I have been living in Ssiem Reap for 6 years. I usually take the regular bus for $12. This is nice option. Cambodia Angkor Air has 2 flights to Phnom Penh daily for around $100 each way fro. The new airport. I love Cambodia 🇰🇭

Great bus ride from SR to PP with lush green rice fields along the way. We're going to SR in November and we will take that bus service. At 43:00 - 45:00, that area used to be wetland and they started to develop the gated communities and condos not very long ago. Our first returned trip from US to Cambodia was back in 1995 when they first officially open to the world. The main highway was still in ruined with giant potholes and most of the bridges were damaged from the long civil war so the cars had to cross over the river by local manmade ferries then. It took us at least 12 hours from PP to SR and we had to take a 4X4 pick-up truck to get there. Cambodia has come a long way since the civil war officially ended in 1998 and not very long ago. Happy travels and stay safe to both of you!

Oh wow!!!😊I can tell that it is wetlands. Hopefully they have built it up enough. Where we live in Cairns Australia they have built houses in complete floodplains🫢 I remember in 2010 there was still dirt road with heaps of pot holes. It's so good to hear your experiences. It's a real insight into Cambodia. Thanks so much and have a great day!!!!😊🇰🇭

That flight price was outrageous !!! -- It's only a 45 minute flight !?! -- Flights from Manila twice that long are a mere $100 at most round trip to many other islands ?!? -- Crazy expensive. I'd take the bus too cause that's nuts. Hard to believe they sell any ? At least it was a scenic trip ! -- I really like Siem Reap from the videos but not sure I can handle the heat. -?- Only way to know will be to go.

Never use a travel agent. Always go to the bus terminal and buy your own ticket. For cross country Giant Ibis might be best. Personally, I hate airconditioning. In that part of the world if you use airconditioning, every time you step outside it will feel like stepping into a hot oven. I prefer to use only fans and cross circulation between windows, and allow my body to acclimate to the tropical climate over two or three weeks. Once I’m acclimated….the tropical heat is easily ignored and no longer bothers me. I get so used to the heat, that I find airconditioning to be very very uncomfortable.
@vintagefoodfarm4 ай бұрын
Thanks! We've never used Giant Ibis. Good to know😊Yeah. I can only take so much aircon but I do like the option. Where we live in Tropical Far North Queensland it is very hot & humid so we know how it can make you hotter when you do go out. On the other hand when you are gardening outside for a while you can over heat so the aircon is good then 😁Have a great day!

I'm living in Phnom Penh and had to add my two cents when you mentioned lousy Aussie internet. Most companies here charge $15USD (about20AUD) a month for an unlimited optical fiber internet connection. I just tried to double check and can't find any information saying that the Cambodian government spent anything on the internet. Not surprising the Cambodian government collects very little tax per person compared to Australia. That means it's the phone companies investing in their own internet infrastructure at no cost to the public. I can ring Australia for 1USD for 20mins. So what's with that useless bottomless pit in Australia known as the National Broadband Network (NBN) That performs so much worse? People, stop asking your government to do everything, governments make things more complicated than they need to be and generally stuff most things up. It doesn't matter if they use private contractors, they are still involved will add costs, more complexity and a far greater chance of stuffing everything. To begin with, a contractor to the government in Australia waits months to get paid, so they charge a lot more to make it worth their while. I'm a libertarian, this sort of thing proves libertarian philosophy..
@martinherald64925 ай бұрын
Also, when you leave your hotel grab a business card. Yes, no one does this... Don't bother ringing the hotel. Hand it to your tuk tuk driver and get him to ring it and they will tell him where to go. Don't even try to get directions from the hotel staff and explain it to your driver. If you have to ring the hotel on your phone and hand that to the driver. Another thought, something else no one does: Siem Reap's airport does international flights costing about the same as Phnom Penh. Before covid it was a busier airport. When you book your flights, land in Phnom Penh. Go to your southern places if your need to like Kampot. Then finish in Siem Reap and fly out of there. This saves you a day of your holiday from driving back to the airport you arrived in.

Two cents accepted! 😁I can't believe how bad Australian internet is! Cambodia is so so so much better! Even in the countryside! On a bus in the middle of woop woop you still have fast internet! AMAZING! Cambodia is even better than Vietnam

Regarding food dishes, I'm not sure what "yum" means in Cambodia, but in Vietnam it means "horny." The guy gave you a nice smile. Better to say: "yummy!"
