Was skeptical at first with you starting off with the Timber Hitch but I see where that would bite a lot better than a Clove...Constrictor would have worked good there too but outstanding video

Can you please explain how to start with a timber hitch if I am working on lashing a ridge pole to a large tree, I will obviously not be able to fit the loop of the timber hitch over the top of the tree which will be far above me. will it be as secure in this situation if I start the timber hitch on the pole I cut instead as you do in this video? thanks
@SurvivalSherpa7 жыл бұрын
Start with a larger loop around the pole. Begin winding the bite end around the loop and tighten it around the pole. It's difficult to explain. I may have to do video on it for you. I'm sure someone already has a video on this here on YT, though. Thanks, bud!

Hello Sir Sherpa, I am a boy scout, I really appreciate your tutorial but is it possible to do this with Thick stick? Usually smaller than that of yours. Thanks, it's my project.
@SurvivalSherpa9 жыл бұрын
+Maxxz101 If I understand your question, you'd like to do square lashing with smaller diameter sticks? I bet you could with any size sticks. You may have to adjust the size of your cordage though. Thanks for watching and keep doing the stuff of self-reliance young man!

Well done video! I too like the timber hitch to start, much better than the clove hitch. For the wrapping and frapping, I suggest emphasizing to keep the line as tight as possible all the time rather than tightening after completing two turns. Don't let friction work against you, which is what happens if you put in several turns before tightening. This is especially important if your cordage is not as stretchy as nylon. In the video, it does look like you're keeping it tight throughout, but everyone should be reminded - the tighter, the better. When you want to use a stick to pull really hard, use the Marlinespike Hitch. It's easy to use and works better than just wrapping the line around the stick. With the Marlinespike Hitch, the stick doesn't try to spin in your hand. Thanks for your video.

Your video needs editing, it's overlong and man that sniffing is irritating!
