a lot of thought and I'm adapting my cupboard. It will be worth doing long term. I know what suits me, won't suit others... I merely show people the route I've chosen to take. There's no right or wrong way. Thanks for watching TWorld and taking time to comment. 🤗

Hi Colinlakin I'm lost without gas. I use my x2hob/grill daily - even to boil a kettle. The fridge has a gas option too. I also have gas fired heating if I need it. I'm not a person who carries a Cadac barbecue etc and faffs about cooking outside... fact is, I'd feel a bit silly setting it all up just for me. I'll sort the Calor issue, I'll keep it simple and accessible... well that's my aim 🤗

Hi Michael Thanks for watching and taking time to comment. Much appreciated. I was quoted £60 for x1 3.9kg FloGas cylinder... I'll need 2... so that's £120. Also, the FlowGas bottle varies in style... some are narrow and slightly taller than the Calor, which is fine. But some are shorter and fatter than the Calor and won't fit into my small cupboard. I'm concerned I've never heard of FloGas... so is it easy to find stockists when you're out and about in the UK or abroad?? The dealer also told me, FloGas often follow Calor ... further down the line. Think I'm sticking with my decision to adapt the cupboard... at the moment. That's if the cupboard can be adapted to suit my needs. We shall see. Nothings been chopped about yet 🤗
