Your videos helped me out with my first mini dirtbike. I purchased a ttr-230 and a crf150r with intentions on entering the bike build contest. I had to make sure the 150r was running before starting the project and ended up shattering the top of my tibia during one of the first test rides New Year’s Eve having a little more fun than I had originally planned lol. 2 plates and 12 screws later! Just want to say how much I appreciate the videos and that I can’t wait to get back to it.

@rushzimi38655 жыл бұрын
If you wish to maintain the motors sheen and cleanliness, spray the engine with a light coat of non-stick cooking spray before you take it out. Concentrate on the dirt "impact" areas especially. Once done with the days riding simply pressure spray with gentle detergent. This will restore it to its original shine. I have built show road bikes that were frequently ridden... worked a treat there as well. Good luck and thanks for the great channel Cam. 👌

I haven't personally used the stuff, but a builder friend uses Sharkhide marine metal protectant on his cleaned up metal. It is more of a liquid rub-on product. Pricey stuff but he has been happy with it. Thanks for sharing. The use of the flapper and scuffing bits is a game-changing information.

what precautions do you take to preserve these finishes once you're done? any coatings or oil or maintenance procedures to keep things looking shiny and fresh?

He mentioned 3 preservation tips but the easiest one he mentioned imo is just clear coat the finished product. Whether you leave it brushed or buff it shiny you can always finish with a clear coat

Not only does vapor blasting give a beautiful bright finish, it closes the pores on the aluminum. So the parts should not stain again on the future. It should also corrode slower and stay nice looking longer.

You might want to try the "Purple De-greaser" from Home Depot. I use it on my Laser Engraver cutting table, and it works like nothing I have ever seen. You will want to wear gloves, and mix it to 30% solution with water. Let the parts soak in it for half an hour, and you should be able to squirt them clean with a hose. In very tough cases you may have to use a soft brush. I used an old electric toothbrush and it worked like a charm. This stuff is potent, so make sure you rinse thoroughly!

Go figure... another great video Cam! Those parts turned out sweet! Sooo clean! An idea for the future... next time you get a head in that condition, you should discuss how to measure the squish band and mating surfaces. I built Epoxy composite sail boards . Painted with an aircraft paint called Imron . I study aerospace engineering. I had a beautiful shop. My friend bought a shop from some one and just started building without reading the safety data sheets. He would paint with a respirator only then go back into the paint room and look at his work without a respirator. I had a fresh air supply system used many types of Epoxy Resin . Never look at a piece after painting until it was fully cured in an oven. He had to have kidney transplant surgery. You have a nice shop.

Just a FYI I stumbled on your account a bit back and have been watching since. I wanted to let you know I have been using the Napa Alum bright for years. On any engine case it will gray it out, but on aluminum like a sub frame or swing arm it will make it bright again. I think it has to do with the different material in the engine case aluminum. I will use is on old chrome wheels, new mag wheels. The key is spray and immediately rinse. DO NOT LET SET FOR ANY TIME. Also I have see a few vids on home made vapor blasters.

Thanks for this video. I hate polishing, cleaning or any detail work. Good reason for me selling the Harley.
