Necropsy and Materials Expert are probably the most important ones here. They don't take a lot of neuromods and taking them early gets you a lot of value

These really seem like passive human abilities. If you choose hacking, combat focus, gunsmith, firearms and sneak attack along with an upgraded shotgun you will be able to traverse the station with ease and have a damage output that is capable of taking out a nightmare in 5 - 8 shots.

Just use recycle charges on nightmare, I think it was around 3 to 4 charges

I went through prey with only human abilities. Made the game crazy easy once I was able to max the Disruptor Stun Gun

Infinit_Phoenix it's kind of like far cry once you max out your skills or perks you become almost like a god and can kill just about anything in your way with ease

Camelworks just thought ivshould clarify something. So my playthrough I've been finding resource management to be a breeze so far. Basically I've got only as far as Dr. Calvinos workshop so far BUT I've not wanted for any particular type of material save mineral. Does this change dramatically?

If you're not above abusing the physics in the game, you don't need leverage for any of the rooms which are blocked by crates. It can take a little longer, but all you need is a chair. Yep, a chair. While holding it, move close to the objects and they'll start to shuffle out of the way. If you drop it while it's clipping directly between two items, it'll shove both of them out of the way. Sure, you can't use the crates as weapons, but leverage isn't needed for room access :)

I'm older and slower than I used to be, and I have terrible reflexes, so hacking is a waste of points for me personally. It takes me 9-12 attempts to hack a Rank one lock (I quickload after each fail because failing 12 times in a row is bad on my health bar). I understand how it works just fine, I just have terrible reflexes. I can't imagine rank 2, having to succeed twice in a row. That would take me 81-144 tries. :)

In all honesty, the hacks get easier the higher the level. The timers increase much more than is necessary to the point where I finally thought that the hacks ranked up as follows in terms of difficulty; 2, 1, 3 and 4. It is a better investment than leverage from a loot point of view though, as you can shuffle objects out of the way with only a chair, or a cardboard box if you're willing.

Leverage is totally unecesary, just lv1, same as hacker, combat focus at max and you are invincible if you combine with max health and psi

I'm sorry, could you repeat that? did you say exotic materials are the rarest? Yeah no, had over 200 by the time i finished the game, meanwhile i strugled to get mineral material, allways had around 20 in inventory, which i would have to use for ammo, despite recycling all the weapons

It was the same for me. By the end I had a handful of mineral/synthetic but 200 organic and 300+ exotic.

if you intend to install any neuromods in hacking then hacking 2 is free! in the entrance to psychotronics in the lobby is a locked safe. you can get in this room early by breaking the glass next to the computer and just press the button. you do not need the crossbow. this safe can only be accessed with h2. There is no other way. inside this safe is 4 neuromods! The exact cost of h2! people have pointed out ways to get to this safe before, but never seem to point out the significance. So if you have hacking 1 and your thinking "hmmm? h2, or leverage, or repair 2? which one first?" h2. If you have h1 or plan to get it, then h2 and you get an immediate refund that you can then spend on something else.

I dont need carry heavy items to get to new room, just use recycle bomb and the things are gone. That works for me and i already beat the game for 4 time

You can actually just unlock tier one lifting and just throw a tier 1 at a tier 2 or tier 3 and it'll move it out of the way.👍

Prey Neuromods are good balanced for different play styles. And that is AMAZING ! Repair skill helped me a lot. Next play I'm thinking of some stealth mode :) PREY ROCKS !

I couldn't get by without the gunsmith mods, on nightmare it's just so necessary to be able to boost your damage in early game

90% of closed doors can be open by crossbow. Just need good angle to shoot computer monitor or door open button on the wall. But mimic change skill is useful there and get 100% closed doors. No need hacking to much then. I have liverage 1 and use chair to move something which need or just use gas bottles to make big blow and open some storages. But the best way is use all the abilities when whant little cheat and made some few more neuromods. But it can broke a game to much when it's 1st gameplay.

I found leverage completely useless since you can use recycle charges to get the big things out of your way. And I tried killing things by throwing them but it was completely useless against the tougher enemies. The suit upgrades I agree with. Necropsy was also meh because I had so much exotic material I had nothing to make with them because of the lack of the other materials. And by the end you are most likely a unkillable god if you spent your neuromods on skills that actually matter. Hacking is also pretty useless in my opinion since there are almost always other ways into rooms. And I personally never found anything worth while in the safes/storage boxes in cargo bay and the like. My top 5 would be the weapons bonus damage skills, inventory space, weapon upgrade skills, tools upgrade skills, and the run faster jump higher branch. But that's just what I would use for my play style.

The only thing I use the recycle charges was to fight against nightmares, they have gotten me out of some tough spots.

Max Combat focus, maxed gunsmith, maxed firearms and a maxed out shotgun makes crowds even with the Nightmare around a cake walk. XD

While I think oyu are right in General, I disagree on hacking a little bit. If you get hacking 2, it costs you 5 NM. But there is also a safe at the start of the game in the lobby, that can only be hacked and gives u 4 NM back. So Hacking 2 costs essentially only 1 NM and for that investment its very worth it I think.

I would have to disagree with leverage. I only got leverage one and was able to get by without it by just using the mimic matter neuromod instead. a lot of the doors that have large objects in the way have a cup sized gap you can fit through so why waste the points. as for exotic materials, they are not the rarest. mineral is the rarest.

Omega Quake Toss them recycler grenades. Or use explosive canisters to Michael Bay your way in. Theres literally only 1 door that needs leverage (II) and thats only the security booth in life support. The rest will have alternative options.

So I've watched several Prey videos now and many this is just me being a little ocd lol but every video I've seen the inventory is just a jumbles mess. Like I have to put all the weapons together in one portion of the inventory screen and all the healing items together lol

Hacking IV is super useful during the last missions in the game, just hack all the operators and they will do all the fighting for you letting you sneak by undetected ;)

Depends on the way you play aswell this guide is most usefull for someone who just started playing the game for the first time. And I think this is the esiest way to be something like a Jack of all trades type: you can hack all locks, recycle more and kill almost without using ammo.

I use combat awareness + wrench, and psycho water + psi, so I don't need to craft ammo. That means even in the mid to late game my lowest resources is always exotic since I never craft anything else.

don't listen to this guy, he has no idea what he's talking about. Leverage is the single worst ability in the game. Hacking and Necropsy are nice to have, but shouldn't be top priority Repair is much more important than either of them.
