Can you do one on burning incense? My gf believes in Jesus, but her former cultural practices in Buddhism are hard to untie. They are not burned for prayers, but burned for respect to a family member not in front of a statue of Buddha, this is sounds similar to leaving flowers on the grave. Similarly food is placed in a picture of a dead relative, not for consumption but in memory of what they liked when living. It seems genuine, however to close in line with pagan belief of the afterlife if someone looks at this without knowing details, possibly causing another to stumble.

Whaddo You Meme?? Hi. I don't want to be mean be you didn't cover the topic from a true christian point of view. It was confusing and you failed to establish both the principles beyond the issue and the recommandations the Church should provide. I will try to bring you the point of view of the eastern orthodox Christian I am, and this point of view is linked to the way the Church has always understood what to do with the commandments of the Torah ever since the very first council in Jerusalem, with all the apostles. Jesus didn't say he was not going to change a iota in the Torah, he said he was not going to change a iota in the Law. So we have to ask ourselfs, is the Torah the Law Jesus was speaking about? What did Jesus say about that? In the sermon on the mount, he states very loudly that the scribes (of the Torah) and the Pharesees (doctors of the Torah) added man made traditions to the Law of God. And he illustrated that by cancelling some of those man made laws, the most famous one being the law of the Talion (retaliation) "an eye for an eye...". One can found this law 3 times in the Torah! Nevertheless Jesus said "You have heard "an eye for an eye" but I tell you, turn the other sheek..." From whom did people heard "an eye for an eye"? From the Pharesees quoting the Torah. What commandment of God do we have for sure concerning killing other people? "You shall not kill." If we truely understand what Jesus was preaching on the mount, we have to use our brain and try to sort out what is from God and what is man made tradition in the Torah. That was exactly the first debate the early Church had : What about circumcision? Jesus said nothing, but the Torah said whe have to circumcise our boys. Now we have all those Greek fellows who want to convert to christ, but they are not circumcised. The answer is knows : Circumcision is not mandatory (and you, US citizens should stop mutilating your boys). The next step in christian theology was "can we understand the intentions of God and therefor separate God's Law from arbitrary man made traditions?" And the holy fathers of the Church did the job, by studying why Jesus canceled the ritual washings, authorised pork, stopped people from stonning adultery women etc. And they came out with ethical rules : Purety is about secret intentions. Not about showing gestures of purification to others. Sin is fighted internaly. Not by throwing stones to others. So. What about tatoos, haircut and beard? Here is the wisdom of the orthodox Church : Those are apparences. The true question is the intention behind. Why do you invest time, effor and pain into altering your appearence? What are you trying to show to others? And what realationship do you have with you own self? Our orthodox monks and priests don't show of. They dont cut theit hair or beard. They wear black robes. Because they are not trying to gain influence on others by their apparence. For the same reason, women are asked to cover their hair when prophetising. Ordinary people do as they like. Here in Greece, women wear bikinis on the beach. Some people do have tatoos. That's part of normal socialisation. Nevertheless there is one point a christian should know : In the book of revelation, saint John describes the fact that everyone, rich or poor, will have to receive the lark of the beast on the right hand or the forehead otherwise he will not be allowed to buy and sell. 3 countries have already announced their intend to swich to a cashless economy : Canada, the EU and Israel. And we know that it has been discussed in the EU commissions to implement RFID hypodermic implants as means of payment. The current tatoo fashion is a way to normalise such ideas. We, orthodox christians are vigilant. You should be too. God bless.

@Emmanuel 44.... That is simply idolatry. It is a worship and it doesn't matter if it is self-worship or anyone else. Worship or adoration must only be to God and His Christ. Not agruable, rather than saying I did it, i ask God for forgiveness. Please dont do try to justify. I met christian who where convert from rough life had tatoo, they confess saying my past life was bad. I dont tatoo after I met Christ Jesus in my life. This is a profound answer from a Christian. Your are set a part for God how you wear garment, not like the people in the world wears, so tatoo is your choice, not from God set apart people. Food example is irrelevant to tatoo. The final verdict! getting tatoo is wrong in the sight of God. Follow only the role model of our Lord Christ Jesus, not any one. Will Jesus tatoo. God bless your guys.

There was a time I considered getting a tattoo and spent a lot of time looking into this. It was Deuteronomy 12:30-31 that really got me thinking. I started looking at the church of today and could see how we strive so much to blend in with the culture rather than stand out from it. I understand many believers get scripture tattooed and such to "glorify" God. Personally, based on the passage I noted I am not fully convinced it actually does glorify our heavenly Father. BUT at the same time I do not look down upon my brothers and sisters in Christ who have tattoos. I love and respect them all the same. I can honestly say I am not certain on God's view of tattoos and because He has not revealed this to me I have to say no to getting ink because this is an area I can have a clean conscience before Him. I’m not saying that it’s necessarily wrong to get tattoos but I do think the Christians of today could legitimately consider seriously ways in which to stand out from the world around us, possibly including things like not getting tattoos which historically are associated with pagan culture or rebellion. On the other hand I know tattoos are often the start of worthwhile sometimes even gospel conversations as most people don’t mind asking about a person’s tattoos. Certainly Christian character is more important to our witness and I’m sure that tattoos don’t qualify as a salvation issue no matter which side you favour.

This video turned out to be a lot more than just tattoos. I'm glad I clicked. I don't have tattoos but don't see them as a sin. But what I thought was really interesting was the conversation about the different covenants and how the requirements are different. Also, what Vocab brought up about understanding the heart or Spirit behind the law is really important. We want to be conformed into His image and His ways. Practically speaking that could be different in different contexts. For example, after Paul argues that the Gentiles do not need to be circumcised, then he has Timothy circumcised. This is because of the context where he was going to be trying to reach the Jews. We do not need to be "under the law" but if it helps win some to Christ, then "be all things to all people."

Circumcision is not needed for salvation. Timothy was circumcised because he was a Jew and culturally Jews needed to be circumcised. Jews observe the Passover. No uncircumcised person can partake of the Passover (Exodus 12 :48 And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to the LORD, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof.).

Tattooing is sin being that God forbade HIS people from partaking in what the pagans practiced to their gods.
@jonathanabraham88186 жыл бұрын
I think this is an issue where you are led by the Spirit. First and foremost, tattoos are nothing but imaginations in the form of illustrations. So, there is really no divine purpose in wanting to ink yourself. Even if it is for a personal matter, place it before the Lord and trust that your plea or cry for Him is more than visible, rather He sees it through your heart. Furthermore, Paul even mentions that if we can avoid doing something for the benefit of others and to glorify Christ, then we should do it with all humility. In other words, tattoos for the most part are being used for the wrong reasons around the world. So, if we as Christians can give up these small desires to better direct people to Christ, then I would say that getting tattoos should not be of concern to us. We should also not condemn others who have tattoos, but definitely try and communicate the message of wisdom and love found through Christ. Amen.

In the video we discussed the context of that particular scripture, and what was going on, while also mentioning the verse right before it which says we aren't supposed to cut our hair or trim our beards. I just want to say that it is awesome that you are being cautious about the decisions you make and especially something that will be permanently on your body. I just want to clear some things up from what you said in your comment. First, we are no longer under the Old Testament law. We don’t even follow all of the 10 commandments today as we do not keep the sabbath. Unless the teachings of the Old Testament are echoed in the New Testament then we are not expected to follow them. While the New Testament does say that we can not have idols, it does not tell us not to carve images and the moral teaching of the verse was not about images but about worshipping some earthly thing. Second, if you are going to apply that verse to tattoos you must also apply it to all of the other areas of your life. Do you have photographs or paintings? Have you ever taken pictures? If you do, then why do you apply this verse to tattoos but not those areas? Overall, if you are unsure about tattoos then I think it is definitely best for you to not get them. But at the same time, be careful that your convictions are based on accurate interpretation of the Bible and not tradition and opinions.

@@macumus The 10 Commandments are called the Moral Law. The Mosaic law deals with Jewish customs, rituals and community regulations. The moral law is never abolished because it would be absurd to say you can kill, steal, commit adultery, lie, blaspheme God's name, have other gods etc. That would be crazily absurd. This applies forever because the moral law works side by side with the atoning sacrifice of Christ on the cross. Mosaic law was written by Moses, the Moral law was written by God's fingers.....what was written by Moses is temporal, what is written by God is eternal. Without the moral Law it is not clear what Jesus died for. You lie, you steal, you kill, you commit adultery etc are all examples of breaking the moral law and this is the knowledge of sin and the wages of sin is death with no exception. Christ as an innocent sinless man paid that wages of sin on the cross for all who believe and trust in His works of mercy and grace.....on the cross He yelled out "it is finished" meaning the debt has been fully paid. On judgement day everyone will stand convicted of sins and will have to accept to serve their sentence for breaking the law in hell because this is the demand of a just God enforcing divine justice......those who accept the payment for their sins by Christ can walk free as their wages or fine penalty which they must pay with their lives have been legally and rightfully paid in full by Christ and this mercy is extended through atoning sacrifice resolving the tension between justice and mercy. This is exactly why Jesus said "I have come not to abolish the Law but to fulfil it!

I think we also need to consider Paul's scathing admonition to the Galatians, who were being led into bondage by the judaizers: Galatians 5:4 "You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace." Yikes! "Severed" from Christ? That's something worth pondering. If I feel it sin to get a tat, then for me to believe this, yet fail to do it, it is sin. What I can't do is use my personal convictions as condemnations against others.
@nicholas33546 жыл бұрын
Paul goes to great lengths to choose his words carefully and clearly. We are not under The Law, but The Law is good, and if we believe we will follow The Law because it's our Father's good will. When we break The Law we are forgiven because we are his children if we are in Christ. He specifically speaks of circumcision, saying "We are the circumcision" thus saying circumcision is fulfilled spiritually. He is even boasting of spiritual circumcision being the truer one and thus the fuller fulfillment. This is because The Law states that circumcision is a sign of the covenant which was once of Abraham's biophysical seed but Paul is clear that now it's of Abraham's spiritual seed in our shared faith with Abraham. The sacrifices are fulfilled by Christ as are the priestly duties. Again Paul boasts of greater fulfillment; certainly not the same as ignoring The Law. There is no indication in Scripture that pork became food, pork is toxic to our health even today. Nor is the Sabbath is abolished. The Sabbath is rest on Saturday because God rested the seventh day of creation; therefor the reason still stands. As I said, Paul goes to great lengths to make this perfectly clear, but those who would rather not obey The Laws Of our Father say the whole Law is abolished. In the sense of Fatherly forgiveness it is no longer Law, but still it's our Father's beautiful will. Yet we are warned repeatedly that lawless ones are not of us. In Paul's time The Temple still stood, yet he already was teaching that we are The Temple. So circumcision, sacrifices, priestly duties, and temple have changed notably, but little else... according to Scripture.

I came across James 4:17 the other day. _"Therefore _*_to him_*_ that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, _*_to him_*_ it is sin."_ It doesn’t say he sinned against the law or sinned against his brother or God, it seems to say he sinned against his own conscience. Interesting.

I have tattoos and have never seen an issue with them as long as they are not offensive to God; i.e. curse words, naked bodies, etc. My mom, on the other hand, has never been a big fan of them. As I tell her; yes my body is a temple and yet it has been bruised, scarred, cut up, and the roof has started to cave in. To me, my tattoos are just a way to add a coat of paint and a work of art. Biblically when it comes to tattoos, piercings, and things along that line, I think we must be like Paul when asked about circumcision. What matters most is our heart.

Question would you draw graffiti all over God's beautiful church's? If no then why would you mark up your body when your body is the dwelling place of God i.e. his temple? That command carries on still for today's Christians and did not just apply for the jews of yesterday, this command falls more in line with cleanliness and sanctification being fit for the dwelling of the Holy Spirit (keeping his temple clean). Although I don't believe that merely having tattoos would send you to hell, but I do believe being save and still going to tattoo parlors to get tatted is an act of disobedience.
@blueblue18916 жыл бұрын
Having tattoos won't send a person to hell, it's what you do with Jesus and the Salvation he offers that sends you to hell or not. But there is one tattoo that will send you to hell, that is taking the mark of the beast. That's why there is this tattoo craze around, to soften these people up to take the mark of the beast. Have one tattoo already, no problem getting another. The person is already softened up to defacing the temple.
@kwacked16 жыл бұрын
I have the same opinion about defacing the body. I have thought about it this way with respect to women getting tattoos. God created all women beautiful like the Mona Lisa. Now let’s put graffiti on the Mona Lisa to improve on what God made. I just don’t buy it. I also don’t understand why Christians so strongly want to participate in the latest worldly fad, because that is the only reason tattoos have entered the church in modern times. 50 years ago tattoos were deemed ugly and worldly by worldly culture. Now they are hip and trendy and acceptable in the world.

I'm going to make it no matter what See, here's the thing... What you class as "grafitti" of one's temple/body, others like me class as glorifying God by marking our bodies with all things Jesus Christ, and scripture. If by doing so it keeps me (and reminds others) of God's glory ; then who are you, or anyone else, to put that into the "graffiti ' category. Grafitti is "vandalism" because it is usually done without permission on anothers property, and usually carries with it a denigrating slur or msg. Tattoos on one's body, honouring our Saviour, do not fall into the same category no matter how you swing it. Remember, Jesus is all about one's heart, NOT the appearance of one's supposed virtue or religiosity (I.e. appearing to be playing by the rules whilst the heart is black)

I got a tattoo when I was 46. I had never considered one before; it wasn’t my thing. My brother, otoh, was very into them, especially tribute tats. When he passed away suddenly in 2012, it just seemed the thing to do for him. I designed my own tattoo, a sprig of rosemary (for remembrance) and his initials. My husband was actually pretty angry. I explained that I had never imagined a situation in which I’d get a tattoo, but then I always expected to die before my little brother. Now? I probably wouldn’t do it now, but at the time it seemed the right thing. I don’t exactly regret my tattoo, I just think that at this distance removed from the event I probably wouldn’t feel the need. *edit* I should add that most of the time, my shoulder is covered & the tat isn’t visible. My sister-in-law and nieces/nephew know it’s there, and they see it as an expression of my love for my brother.

A medical student and friend of mine told me at lunch one day, they had done an autopsy on a sailor who died of Lymphoma . Now he apparently had 3 or 4 reasonably small tattoos by today's standards. When they examined his glands they found them clogged with a black residue. The main causes of this cancer are said to be exposure to radiation and *certain types of chemicals* which can put people at higher risk. For those interested, lymph nodes (or lymph glands) are part of the body's immune system. They filter harmful substances like bacteria and cancer cells from your body, and help fight infections. They also play an important role in cancer diagnosis, treatment and prognosis. Anyone covering their bodies in tattoos by injecting a foreign chemical should think very, very carefully about the long term consequences

Thanks for asking Lizica, I'm not attracted to tattoos on myself to be honest. I wouldn't of had any if not for work. Though I do like the look of them on others. I love art and it was clear I'd be an artist from a very young age. Learned to tattoo I think because my Dad was a biker and one thing I remember vividly about him was his tattoos. I never planned to be a tattooist, just to learn how it's done. But fell into doing it because that ended up being my most sale-able skill. I then got mine because people would often remark that a tattooist without tattoos looked strange. I'm not 100% happy with my looks now, but don't get me wrong I'm not too gutted either... I doubt anyone's 100% happy with there looks. I worry since becoming a Christian more because of the tattoos I've done on others. I know I've tattooed loads of "demonic" stuff on people. I did whatever people asked for without questioning there might be something real behind these things. :/ Its fair enough if your bad decisions effect yourself, but when they might effect others it leaves guilt and confusion. Luckily the cure for that is Jesus. God Bless and take care.
@Jill-jb1jg6 жыл бұрын
Sally Baddeley, I can understand your feelings about giving tattoos of demonic things (you mentioned feeling guilt and confusion): as you say, Jesus is the cure - I just wanted to say Satan might try to give you thoughts leading to guilt and confusion (or they might come just from your own mind) but you can fight them with Scripture, because you’ve confessed what you did (not with full knowledge) and it really has all been wiped off your record! ‘As far as the East is from the West, so far has he removed our sins from us.’ Peace!

This video has the wrong focus. The problem with tattoos is not a verse in leviticus, but that it's a worldly practice. In every covenant we are to be holy and dedicated to the Lord and tattoos are engaging in a practice that comes from the philosophy of the world.

Mantorok to shave and wear clothes is not the same thing since we must shave and wear clothes, but tattoos aren't a must. Moreover, even there we should be careful not to dress like the world and not to be selfish in spending a fortune on looking good when people around the world are starving. We should be salt and light in showing the world that there are more important things in life, like being holy for the sake of Christ. Blessings

Mantorok there is a difference between being holy and being weird... Hence I dress modestly and don't spend a fortune on clothes, showing that clothes aren't important for me.

I think tattoos are wrong. God's law is written on our hearts. I think a conscious is seared if you can't tell God is telling you not to do that. The OT verse does not make a distinction about what the marking is for, it says do not make a marking. There are two commands there. No cuts for the dead, and no tattoo markings. They are separated by 'or' which is generally a logical operator to separate two independent statements with logic, although that might not be the case in some instances. Another issue with tattoos is pride. I'm not sure how you would get any tattoo without a pride issue, even if it was the name of Jesus, a cross, ect. You want people to see it. You want it to be cool.
@MinCraige4 жыл бұрын
The question was answered very early in this video. The context suggests that markings, carvings, or cutting of the hair in honor or recognition of pagan gods/paganism is expressly forbidden. To say that the scripture to which they referred forbids all tattoos would be an over reach.

(Thinking of Corinthians here) So we have no scripture against it, and if your heart condemns you not then we guess its cool for you. Personally I would not get it for reasons of defilement of my body and my heat would condemn me and my brothers would stumble.

Many traditional things like Kosher restrictions seems to me to be in large part public health rules without a dept of public health. Exclusion of some animals included some with parasite problems that could infect people (pigs). Restricting seafood to fish eliminated some health problems with say oysters which can cause problems. Kosher meat includes meat that has been bled well since blood goes bad fast. Talk to any hunter. Storing meat in metal containers is a no-no and that can cause the meat to go bad faster. Don’t know why the meat /milk combo is forbidden. Was an acting chef in a boy scout strict kosher kitchen. Had to keep telling kids they could not have butter for their bread during a meat meal.

They went rather far based on that phrase. A strict Kosher family has two kitchens complete. Two sets of silverware and dishes, pots., pans. Two fridges, stoves, etc. Our kitchens were separated by a chicken wire wall and we had a Rabi to to keep us honest. We opened but did not otherwise touch a bag of flower that was leaning against the wall in the Dairy Kitchen, Oops, we needed it in the Meat Kitchen and were going to move it to the other side of the wall. Got caught. A far as I know all other dietary restrictions involve buying the right food with a K or a U when appropriate.

It's also important to examine one's own motive for wanting/not wanting a tattoo. Are you doing it out of peer pressure? Without consideration? Because you feel it will impress someone? Because it will make you look tougher? I had drawn out or given specifics to the artist for my tattoos and find no sin in it. First off, the new covenant covers much of what was commanded in the old covenant. When it comes to your body being a temple of The Holy Spirit, I think that scripture refers to maintaining health (which I dont see tattoos being unhealthy to the body, its never damaged mine) and respecting that temple in regards to the nature of our fleshly desire aka sin. Tattoos are artwork if used in certain context and can depict good memories and reminders of our faith. I think people overreact and judge something so trivial in the church because they were taught that way, yet it has ZERO effect on our salvation in general. "Graffiti on the temple of God" is an extreme overreach because I dont see the Biblical context of such being that scripture's purpose. At most, its a gray area. If youre going to put skulls, devils, or gang signs I understand the issue but otherwise I think its up to a person's personal convictions not something for others to judge. I'm an artist in all senses, drawing, photography, music, etc and I enjoy putting art on my body and feel no condemnation for it from God. If someone wants to judge it, that's on them, not me. To each their own but this situation is not of much importance in the grand scheme. I've barely even bled from them. If you feel different, that's great...but i'm still covered by grace and dont feel wrong at all
@ramontorres70286 жыл бұрын
Hey, guys! Let me start off by saying that I love your videos. With that being said, when I saw this whole thing about tattoos I was a bit concerned primarily because I'm not too crazy about them. One way to see it is we are to love our neighbors as ourselves and I don't believe if one truly loved themselves they wouldn't want to mark up their bodies. On the other hand, I also believe that God doesn't want us to be abusive/excessive with such things. Like I have seen people (men and women) with tattoos all over their bodies which includes their faces and it seems to me that such folks don't really care much for themselves. It's one thing to have a few but if you are abusing yourself (such as the man who felt he was a parrot and therefore had himself, his face, altered to gain that look than you have another thing coming.) you have to be careful.

Middle guy was correct when he said "we take the principle behind the prohibition seriously" . David is being overly legalistic. The covenant has changed.... but that it is the application of the Law... not the law itself. It is still wrong to get tattoos. The law does not change... only the application. Also where does it say adam was not allowed to eat meat? even if that was the case, the law did not apply then in that world, (a world before the fall) Further more, not marking the skin would come under creation law, that if our skin was to be marked, it would have been done so by God at your birth. Even further... name someone from the bible that had a tattoo? A prophet? A Israelite King? an apostle? While it is not legalistly written, its pretty clear by all standards in the bible and its principles that it is best avoided.

Although we are free, we must not use that freedom to make our brother stumble in his walk with God, like drinking alcohol, you can, but is it wise to drink in the presence of a recovering alcoholic? Also tattoos, you can, but why do you want them? Is it for vanity sake? Then dont do it. Is it to conform into your culture like the maori people of New Zealand? Then maybe you can so as to not look like you think you are better than them, and the tattoo makes witnessing easier into that culture. There seems to be a great divide between people and the belief of tattoos are sinful. But biblically, the association with paganism and idol worship is what is clearly outlined. From the rise of the tattoo culture in the 50s (debatable) the general public’s view on tattoos was not based on the biblical account but by the association with criminals. Many people seem to feel convicted for having tattoos prior to becoming Christian but it is clear that people fear the judgment of man more then they fear God. We are clearly instructed not to live this way. As anything you do you should be mindful of how it makes you look, offensive tattoos is not a good look, just like face tattoos look disrespectful even if it were to say “blessed”. Tattoos are a great conversation starter and this could be a chance for a random person to start a conversation with a Christian. And as they say you could be the only bible the someone will ever hear. Today tattoos have a greater purpose, they can be used to remind people of troubled times they overcame, announce ones faith, cover scars of self harm or injuries, disguise insecurities, increase confidence. Just like you should be mindful of the words you speak, so should you be mindful of your tattoos. God bless you all!

Can't say I've heard that about blue jeans, but the movies part I've heard and totaly understand, especially with movies these days having people dressed immodestly, swearing and blaspheming God and Christ's name up and down, and glorifying senseless violence. However, the tattoo thing, unlike that, is not a matter of opinion but Biblical fact. Yes indeed, it states it in the Law and it was carried over into the new testament. What was done away with in the New Testament where the sacrificial laws/customs, dietary customs, and holy day observations as these things merely pointed ahead to Christ. However, things like the Ten Commandments (minus The Sabbath as putting your faith in the works of Jesus Christ is how we observe the Sabbath in the NT) were carried over into the NT. A study of Hebrews and Galatians would be very helpful. Matthew 5:19 KJV Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. If you have tattoos, I'm not angry at you nor do I see you as any more worse than me. But with love and concern I highly suggest that anyone reading this that's considering getting some ink think twice.

@@joshuaharper6896 Jesus has a Righteous Anger to the Pharisees who were selling Merchandise and collecting finances from the poor. The wolves in sheep's clothing that they are. If you actually read the scripture. Jesus had every right to be angry, offended and upset. God's temple is a place of Holy Worship not a Marketplace for a man's benefit or greed actually. Matthew 21: 12 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, 13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. Spirtual things are spirtually diserned. If you actually read the full context of the scripture you'd understand it. It's dangerous to interpret scripture out of pure emotionalism. If you don't understand God's Authority and Jesus' burdens while he was alive. Out of your flesh which defiles all of US. How could interpret or hear, read scripture the way God has intended us to?

Since Jesus told us not to seek after things that the pagans seek after, i.e. food, drink, clothing then why would we seek after any of these other things that don’t truly satisfy either? He told us what to seek. The kingdom of God and it’s righteousness. Set your hearts and minds on things above.

I would like to get a verse or words of Christ on my arm in a form of bands or 'chains' to show that Christ is my master while also having a constant physical reminder of what I believe so even when I forget I can look and see it. But I can understand why someone might not find that to be their style. To me it's more like decorating the temple. @@DavidElendu That’s right. I can’t provide scripture that condemns tattooing yourself. I think Christians who are against tattoos are against them based off of their cultural beliefs and interpretation of verses such as the one you mentioned(1Cor6:19). There’s just no way to be dogmatic either way and it certainly isn’t a think the body of Christ should fight or divide over. I got tattoos before I was saved and I regret them. God see intent, and the practice of that intent in men. Men most of the time dont, though they are commanded to do so. Tatoo at best when our intention are pure, becomes a distraction. Distracted those who we want to reach. But as those whom anyone with a tatoo wanted to be reached, they should not be distracted by the tatoo. Me thinks, it is harder to convince oneself not to be distracted by their own tatoo, than to convince others not to be distracted from their tatoo. There are saying, dont pass judgement easly to others. But what mostly taken place is our own heart is pass judgement continously to ourself. Thats the hardest test; our own judgement to ourself. I have tattoos. I have gauges. I lead worship in my church. I love the Lord, His son Jesus whom died on the cross for ALL of my sins, and am in love with His precious Holy Spirit. I have had many encounters where many people were shocked to see someone who looks like me be so in love with the Lord through how I live in regards to the way I speak and the way I love. Through this simple revelation, through my testimony, many have come to follow the Lord. By their fruits they shall be known. Many are fascinated with the story behind my tattoos, to which I quickly turn it and ask them, "Hey, do you know Jesus?" Blows them away every time! I am a PK and have been all my life. I grew up in a very legalistic church. I know that side of it, and I know the other side of it. But it's so refreshing to know that there is now NO condemnation for those who ARE IN CHRIST! The Lord uses whatever means necessary to get his Love out to His people. God bless everyone of you!

Lizica Dumitru I don't have any...but have thought about using them as a tool. A place of ice breaking conversation starter about seeing things that are only surface level when God ultimately knows what is in the heart. I have thought about various scriptures that I could reference....I wouldn't look at this temporary vessel as a thing that is to be placed in a higher honor than being sanctified as this body will eventually be done away with. Jesus did lots (a few) things that folks didn't feel lined up with what they considered holy or right for the people or the culture....whether they follow Jesus to trap HIM or follow HIM cuz they are curious or they follow HIM cuz they are rebellious as well...there is room for growth and renewal in all of them. Ultimately I don't believe that getting a tattoo after being saved is a deal breaker for Jesus. Only HE knows what plans there are for the ones that are His. He had to put Peter in a place of forced humility when he (Peter) looked at John right after being restored and in "good graces" with Jesus and put his focus on John. And asked "what about him?" Jesus asked Peter...."what concern of it is yours how he serves me?" This verse struck me several years ago when I was wanting Jesus to heal me like the paralytic and was trying to force a healing or a blessing on my terms and wanted to not have a surgery...but an experience based on how Jesus helped someone other than me.... Fast forward to now....I have a scar. Sometimes God works through docs. I now have evidence of some things on the inside that needed addressing...(degenerative disk disease) So are all surgeries bad cuz the skin has been punctured? I know that with God being the ultimate authority and having Him I've been able to share with folks that the scars and damage leading to them don't have to be a defining moment ....but can always be a refining moment. Paul knew that we could have all the tools and if we didn't have love (God IS LOVE) that it is in vain. (Not vein) haha. God knows the agenda and whether the tattoos would be something that honors HIM or not. I would say that if we are His ambassadors and representatives of Him it should be in a way that goes beyond what we look like. I'm not saying that every "true" Christian needs to turn their skin into a moving Bible canvas... I do believe that there are times that God would be pleased with how we honor Him. And that we are the ones that sometimes get offended....reminds me of the scene when King David came back after a victory and was dancing in clothes (or a lack of ....) And his wife Michel was frustrated over the matter. I know this is old testament and not new....but the same unchanging God is sovereign over an ever changing culture of people that still want to be in charge of people and sometimes using God to get "their way" and not being in HIS Way....this may have been a much longer response than ultimately necessary. God bless ya'!

My brother, through David's videos I just found out about Islamized me(WHAT A GREAT JOB!!!) and I got to know you and Gio. Next video I just encounter is this one about the tattoos and this is what I need to say about it with much love and respect. What is being a Christian? I will say that be part of the world is not being a Christian but the opposite, we should set and example that is not of this wold and I find no better than Christ and the apostles and non of them have any kind of tattoos, not counting they did not have time or resources or REASON for it. So remember every action, word, though will be held accountable at the end before the one we serve and TO WHOM MUCH WAS GIVEN MUCH WILL BE ASK, people are looking at YOU for and example so their desitions on this mater (TATTOOS) will be in part in your back on the DAY OF THE LORD. Look at the reasons why tattoos exist. Intimidation, Idolatry, Shame markation, Gangs group identification, Satanism, Cult to other than God because God does not accept imagery of Him, slavery and so on........ and maybe at the end of an extensive list of non Christian reasons them and only them we found the less dangerous one and jet another terrible sin which is VANITY FOR THIS WORLD. I am going to ask you a question in the love of Christ. What is the reason behind yours? Please be not offended as my main purpose with this is to be part of an everyday better Christian work of God in you. Remember we, the ones of Christ, do not go by any Leviticus or any other law than the love of Christ, we are of the SPIRIT AND NOT OF THE WORLD like tattoos are. Not counting that a lot of Godly brothers are stumbling with this aspect of live here among the people of the flesh so take PAUL OF TARSUS in to prospective in this one too. Hope I will have your answer soon. It is not morally demanded but I would like to have it. God bless you brother and may our Lord Jesus Christ continue blessing you and your family.

Hey brother, thanks for the compliments and kind words! I guess the reasons you give are based on the assumption that tattoos are sinful or of the world, which I don’t believe is true. Some satantist may get them to worship Satan but mine give glory to God. It’s like anything else. A satanist May pray to Satan before a meal, but if I pray to God, it’s not sinful for me to eat a meal. If they are sinful they will have to be in and of themselves. For example, one of mine has faith with a pair of eyes; when people ask me about if, I tell them how biblical faith is not blind and is based on facts. And also, it may help to define what you mean by worldly. Not saying you are doing this, but we have to be careful not to assume things are wrong because we don’t like them or feel like they are (we all do this at times). This was the case of several in the past when it came to wearing blue jeans, having Christian rappers and rock bands, going to movie theaters, etc. Hope that helps some! Bless you, brother!

i have just been thinking about where Paul says in Romans 14:4 who are you to judge someone else's servant this principal is true with every believer I personally believe from my own walk with the Lord he will let others do with a clear conscience what he won't let another do with a clear conscience so yes biblically we are allowed to get tattoos BUT if you cant get a tattoo with a clear conscience or i could say, still having the peace of God then I would strongly recommend not getting one as i believe it would be a sin to you then I am getting this from the principal the bible puts across with food sacrificed unto idols. 1 Corinthians 8 and 10

David at first said something really important. God give them these laws cause He required that his people have to be different to all the people around them, how are we being different? In old times the lines are so clear that such a thing are even unthinkable, now, theres no lines anymore, everything goes and we have scripture to prove it. That, to me, don’t honor the word if God, we don’t live in the same context, but we have to live by the same principles, and that doesn’t mean that I can judge and condemn someone if they have tatoos . If we live by the Spirit, then we have to walk by the Spirit.

I would recommend the book Old Testament Law for Christians by Dr. Roy Gane. He goes into a lot more detail than these guys did (or even could for the amount of time given). He actually gives guidelines on how to apply these OT Laws and their underlying principles for today. It's a lot more nuanced than how any of these guys discussed it (though that's understandable since none of them are OT scholars). I believe it's a must read for all Christians.
