Fantastic. The early 70's were the halcyon days of racing for me. The hurdlers you showcased and the jumpers, Pendil, Tingle Creek, L'escargot to name a couple. Brigadier Gerard, Mill Reef, Nijinsky, Roberto to name a few on the flat. Loved every minute of it.

Some wonderful memories , always appreciate these uploads thank you , hard to pick a favourite isn't it, too many greats, but I have to say, constitution hill is the best I have seen in my lifetime , just the speed he takes a hurdle is breathtaking

That win in the Aintree Hurdle when he floored his full brother is one of my all time favourites. At that point, I'd just about given up on him. What a ride by Bradley.

I watched many of these great races 'in the flesh' (I still refer to it as 'the Bula' & I will probably insist on replacing 'Trials Day' with 'Bula Day'. Anyway, this afternoon I had a look at some of the racecards from previous renewals of the race. From 2006 - 2008, the Bula was worth £114, 040 to the winner. In 2009 and 2010 winning connections received £85,515. How much do you think Michael Buckley will pocket on Saturday? £71,118! And, people wonder why so few decent middle distance horses on the flat are sent hurdling.

@@HorseRacingLegends Nigel Twiston Davies complained back in 2010(ish) that the Jockey Club was using revenue from jumps racing (Cheltenham in particular) to subsidise Newmarket & Epsom. Around that time, the crowd at Cheltenham's October meeting was double that of Newmarket on the same weekend (I'm sure it was the 2-day Ceserawitch). Perhaps Grd1s over jumps should have a minimum prize of £100,000 , & Grd2s £80,000 ? Anything less & they become Grd3 Handicaps?

@leecash9767 Yes I’m sure NTD was right in what he said.Big Mac always had some good ideas before He was brutally sacked by CH4 Racing.
