And my friends literally said "You don't LOOK lesbian though", "Yeah, I don't think so" and "Within the next few weeks you're gunna be straight again". Which honestly really hurt me because my own friend who were in the community rejected me just because I like dresses and skirts and makeup. And then when I started dating a girl they - till the very end - would tell us to our faces that it wasn't a real relationship and we weren't really girlfriends. Which made me EXTREMELY mad. Lor I'm the only openly gay person at my school and i'm super femme and my girlfriend is a long distance girlfriend sooo people thought she was fake and thought i was doing it for attention. well i finally met her and now everyone is apologizing left and right for doubting my relationship and my sexuality. and there are probably people who still think that i'm straight and some people at my school don't know what bisexual even means (and pansexual). I live in Georgia.. there are lots of close minded people

I think in our society nowadays, is filled with people who think it's okay to either ask invasive questions or try to invalidate someone's identity because they don't fit their idea of what they're supposed to act or look like, LGBTQ+ and those who aren't LGBTQ+. I'm ace and the amount of straight men and women who like women who have asked if the reason I was "claiming" to be ace was because I was molested as a kid or violated by an adult or have said that if I slept with them, I wouldn't be ace anymore... People expect all LGBTQ+ to be open-minded because they haven't felt oppression or discrimination but, not everyone goes through it. It makes me sad. Literally every person on this planet will go through some sort of discrimination or judging at least once, some are just more lucky than others.

As a newly out lesbian I am consistently having to tell people yes I'm gay. And as someone who also dresses pretty tomboy I am consistently surprised how much I relate to very femme struggles. I came out recently and someone said asked if I was a "butch" or "lipstick" (which is an outdated stereotype) and as someone who is free to answer on my own accord I said "I'm not really either because I don't think that's relevant but if I had to choose, I'd say butch." I was immediately told I was wrong "because I'm too pretty to be a butch." I had to argue with them and they tried to turn it into a series of compliments because they thought that's what they were doing. Being pretty doesn't make your self-identity any less valid. Thank you for this.

@@FLdancer00 It's not gay people's fault for being gay it's homophobic people making it a big deal. For gay people it's part of who they are, they're not going to hide it to stop descrimination. We need to stop it from the roots which is homophobia. How bout stop being homophobic because gays can't stop being gay? Also if gay people stopped talking about being gay they wouldn't be able to talk about their partner, past relationships and anything they have done with their partner. And still if a homophobic person sees a gay couple they're going to think badly of it. Religion won't stop just because you've silenced gay people because their precious bible still says it's a sin.

Being bi its not an insult. But when you are a femm les (and you have come out as a lesbian) and people keeping telling that you are propably like men as well ("you re propably bi, you are too femme to be lesbian"), its frustrating and annoying. We dont like men, we like women, and when someone insisting on call straight or bi (that is being attracted to men), its upsetting, esp if you are a lesbian who struggling with her sexuality/identity.

See, I was thinking some beautiful femme girl broke her heart by revealing that she's bi (which is like an offense to the "gold star" lez community), or realizing that she actually wasn't gay in the first place. Either way she probably feels that the girl left her *FOR A MAN* , and so any pretty girl who likes makeup and girly things is gonna end up going for a guy anyways. Either way, what she said was uncalled for, and understandably hurtful.

I'm still haven't come to terms with my sexuality. I'm kinda bi-curious but not in the " am I bi or am I straight?" Kinda way more like "am I bi or am I gay?" Kinda way. I've had one girlfriend and like 3 boyfriends but with the boys I'm not as comfortable as I was with the girl. The guys were more sexual and so were my friends talking about the guys. I was never really intimate with the girl I wanted to be and she always told me while I was away that she wanted to kiss and stuff but when we were together we just cuddled a lot and she dodged it if I tried to kiss her. I really think she was just experimenting with me but we're not really friends anymore so I can't say shit.

I get you, hon. I have the stereotyped lesbian haircut but I love to dress up whenever I can, and I am generally pretty femme.

Omg the story about the butch woman hit me so hard. I only came out last year and I had a lesbian woman laugh in my face and tell me I'm just "a bi girl looking for attention" I literally cried my eyes out

I go to an all girls school and most of the people there are either les or bi. So like I came out to my classmates and one of them said "Ew, just stay straight, it suits you better." and they all agreed. Like bruh

so many people think that there has to be a bunch of lesbians at my school because its all girls but theres FIVE including staff in a school of almost 2000 girls, its really weird. theres a few that are bi but 90% of them are 12 year old emos who you cant hold a full conversation with. also my gay ass is in love with the lesbian teachers so things arent looking good for me.

I'm a femme and im into femmes. It's so damn hard to understand if femme looking girls are straight or gay?? Like... I'm flirting with a girl and she just thinks we're close friends? Idk if she's gay and im too scared to ask because i can lose her?

I had a man tell me that my lesbianism was a “injustice to society”. He meant it as a compliment.

First video I've ever seen of yours, but you seem so lovely & as a straight girl, I find it so important to watch videos like these from the LGBTQ+ community to get a feeling of what life is like for you. Keep being you, keep being proud of who you are and love who you love. The ignorance and hatred will be weeded out bit by bit. Lots of love from an ally who will always support the LGBTQ+ community X
