I think the only way Love Island can still go on for another 5 to 10 seasons is to diversify their set of candidates. With that i mean: get people off the streets who probably care more about finding love AND get influencers who care about themselves. It's that dualism that creates the tension people want to watch. In recent seasons, Love Island has relied too much on agencies and managers. We've seen a whole cast with the same type of people, with the same type of occupation and the same aspirations. It's boring. I do think a key element for this to work will be the on-screen and off-screen mental health support though. Sure, ITV made progress, but they still got a long way to go as well on that front.

There were consent issues in season 3 because of the alcohol. They should definitely have interfered more so that didn't happen regardless of how drunk people were, but an alcohol limit is easier than trying to enforce consent unfortunately.

Love Island at its peak was so big. It felt like everyone was watching it or at least knew about it. Me, my parents, my parents' friends... I think series 8 was the last big moment for the show and Ekin-Su was the last iconic character

One thing about season 10, I saw a tiktok the other day, about how bullied molly was by the other contestants especially Jess and Mitch. It seems to be a constant thing that love island just don’t seem to address or have no empathy for, and Jess being rewarded from the public by winning just also shows the lack of empathy from the public too, which is so scary. I do get that Molly might have been annoying or whatever but it still doesn’t justify the bullying and be being ganged up on by the other contestants.

I feel most ppl felt for Scott tho. smth happened in there cos it's like the islanders mostly had vitriol for Scott, even Sam Thompson (who's a previous cohost of thd LI podcast). Also, Sammy didn't deserve ti win either. He was not true to Jess in the slightest. Whitney is awesome though, and Lochan with his culinary prowess sends me to another planet.

season 1-3 are the BEST. season 4 is the last good season. season 5 onwards (the mollymae effect) created a plt brand deal hungry set of contestants who only wanted instagram fame. season 3 is 1000% the peak of this show

Honestly, if they want to keep doing Love Island All Stars. They should do it with people from Love Island from other countries. I know we have Love Island Games, but that's more competition based. For Love Island All Stars bring past islanders from other countries, who want to find love. There have been times, where I saw one Islander that I thought was better suited. For another islander but from a different country

The only love reality show I watch is temptation island. Give it a watch, it is so much better. The ppl behind the cameras, stir drama up. The host Mark Wahlberg no not! that Mark Wahlberg. He talks things out with them, and gives great advice to the contestants. Mark also isn't afraid to call them out on their bs. It's a show where, couples go to an island and they get tested with sexy singles. They see if the person they arrived, on the island with is truly the one, or if there's someone else out there for them. It's had 5 seasons, with a sixth on the way, I believe.

What's interesting is that Millie and Liam actually publically split up for a while, but then got back together and it's actually really helped their image. I think personally the most iconic Love Island seasons were 5 and 7. Obviously since this video Molly-Mae and Tommy have shockingly split, and they were like the couple that everyone looked to as a Love Island success story. I wonder if that will impact future seasons. I also think the All Stars season has helped AND hurt Love Island, because it brought back the deadness that came from the winter seasons (I only ever watched the first winter one), but now it'll mean contestants definitely won't care about ACTUALLY finding love because they know they could get a second chance. However, Molly and Tom from All Stars are actually really cute together so it's kinda worked, but hasn't been a year yet so we shall see...

I think the only way they could get people watching in the masses again is by getting 'normal people' on there. They ONLY cast influencers now, all people with plastic surgery and fake teeth. I’d swap your commentary for s7 and s8, s8 was like a resurgence of the series that’s why so many people got brand deals because it was an explosive season. S7 didn’t have anyway near the same impact, S8 was what drew in many American viewers too. As a day one fan s2 is my favourite and s1 is underrated
