This scene is what sold the movie for me. Dredd never lets his guard down, not even in the presence of other Judges. He's just eyeballing everyone that he meets as a potential criminal even his fellow Judges.

Goodness knows he's met a few who were not straight. Chief Judge Caligula. Judge Gibson (AKA, Mutie the Pig). His own brother, the original Rico. There was also a Judge by the name of Dana, who was going to be sent to Titan, but managed to put a hapless citizen in his place. Sure there were a few more.

I still think the most amazing thing about this movie is Dredd's attitude throughout that tells a terrifying story. For Anderson this was the most terrifying day of her life up to that point. For Dredd this was Wednesday. His energy is a weird surreal combination of utter determination and 'done with it' emotional investment. It's practically the reverse of the Frieza joke from Abridged where Frieza is counting the number of times he heard the good guy spiel.

They said in some of the material it was a stylistic as well as practical choice; if the gun was too large, when they show up being holstered, apparently people Kept getting the gun caught on stuff There was also the fact that technology has improved massively from the eighties when the law giver was 1st shown so they wanted to show their take on a "moderized" lawgiver

@@Shinzon23 yeah its more practical indeed. It just that they aren't appealing in term of aesthetic. The sound, feature & firepower are felt 'heavy' but didn't really matched w/ the size & recoil. Edit: i mean i prefer the handgun design & size from judge dredd 1995.

It's such an underrated movie, and Karl Urban doesn't get the credit he deserves for, unlike stallone putting his ego aside and keeping Dredds iconic helmet on for the entire movie, wish i couldve seen it in a good cinema in 3d when it came out as intended but it holds up fine in 2d, its barely noticeable that it was a 3d movie originally imho

I like how they don't even bother to try to save their fellow conspirators life, despite us seeing Dredd use magical nanite goo later to seal up a hole right through his kidney and keep moving enough to fight.

Sealing up a bullet wound is a lot different than unclogging a crushed throat where the guy is already dead from suffocation.
@Shinzon23
@Shinzon23 Жыл бұрын
@Ricki Tikki Tavi uh, that bullet went right through dredds kidney or liver. Like, right through. Organs generally don't work well after bullets go through them, so the fact Dredd is not only not bleeding out from the wound impressive, he's also not bleeding out internally, going into shock from Organs being shredded, or slowly being poisoned from toxins from said ruptured organ leaking into his bloodstream... Compared to that, a crushed trachea ain't sp3cial, and you don't even need the nanite goo for that, you just need a knife or hell even just a straw to perform this rather commonly taught emergency medical procedure called a "Tracheotomy" to keep someone breathing from a crushed windpipe. And it takes at least a minute after someone stops breathing to "die" in a way that reviving them doesn't bring back their personality as well.

To the person who posted this video, what the judge said, and what the phrase is, is “Cavalry’s Here.” Not “Calvary’s here.” In western movies, the settlers were always just about to be massacred by Indians when they would hear a bugle call, and see the mounted Soldiers of the US Cavalry charging in to save them, and somebody would say “the cavalry is here.” So it became a saying to denote anytime reinforcements show up. In a firefight and a super cobra attack helicopter shows up to help? Cavalry’s here. Calvary, like you have in the title, is the site outside the walls of Jerusalem where Jesus was crucified. I doubt anybody in a tense situation like a gunfight would ever say, when reinforcements show up, “The location where they crucified our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has just showed up.”
