That horn would get on my nerves somewhat. But the experience otherwise is well worth the price. A very good value much like all else offered throughout Cambodia. The capital is a very nice city and for a capital city - quite affordable compared to most.

What you are saying about Baba-Nyoyn or Peranakan is not all correct. Most of the male Chinese married mostly the local bugis or Sumatran so called Malay who is not Muslim...and they speak Malay language and wear the traditional kembayan or clothings but then they worship the chinese gods especially touism.
@vintagefoodfarm21 сағат бұрын
Thank you so much! Very good to know 😁👍Are you saying the Malay women were Taoist before the Chinese came?
@jehanc21 сағат бұрын
@@vintagefoodfarm No,no..they are local in Melaka not in Penang and Singapore but the ladies I brought over from Sumatran to be married to the locals Chinese at that time and they don't really have any religion or were worshipping their own type of gods but only the first generation.

Hi Guys, how much more expensive is Malaysia than Vietman or Thailand, Food, Accommodation, etc. love your Vids always good to get an opinion from Aussies . Cheers
@vintagefoodfarmКүн бұрын
It goes Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand overall. Cheapest to most expensive. Food is as cheap as Vietnam and cheaper than Thailand. Accommodation is more expensive than Vietnam and cheaper than Thailand but there is less accommodation so less options. If you are happy with a high rise apartment there are heaps quite cheap but we like hotel breakfast so prefer not to do that.😁👍Hope that helps😊

hi debbie, you are not a tourist! you are a visitor, an extraordinary one. your knowledge of my little island and its history is astounding. born and bred here, penang was my home for 39 years. i now live in adelaide and call australia home. but penang, and all that it ever was and is, will always be home, inextricably. watching your hour-long video (actually a documentary) brought a tear to my right eye.i had nothing left to say. cheers.

you see how malaysian hospitality. Unlike in gold coast or sydney. the hotel staff could fk care about lifting your bags and opening your car door. So bloody lazy BUT THEY WANT HIGH PAY and hotel prices are RIDICULOUS in Austalia!!
@vintagefoodfarm2 күн бұрын
Malaysian hospitality is definitely incredible! 😁👍However the cost of living in Australia means hotel staff get paid very little in reality. Especially in Sydney or the Gold coast. The price of housing is insane so you can't hardly afford a house if you work in a hotel. The cost of electricity and food makes it almost impossible 😭
@sbs28372 күн бұрын
But the hotel manager must do more for the staff la. I dont mind paying even 500 for Hilton Surfers Paradise but you must give me some form of service. Nowadays they are giving us like back packer kind of service in 5 star hotels. They havent learnt from their covid experiences . People tend to forget!!!

@@vintagefoodfarm I’m learning so much from your videos we are concerned about getting sick from food and fresh salads, thought being salads washed in local water etc and I can’t get my head around ice in beer not the ice but the water used to make it, like everyone we don’t want to get sick.
@vintagefoodfarmКүн бұрын
So happy you are enjoying the channel and that it is helpful! 🥰This is a question we get all the time 😁There is no hard and fast rule here but I will make a few points worth considering 😊We have not been sick in Vietnam in the last 10 years. Many thousands of tourists eat salad, herbs and ice everyday. A lot of the ice is now commercially made and delivered. We drink bottled water over tap water. It is understandable that people think about salads and ice but there are a million other ways that you will come in contact with water that you won't even think about. For example the plates and serving spoons that you eat from in a restaurant and the glass that you drink out of will have been washed in water. Over all people do not get sick in Vietnam like they used to. We eat whatever looks yummy, clean and fresh and we don't get sick. Some people think that if they eat in a 5 star resort that it is cleaner and fresher that a local restaurant but in most cases both buy their meat, seafood and produce at the same local market. You can do everything you can to avoid risks and still be exposed with no implications or you could get sick. So far we have not had one comment on our videos about someone being sick. It would be a shame to have all that delicious food and not enjoy it to the max. This is a question that every traveler needs to ask in every country they go to. This is how we do it and we are happy we do. We take gastro tablets with us when traveling in South East Asia and they are available at any chemist however we have to replace them because they expire and not because we used them 😁👍 When we first started travelling in Vietnam (2003) I would ask them to dip the fresh herbs from our soup in the hot broth pot before I would eat them because I was terrified. Back then I had reason to be so cautious but not now. Hope this helps and doesn't make it even harder. Start of cautious and see how you feel as you get used to it 🥰Maybe join some of the Face book groups like "Aussies in Vietnam" or "Vietnam Foodies" to speak with other travelers about their experiences. I am sure you will love Vietnam. It is an incredible place.

Great video! I have Malaysia on my bucket list for this year with Georgetown at the top of must see places. Can I ask (I know this is a tricky question) do you see Malaysia as a place that feels safe and easy to navigate as a female solo traveller? I have been to Vietnam by myself and would love to go to Malaysia. Any thoughts would be amazing!

Yes you can!😁👍 It is a very safe place and very easy to get around. We totally recommend it. I actually think it is easier than Vietnam to navigate. There is so much authentic culture and the people are very lovely and extremely helpful and supportive. English is spoken almost everywhere so it really is easy and so interesting. You will love it!

Penang, Melaka & Singapore were straits states under the British.. At that time it was called Malaya. Malaya gained independence in 1957. Singapore was under Malaysia and left Malaysia in 1963. After that, Malaysian Borneo, Sabah & Sarawak joined Malaysia but Brunei refused.
