I appreciate these because I haven’t watched all your shows. Now I can see if I’m interested (always) and can find the long one and watch it. Thanks

Thank you for the feedback! I really think these clips on certain topics could be helpful, but I don't want to bombard people too much with podcast content.

I have been diagnosed with a grade 3 ACL rupture on my right knee, I cannot play any sports due instability but I have come across knee braces such as Donjoy which I have seen people use with ACL issues. Could this be an option for me to play sports again without the need of surgery?

Thanks for the info! I have a partial acl tear although no MRI yet, just lachman test showed lateral side is stable while medial side is a bit moving forward. I've regained full ROM and stability is at 90% or even more now. I can do strength training with moderate weights I just still feel the inflammation inside which is lingering and is mainly my remaining issue now. I'm 3.5 months. Is this normal? I would appreciate any tips on how to heal this inflammation as it's causing me to get tired quickly when I stand. I use anti-inflammatory cream and took NSAID for 10 days, but still.
@RehabScience6 ай бұрын
I'm glad to hear your ROM is full and you have gained most of your joint stability back. It's not surprising that you still have some inflammation 3.5 months after your intial injury. The ACL will continue to heal for 9-12 months, so you may continue to experience some inflammation and swelling during this time period.

Yes, im very interested in this one, I had a knee basketball injury years ago and the doctor was eager to get to surgery I agreed until I discovered that he wanted to rupture my Achilles to repair it and not use any other tissue, like Cadaver tissue I asked him about a brace or something similar to a Mallet Finger injury repair and he became angry...I used my best judgement to heal and I still play competitive basketball now...just getting older but didn't have lingering issues from my self treatment

Glad to hear you listened to your intuition and were able to return to play with the normal healing process.

I had an ACL reconstruction surgery in 2019. Some people will say they have an ACL tear and they haven't had surgery, but it actually wouldn't be a full ACL tear. Surgery is absolutely required if one wants to play high level competitive sports. You can try rehabilitation and strengthening before surgery, but young people who want to play sports which involve pivoting and changing directions suddenly (unlike running) need reconstruction surgery.

Lots of lower level athletes have full rupture heal around 30 -50%

I had an X-ray and the doctor said it was a complete cut and it appeared in the report as well. Then I did the rehabilitation and had an X-ray again and went to the physical therapist and had him see the X-ray and he said there was healing. Two weeks later the report showed an almost complete cut. I do not know whether there is actually healing or if there is a difference of opinion between doctors, but the specialist saw all the MRI images from the moment of the injury and compared the old and new images, and at that moment the report was not written . I do not know what to do. Since I have never suffered from any confusion when walking, O God, when playing football, I feel a knock and betrayal in the knee, and the betrayal happened to me 3 times, and I walk very normally, and I only have a ligament without cartilage. A doctor advised me not to have the operation. It will not add anything to you. I still don't know what to do, please guide me

that will not show up in X-ray though. You can only see that kind of information on an MRI scan. Seriously wondering how they inspect your ACL via X-ray

I have a cruciate ligament. I had an MRI and it showed that it was completely torn. I had it done again and it became almost complete. All the orthopedists tell me that I must have surgery. But the physical therapists have another opinion. That there is healing and I must complete the rehabilitation, but the orthopedists do not agree with its ability to heal, which made me confused. I have been injured for a year and a half.. I do not know what to do. As I am continuing with rehabilitation without surgery, I fear that all my efforts have been in vain and I must have surgery and rehabilitation, which makes me feel very frustrated.

Some of us don’t even have an ACL. Yea we don’t play tennis, but we (as in me) ambulate pretty darn good.

Question? Im a professional licensed massage therapist. I've been experiencing pain in my acl region when stepping up stairs...feels like it might tear out one day. I am very very active at 64 and Im not gonna settled down anytime soon any suggestions??? I want it to be the strongest it can be.......Thank you guys!
@US-bubble-lw7vz2 ай бұрын
go see a doctor, an MRI will show where exactly the injury is if there is one. might be one of the ligaments or your meniscus. Only a thorough examination will tell you the course of actions going forward

I had ACL torn completely from middle on dated 12 Oct 24 due to bowling in cricket and twisting of my right knee a loud pop I heard at that time which I was worried as something serious I knew there and then later on 13 I took MRI after consulting a orthopedic surgeon who said I need to have ACL reconstruction Surgery but there is no significant Pain in my knee I can move and is going to office regularly I am now in dilemma that If I really require an ACL surgery as surgery itself is another injury.
@ismaildashyal9152 ай бұрын
Same situation here (while bowling) I would recommend you to go for a another or two more orthopaedic surgeons because in my case the surgeon had some connections with mri center he asked me to get a surgery but when I visited another two surgeons they said mri imaging was correct but not the report they physically tested my knee before seeing mri they both conclude that I just had minor injury to acl and lcl and suggested not surgical rehab Just an advice

hi i want to ask if partial acl tear can be heal 100 percent like the same before we got hurt?after using prp.
@RehabScience6 ай бұрын
Many partial ACL tears can heal and return to normal in terms of joint stability and function. Some people continue to experience some joint instability and must rely on their neuromuscular system to make up for this lost joint stability. PRP might help with pain, but it probably won’t increase joint stability.

Hi, I have a 50% ACL tear, do I need surgery? Can I regain ACL health and repair my ACL with exercise and rehabilitation?
@RehabScience6 ай бұрын
You would only need surgery if you are experiencing joint instability. This would feel like the joint is going to give out or buckle when you are putting weight on your leg. If you cannot stabilize the joint with your muscles, then you may need to have surgery. However, I would try rehab for 4-6 months since you only have a 50% tear.
