Yep. And they get attached to them - as long as we fulfill our petting and other duties.

Of course they do. Most animals recognise their most familiar humans and other animals and their behaviour alters according to their relationship with the particular individual, whether person or other animal. Cats do recognise faces as well and I’ve no idea where the idea that they don’t comes from. This video is not made by experienced ‘animal people’.
