Can Budget Be Good? - Samsung A52 5G - Worth it in 2024? (Real World Review)

CORRECTION the 4G version has the Snapdragon 720G and 90hz, while the 5G version I have here is the 750G and 120hz screen. Regardless, if I couldn’t tell, that’s not a good thing for the phone (fun fact: the 4G and 5G screen is the exact same, so 90hz is a limitation Samsung put for battery/processor reason)
A couple years ago the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G came out as the budget king. Then Google and Apple responded, and people started to realize what the A52 really was. Is it still worth buying now or are there better options out there?

Correction, the screen is 120hz and Snapdragon 750G (for the 5G model, the 4G model is 90hz and Snapdragon 720G). I blame gsmarena and phonearena for showing me the wrong specs, and Samsung for making it difficult to even find the specs.

Been rocking Samsung A52 5G 256GB since Nov 2021. Phone still works pretty well for me.

Had it since Dec 21. OK phone but camera is a nightmare. Shutter lag has always been bad, also have to wait 20 seconds to view any pic I just snapped. How's your camera been? Thinking of swapping to s24, at least that has dex and can reverse charge my galaxy watch

I don't consider the A52 a budget phone - it's a midrange phone and a decent one

Also I'll tell you why buying a new midrange phone is better than buying a used flagship. Battery life. I bought a used S21 FE to replace my A52 and I went back to my A52 simply because of the battery life, the headphone jack, and the SD card slot.

Mine just got the Android 14 update and it's running even better now. I'm actually thinking about switching back to this phone from my A54. Very smooth

@@jcantonelli1 it feels premium to me especially compared to the A52 but I love my A52 because of the size and the headphone jack. Probably one of the last if not the last midrange Samsung phone with a headphone jack.

Turns out the A52 is 90hz, while the 5G version is 120hz. This also means that the Snapdragon 720G is actually a 750G. That said, both don’t mean much in the end, as even I didn’t notice the screen or processor speed when I am constantly using 120hz phones.

I have the 4g version of this and it's still running as smoothly as when I first got it. I just do factory reset after every software update and use my backup phone's smartswitch to put everything back on it with the updated software. I think it starts slowing down and the battery life gets worse if you don't factory reset it after upgrading the software.

Love this phone! 1 year now...$230 new here in China! HEADPHONE JACK! OIS, waterproof, 4 years of updates! Nobody cares about audio anymore?!!! Cameras and gaming, that's it? Pfffff Coming from LG phones for years... This is a blessing 👽

That being said, I agree that this phone isn't worth more than 150 dollars. It's good for basic tasks, but I would definitely understand why a person would want to upgrade to at least a phone like the A54.

Had the non-5G version for about 3 years now. This phone is not good. The processor is noticeably bad. The phone operates slower than a lot of phones older than it. I do not recommend. At least it lasted me 3 years but my previous phone lasted 6.

In 2024 you get decent phone with 52 but maybe 1 more upgrade and Thats it. Buy A54 or 55

I did and it is very very fast picture are so clear and video wow picture perfect KZbin and movies wow wow wow crystal clear this phone was like it was made yesterday and it's 2024 and it keeps up with any of the most expensive phones available that nuts and she already is 5G that's why you can bet it will stay good for all of 3 more years without a dought maybe 2028 you wound want a different phone
