What the tire industry needs is a rating for puncture resistance. There should be standardized test conditions and it should be easy to do. For people who live where #2 crushed rock is used on logging roads, and/or where small crushed rock is spread for traction in the winter, this is a huge deal unless you like to just drive a 5 -10 MPH all the time.

I have these on my 2019 Toyota Highlander AWD. No complaints other than slight MPG hit over the OEM tire. These are not low rolling resistance tires. But the stiffer sidewall makes the vehicle handle much much better, but still has great compliance, so the ride quality is still very good. I always thought the Highlander suspension was too soft and floaty. But these tires fixed that. The suspension is actually well sorted, the oem tires were just too soft and squishy. Very happy with them. Best upgrade thus far.

What’s the mpg difference?
@Yardie_in_Tampa2 жыл бұрын
@@matthewmacintyre93461 to 2 at highway speeds. Less at slower speeds. They weigh 5lbs more than OEM tires, so that extra rolling mass is felt. But it's definitely a lot sturdier and works well with the stock suspension in terms of compliance.

I hooe these are okay in the winter. I love in pa, so I don't get much snow. A few storms each winter. I do have a job where I have to go, no matter what, so thats something to think about. I don't want dedicated snows, because it just gets annoying to me switching them. N then I leave em on out of laziness n they burn off in one summer and im back to where i started next winter. So hopefully these are okay.
@todtalk39122 жыл бұрын
I did order em on Tire rack. I got them for 600 for the set n that was with a 120 instant rebate. So whatever I guess. Its for my subi. N i love that thing. It only gets the best. I was torn between these (i wish cooper made the at3 4s in the size I need, they do not) wildpeak at, Yoko g15 at and was considering the at2's but i dont care for those that much. Anyway, I picked these. Then I get an email today stating they are running behind on inventory and it will be a few days longer than expected. Whatever I guess.

How did they do this past winter. Also in PA and looking at these for a ‘24 Crosstrek.
@todtalk3912 Жыл бұрын
@godwhomismike they are amazing tires tbh. I put a ton of miles on my car n they still have a ton of tread (not saying they'll they'll last as long as they claim, idk that). The only thing I did notice, these tires are squared off (much like truck tires because they are essentially just that). Whereas, almost every other tire you out on one of these cars are rounded on the edges. So you do have more ground coverage which is great for slower offroad type driving, but they would probably be better in the snow if they were rounded instead of squared off. Regardless, they did great. They were also brand new for the winter. So this winter might tell more. I do literally put enough miles I may need another set by then, idk. I would def buy them again. One thing for sure they did was made hitting potholes or anything rough on the road is nothing for these tires. They make the vehicle drive much better. Driving in the rain is amazing. They do kick up more water than any tire I've ever had, but I suppose thats technically a good thing. I have no true complaints than the tires are squared off. So the negative affect that can have in the snow is when u hit a pile of snow or something (like going from plowed to unplowed roads at some sort of speed, if ur going slower its irrelevant) its like hitting the snow with a plow vs driving over it, if that makes sense. Idk the best way to describe it.
@godwhomismike Жыл бұрын
@@todtalk3912 Thank you for the detailed breakdown. Someone was telling me about their Falen Wildpeak Trails, and they complained that after a little use/wear, they would get extremely squirrely in the rain on the highway and had terrible grip.

Can you do a video comparing the all season tires choices for this tire size? 265/45r21? I have a 2022 Chevrolet Blazer with 21" rims and there's only a handful of tires I can choose from. The vehicle came with Continental CROSSCONTACT LX SPORT tires and they are complete junk. 4000 mi later and the front driver side treads are decentering already. The only other choices I have seen are the Michelin Latitude Tour HP and Crossclimat 2, Yokohama Geolandar X-CV, Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season, and Bridgestone Dueler H/L 400. Where I live, we get about 1" to 8", normally 2" of snow max, of snow at a given moment in the winter and I have unplowed highways that I have to drive to get to work. I don't off-road and when I do, it's on gravel/dirt roads. I spend 98% of the time on paved roads.

Thanks Dave, they are! It also really depends on which size you're using. For comparison I checked the 265/50R20 111T XL in a Ridge Grappler compared to a similar sized 265/50R20 111V XL Nomad Grappler. Those sizes have the same inflated dimensions when it comes to diameter and width, but the Ridge Grappler weighs a full 5 lbs. more per tire than the Nomad Grappler!

I also drive an outback and worked installing tires for 5 years. I’d say that the nomad grappler is more comparable to the falken wildpeak at3w tire. My father owns a forester and had the wildpeak at trail tires on it. They were quiet and very good on or off the street. We went to the beach, did a few water crossings, dirt roads, and light off roading without a single issue. The nomad grapplers are a little more off road capable I’d imagine than the wildpeak at trail tires due to more open tread pattern.

G. Fortin you're right! It ain't the thickest when compared to the Ridge Grappler or other similar tires from Nitto. My guess is this tire is positioned in that special range for people who are in between since it's only offered in 17" 18" & 20" sizes. The Ridge Grappler is offered in 16" 17" 18" 20" 22" & 24" and also has a higher price point from what I've seen.
