I feel ya. I've had knee surgery and that took 8 months to come back from. Ankle surgery wasn't too bad. Never hurt my hand that bad. But why do every thing the hard way. Get yourself some UCO Windproof, Waterproof matches, or a Bic lighter. I'm 62 and now have tingly feet, pretty much all the time. But I just do not let it slow me down. So use your "Bad" hand, they more you use it, the quicker it will heal. Hands are however the worst since you use them all the time. So push it till it hurts, just a bit too start with, then more and more. But for now, keep it simple. Stay safe, and keep on keeping on.

I have seen people trying to use a ferro rod one handed😊. They stuck the knife into the wood, and drew the rod back across the spine. Your method worked at least as well as theirs. Congratulations 🎉

I do stuff with one handed for all of my life and I always thinking outta the box, the best pocket knives are the automatic pocket knives that always has worked for me and I saw that you were having some of problems with the blade and the fire rod. I’ve learned to put the knife in a piece of wood where it can’t go anywhere then take the fire rod pull backwards to get the fire going

Fink's junkyard I'm glad you're hand is getting much better! I was going to go camping last week. I have a new e-scooter and I was going to do my first minimalist backpack. I was on my way to the store. I hit a hole in the road. I broke my hip that was one week ago. I have had a whole hip replacement. So my new e-scooter is in the box. It's great to see you making such good progress. In my case the feeling took longer to get back than the motion. People used to believe that severed nerves couldn't be reattached and function again. I an living proof that that is not true. Hang in there. I pray that you get sensation back like I did.

Kudos for giving it a go James, just don't overdo and wind up back at square one. Take it little by little and get some flexibility and strength built up, you'll be good in no time.. Been 100+ here for a solid month, finally got some moisture a couple days back, God smiled on us. Nice fire, delicious food, smell of the wet desert air to go to bed with...perfect. Good to see you back at it, and the good progress being made. Never give up, never surrender, being independent, is a must the last almost 2 years I’ve been in a wheelchair with only one leg. Diabetic since 1998, I have CHF. , and I also have kidney failure, so I’m on dialysis three times a week and currently going legally blind. I just sold my truck another day because I can’t drive really. I saw everything is getting out and going hiking and camping and fishing and one day I will again just with different rules and disciplinarian actions for myself . Like I said, brothers game good to see you stay with his brother. Best wishes from South Houston. .

I had thumb surgery almost a year ago now and I’m still recovering. Getting everything back takes time and your injury is effecting your entire hand, so be patient and be prepared for it to take even longer. But with a positive attitude and determination I know you will get there. You definitely have both of those qualities!
