One thing that you didn't mention (or I didn't hear it), is that these internet connected cameras, while easy to use, depend completely on the manufacturer's "cloud", and, apart from the fact that somebody else is getting your footage, if they decide to switch it off (it happened), you're left with a useless piece of kit. I have a couple of cameras (that I'm not using btw), where I could change the original firmware for one that doesn't need to use the manufacturer cloud at all, but that's considerably more difficult to setup, and there's no guarantee I can do it if I buy the same camera again (they could have changed the processor without changing the part number).

Hi, it’s a good point and yes whilst true for some, some can be connected to directly, like the SV3C IP cameras you see on our van. You can also go with Onvif enabled cameras so you’re also not reliant on the manufacturers own App. If going for ones that do rely on cloud it is definately worth going for a more established brand (Eg the Reolink camera I show in the video or Arlo, Blink, Wanscam) as they are much less likely to stop providing the service than an unknown brand.

Hi, we noticed that you have wifi cameras fixed to the side of your van. We are trying to do the same thing. We get a great picture during the day, but at night the picture is dark and all we see is the white of the side of the van, I think the white of the van is reflecting back to the camera and blinding it, maybe?. Could you tell me if you have the same problem, if not how would I solve it, Thanks, Terry.

Hi, yes this can be a problem when the Infra red emitters kick in in the dark, unless you are able to manually adjust the aperture / exposure on the camera in the menus, the only real way to solve it is to have less of the side of the van in the picture so thhat it sets it right for the surroundings. However do make some test footage with a people byt he side of the van as you may find that when the exposure is set for the surrounding dark area that faces etc can be over exposed making identification harder.
