The Thump is Strong on Drums and I really on vocal (almost that radio effect lol). I will say the Cream does something unique on the vocals a smoothing I would say. Great Video!

Great review I just bought the Cranborne 500 ADAT. Im going to use it as a Drum bus. These Camden 500's will be good for my drums

Thanks for this review. I really like the sound of the Cranborne on Thump and Cream. Too bad they can't have both engaged at once. I also really liked the sound of the LaChappell too.

Yes you can, but you need 2 of them, set up in a chain (so for a stereo, you need 4 of them). I saw in a demo from Craneborne Audio channel, this was shown.

Nice. Just checked out your Lachapell 500DT review as well. Wondering how you would compare the 500DT to the Cam? They can both do clean or colored ... is it semi-redundant to get both if I only have 8 slots in my lunchbox?

I would go for the lachapell. Not to say the Camden isn't good, but you can't beat real tubes and transformers. Plus the 500DT is on sale for $359 right now. Right at the same price of the Camden. I'm thinking of getting a second 500DT at that price.

@Czar: Is it sufficient to drive the SM7B noise-free, with much headroom? I am struggling to drive it loud enough without noise on my dbx 286A, and this is the preamp I would like to buy. Alternatively, the Focusrite ISA One is also a contender. Can you share your thoughts about the two compared?

Not sure if you're saying he put some EQ on it but I have the Cams & that thump/cream is exactly what it does. Ever since I got them, I hardly use any Pultec EQ plugs for that bass boost/cut bump anymore because the Cams do something similar but cleaner.

I wouldn't purchase these specifically for mixbus, check out the Portia Street Stomp PSS from iron age audio works. I haven't used it but I've been curious about it, it's made more for mixbus, but it's not a mic pre

Yes. I've been leaning on cleaner pres lately. Cleaner pres with a little bit of color. I find a lot of pres with color lack clarity.

If you have to choose one preamp for vocals and acoustic guitars , using the lauten audio LA-320 mic. Which one would you choose ? Rnd 511 or candem 500 ?

I'd go with the Neve 511. Both are clean without the extra features (Camden probably cleaner) but I'd take the silk on the neve over the cream on the Camden

@@felix9671 I have not used the retro 500 mic pre, so I can't really comment on it. but I'm all for versatility, and I think the retro, with its high and low gain settings, will be more versatile than the BAE

Have you had any issues with the signal led lighting up? I put my re20 through this and can’t seem to get the signal led to light up. Same with my guitar straight into it with the hi z switch on. It sounds great just curious why my led won’t light up.

Good question, it has been years since I've used an SSL pre with VHD. I remember the SSL was clean, but don't remember what the VHD sounds like.
