🔥. I luv 'new school', elevated af reboots and 'sampling.' But it truly pizzes me off to bc I know of many of the long list of pop- or soul songs that 1950s-1980s bros made that, later artists, mostly starting w gen-Xers (and the now-5 generations after them), benefited from (often w/o knowing it 🙄). Cameo is transcendent and nvr get enuf credit. And Cameo is just 1 example. So grateful I was already in my early 20s when Cameo blew up. A general example(not referrung to u, personally): Millenials/Zs/Alphas don't seem to gaf - but what if it had been your 1970s instrumentals-only radio hit song that Biggie(RIP), in 1995, made 'stoopid' money off of(🎶Can't You See🎶)? Then u(if u were that exact 70s music artist) would care a whole lot re who got proper credit for creating an earlier, original song that later was the(e) foundational sound of a dope azz hook(instrumentals hook in 🎶Can'tYouSee🎶) that became an all-time hit song. Ffs. 🙄

Well most of these HBCU STUDENTS WEREN’T EVEN BORN when this was made…. Wait none of them were born when this was made unless they were adults who went back to School as an adult… First time I heard this Song I was in California just got back N country and was getting my first pumped up stereo in my car… 85 Camaro and a guy from Toledo Ohio pulled up in the shop he had needed some fuses for his amp. He put it in and this Song came on his whole vehicle just shook but was crispy clean… I knew then it would take me awhile but I’m getting mine done and that’s gonna be my Test song…. And with that I’ve never wavered…. Thanks Cameo… People well y Cameo first of all the were the hottest thing out of course second most of all they had the whole sound spectrum in their music not just beating banging bass but horns, hats drums bass singing organs they are/were the truth… Nuff Said

+KreoleKing I'm not saying that other bands play it, but the younger generation only hear this song from predominantly black schools. I did not know I had to explain it so far into depth of what I was saying. I am not hating on anyone sir.

I graduates in 91 and we were rocking this song at our football games. Now my sons football team hits the field to the HS band nailing it. Love when things come back and we get to show the new gen how THE gen rock!

this song still resonates after all these years. You could apply this song to the Obama administration, The Bush administration or Hillary Clinton and it still wouldn't get old. Just shows some things never change, even though this was made 30 years ago.

+vxy357 I guess we're all looking for great politics but it's really hard to get that high level like Northern and Western Europe like Norway, Sweden, Nederlands, Austria, Germany, Canada or Switzerland because they always get high ranked in political transparency and their politics are really clean and open.

When this song dropped back in 1984, we didn't know Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Oliver North & his cronies dropped crack cocaine to destroy the black community. Reagan also did some things that this country is still trying to get out of this deep hole. Cameo hit it on the head with this one.

crack cocaine was already here by the time Reagan and North got involved. Remember Richard Pryor and others were smoking long before Ricky Freeway Ross came on the scene.

The first time I heard this was at a party back in the Reagan 80's and it turned me on to Cameo for the first time. Being into Ohio Players, Commodores, Kool and the Gang and such I wasn't used to hearing funk dance oriented party music with a hard political message underneath it. Now hearing it again after all this time i find it so ironic that with all that has transpired the words still ring as true as ever.

Exactly what I was thinking, man. These lyrics still stand strong and pose vital questions...even today. Will we ever learn as a species and stand-up to the bigwigs? Or will we continue to let these corrupt bastards control us? Some amazing guitar work on here

High school/College football games, every time. I remember being in the auxiliary in the stands thinking of which dance to do once the rotation hit your line. This might as well be the black football halftime anthem.

Tennessee State played this first..then other Black colleges picked it up. Then later the Power school bands....late as usual...lol. And I don't even go to Tennessee State..you gotta credit where credit is due. But Arkansas Pine Bluff's band take it to another level.
