Awesome!! I gotta check out all the conifers up there! The LA views are legit, and so are the views of all those trees planted up there! They look so lush for being at such a low elevation!

I wonder if there are any Pacific Douglas-Firs (Pseudotsuga menziesii var. menziesii) planted there. I saw a cone of one displayed in the pine cone case display on the video!

I'm getting ready to hike to Henninger Flats this upcoming Saturday. I heard that everything is closed and it's only open to full day hiking.
@HuckOutdoors29 күн бұрын
I've heard that as well. You could go a couple miles further and camp at idlehour camp.

I'm sl jealous Jason. This is one of the two places I try to bring our scouts to every year. I use to show a video on the history of the Mt. Lowe railway in the museum. The views are incredible. You made me relive it. Thanks for sharing. By the way, on days where the fog rolls in it's incredible to watch it roll over LA and move into San Bernardino and Riverside counties.
@HuckOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
It would have been great to watch that fog!

Just like I’m watching Huell Howser Show, great content in here. I can’t wait to bring my family there as an educational trip. Isn’t that a Cherry Blossom tree?

Thanks for the Huell compliment! Would be another great spot to bring the boys backpacking. I don't think they were a cherry tree, but it did look similar.

Cool Place to visit. Gets busy on the weekends but amazing views! Best sites are up in the Middle camp area. But there was a homeless guy living up there for quite awhile in a make shift Tent and he'd harass people camping in the middle camp area. I don't understand why the rangers hadn't kicked him out! Hopefully they have by now. Were the bathrooms open? Last time I was there they were closed.
@HuckOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
I believe the homeless guy was gone. When we got there and checked in, the ranger set us up in the lower camp.
@rgvkid2505 жыл бұрын
Awesome! I wish they added floor fire pits! That would make it perfect with those views at night! How cold did it get?
@butch12543 жыл бұрын
I know the guy you are talking about! He through a rock at me on a random weeknight when I was pretty much alone up there… he kept creeping on me all night…finally had to threaten him within an ounce of his life to make him go away! This is the problem when camping too close tot he city i find. Bummer! Rangers need to step up, but apparently they can’t do all that much.
