Hi Mark! I've had a Camelbak MULE (not the military) for, I reckon, 10+ years. Never had a problem with it and found it ideal. I agree 2.5 litres of water is the best capacity. The thing I like is; I've never experienced plastic taste. A great product for all types of adventure motorcycling. 👍😁 PS cleaning kits definately help.

The holes for the side is for comfort wearing a vest (bulletproof) because they are very bulky, it also keeps the hose secured close to the body to keep it from snagging on things when hopping in and out of vehicles.

So Your phone screen will display a different colour to your monitor. Just a thought . Cool bannanas other wise.

When I was in the U.S. Navy I put a coil of 99.99% pure silver in the bladder. It allowed me to go for longer before having to clean it since I didn't have a great place to be able to clean it. The silver is a natural anti microbial and will cause you no harm and some people from natural food stores say the silver is very beneficial for are bodies. I never noticed a difference on how I felt drinking it but who knows. When I was off the coast of Irac I drank 6 of those 3L Camelbak and never used the restroom. The temps I was working in was 116f (46.7c) and around 90% humidity.

G'day Mark. Geez your a bloody laugh mate. Helpful tip again. When filling the camelbcak bladder . Hook the little strap at the top of the backpack onto something like a doorknob or over a tap handle or anything that will hold it ect ect. Then hold the plastic handle spout thingy on the bladder opening that way your not trying to fill it up on a bench. Then it will use gravity abit better to fit the 3 litres in if you get the drift of what I saying. Cheers mate take care

When the drinking hose is insulated, then the first sip is not boiling hot on a sunny day. The sun will really heat up an uninsulated hose. You made a GOOD CHOICE Mark.

G'day Mark. I have had a Camelback for I think 17 or 18 years now. They are great. You can make a home made neoprene (weatsuit material) pouch/bag to fit over it, then throw in a bunch of ice cubes and your water stays cold all day. Apart from that little bit in the tube of course. I have an issued Camelback and an Aldi version which was $24.95. Both are only 2 litres. But the Aldi version works just as well, I can not fault it. For the price, it's a winner. If, of course, you can find one up when ever they pop up. :)

Dishwashing liquid... Don't know if it's bad or not but that is what I use. I rarely clean the bladder as when I get home I normally rinse it out and allow it to fully dry before putting it away! :-)

Best way to store the bladder after use - is to empty the water and put it in the freezer!...
@wobblysauce4 жыл бұрын
I have always kept water in it ready to go, never been any buildup. The issue I think some have is that they leave air in it with the water. My current one is a Kriega, had for 6/7years maybe, never had to clean it yet. Open, fill, semi fold it getting the air out of it and sealer up.

I live in Texas, and ONLY put municipal tap water in mine. It's chlorinated/fluoridated/whoknowswhatelse, so I NEVER empty it, dry it or rinse it. I've been using a Camelbak since not long after they first came out in 1989. NEVER had anything grow in it, and I'll sometimes leave it unused for months. I'm on my third one (so they get used for about a decade each), and have only ever upgraded to get a bigger one, or one with a better system, like the MULE I'm currently using, because I like all the pockets. Still have my original, but it's too small to use anymore - still works, though! Can't go wrong with a Camelbak!

10:15 it has nothing to do with carrying guns. Wrapping the drink tube under your arm orients the mouthpiece in a natural drinking position. That is to say the mouthpiece faces up and towards your mouth. That way, you don't drink like this: 16:10 Furthermore, wrapping the drink tube under your arm secures the drink tube so it doesn't hang and flop around like this: 12:28 To each his/her own, but having the drink tube flop everywhere: 1) gets in your way 2) can get caught or snagged on the environment 3) makes it hard to catch your mouthpiece when you do want to drink water ...and my most favorite 4) just looks plain old stupid. Like you have a long horse dork dalloping over your shoulder all day.

This model of it is garbage. I still have my old Woodland one I bought on base in '04 right after basic. Separate pockets like this one, 1000D (instead of the 500D or less they use now), much better use of the cargo space (it was known to lose cargo space with a full 3l bladder) since the advent of flatter bladders (Camelbak's bladders are total garbage compared to others, especially Antidote). Removable sternum strap, and the belt has the velcro keepers and little pouches to store each side of the belt in, so you don't have to constantly worry about losing it if you detach it at times. I had a chance to try on this newer model, and it actually hurt. The shoulder straps were mounted up top too close together (I'm a larger gal but guys are naturally bigger on average), my neck was rubbed by the sides of them and I'm sure wearing this would rub me raw. The padding was excessively stiff, as well. Finally, this one is 500D. I'm not sure how it'll hold up, but my old 1000D one has been through multiple incidents of road rash by my brother when he wrecked doing his bmx stuff, when I was hit on a bicycle and skidded on my back, literally decades of day hikes and carried attached to my pack as an additional daypack, all 6 years of my airborne service, and it doesn't even have a frayed thread. Only a couple of light scuffs and a worn rung of MOLLE, from all the road rash it got. If you can find an old 1000D MULE, grab it, you'll immediately throw this one in the trash out of pure disdain.
