Thought to keep the same as the T005 OE then decided on the new T6...then last minute went for the F1 Asym 6 following reviews it is superior on wet & dry. Comfort great. Happy with them and the rim protector.

I’m not a fan of Bridgestone. I’ve just swapped my factory fit S001 for Goodyear Asymmetric 6 and the car is night and day different. The grip, comfort, road noise all vastly improved and its even added abit of playfulness to the chassis when on it.

Recently fitted the Asymmetric 6 also - on 3 series touring. Only a few hundred miles so far but really impressed with them as an all-rounder. Especially in the wet.

I'm not saying all Bridgestone are good, I've never been wowed by S001s either and Asymmetric 6 is an incredible tyre but the Turanza 6 for this car met my needs better

Fitted Turanza 6 on my mini JCW stage 1, worst tyres I’ve tried on car which have included Hankook Evo3, PZeros, premium contact 7. Wet traction was by far the worst of all. Now running Bridgestone Sport. I don’t do enough miles to care about Fuel economy, grip is everything in a powerful FWD for me🙂

Tyre choice is definitely personal and specific to the individual use case. I have settled on AD09 because they work in the wet on road but can handle proper abuse on track.

After a puncture in a rear tyre, some idiots at National Tyres put a run flat Bridgestone on my Dad's car. It was picked up at the next MOT, then connected the crashy ride like the shock was on the way out. Changed the tyre to a normal tyre, ride was so much better.
@Jobbo735 ай бұрын
Interesting to see your fuel economy improve - I commented on a previous video that my S6 regularly sees over 50mpg and now your S4 is doing similar. I’ve also just replaced my tyres and stuck with the original A0 Conti Sportcontact 6. That’s partly because they managed 30,000 miles. Hope you keep the S4 a good long time to check the Turanzas’ wear.

I changed to Turanza 5 from Goodyear Asymmetric 5 - much better ride quality and doesn't try to kill me at every roundabout when its less than 12 degrees. I wouldn't really go back to a performance tyre unless I was using all of the performance

Superb test Andrew. I went down the same thought process recently for my D4 A8 sport executive. I need a tyre for all weather, that is comfortable and reasonably fuel efficient. Having 275/35/21’s I do not have a huge choice. In the end I opted for conti sport 7’s. Softer tyre to its competitors, better steering feel and decent wet weather results, also much better priced to the Michelin Ps5. I completely understand what you meant about aquaplaning with wide tyres, not nice is it, even with quattro. Next time round I will have a look at a more comfort type of tyre. Thank you for your video. 🙏🏻

I think one major factor you left out is the Potenza S001 is a 14 year old summer tire! Whilst the Turanza T6 is Bridgestone's brand new touring tire incorporating the latest cutting edge technology and is currently one of the highest performing tires in its class. The S001 only exists due to being OEM on various models including the Nissan Z which is infamous for not being up to modern grip and performance standards compared to the latest UHP summer tires including the relatively new Potenza Sport which is one of the best performing UHP tires in its class. I think your test was a great test and represents a choice alot of buyers will have to make. Although I think that information would of good to include given you're testing and comparing one of the best touring tires to one of the worst UHP summer tires.

Thanks for all your brilliant reviews volkswizard. I've the exact same thing with my tyres on my Audi TT. The MO mark on the offside rear, the others had the Audi AO mark (All are continental Sport Contact 5P's tyres) Moreover, this MO tyre has worn and perished slightly quicker than the Audi AO marked ones, which has forced my hand to buy a full set soon.

The whole point was to analyse the comfort tyre benefits and aspects. Especially how Andrew uses his S4. The Ps5 is a sport tyre… The Bridgestone Andrew chose is better in the wet, quieter on the motorway, more fuel efficient and has a better ride quality than a Ps5. He does own other performance motors which will always get performance tyres, but the argument made for the S4 was a very good one here.

@@AUDIDOIT if he wants comfort he'd be better off taking the low profiles off and fitting something with a bigger sidewall or buying a Volvo most German cars are setup quite firm I've found
@AUDIDOIT5 ай бұрын
@@JohnnyMQB I hear you but the problem is this interferes with the proper specifications for the car, which can in most cases invalidate insurance. You would be amazed how a softer compound feels on a car. Maybe in the case of an old bus of a car I would go up a sidewall choice but not on a relatively new Audi S4. Plus you loose accurate speedo readings. You are having a giggle about buying a Volvo though surely 😜😉. Sturdy cars but no Volvo would tempt me away from anything Audi..

Great info thanks! 6db is huge as every 3db is a doubling or halving of "power" depending on direction of measure. Personal use is the biggest factor IMO, I'm in Alberta Canada and it's very dry here so for me wet handling isn't the biggest consideration. Thanks.

I used to have michelin pilot sport 4 on my leon, and was debating what to get next. I went with Goodyear f1 assym 6 [from doing a bit of reading/watching tyre reviews], and I really prefer them. The ultimate grip directly after changing was slightly less [might have been due to michelins were down to the minimum nearly and Goodyears with new chunky tread and not bedded in], but the turn in is the biggest change. For a little while I was turning in, then out and in again, as the Goodyears had much sharper turn in. Where as Michelins were a bit lazy turn in, then grip. I prefer sharper turn in [more direct response], and they were £50 each cheaper at the time, which is not to be sneezed at either.
@MATB12785 ай бұрын
The Goodyear tyres are very good tbh. I only got the Michelins because they were on offer but I would stay with the Goodyears. They are good enough for daily use and reasonable price.

The old generation Turanzas were very good on rolling resistance at the slight expense of wet and dry grip and braking. If that's not important to you, you may be happier with Contis or Michelins. Even Goodyear.
