Everyone back there at that light is calling you a dick because they think you just turned the lights on to go through it" he said "well now you know" lol

ƓαƖαxу Lιση No offense my friend, but that is one of the worst things to ask Cops, or even Fireman for that matter. The public doesn't really understand what these guys go through unless they have done it themselves. The officer has probably seen some terrible stuff in his career, and asking him only brings all of those awful memories back. I don't mean to lash out at you and I'm sure you mean well. It's probably just not a good question to ask.

Snakedog49 Look for numerous lights on a car that pulled you over, most undercover cop cars are required to have multiple lights on the fender, multiple lights in the front windshield, multiple in the back windshield, multiple on the rear bumper. If a car pulls you over and it has a couple wimpy red and blue lights and that's it, it's a fake cop.

10 codes seem to be becoming a thing of the past. I know in my area almost all of the departments have switched from 10 codes to common language. And the main reason for it is more inter-agency cooperation. Case in point was a man who shot himself at a local mall. The gunshot(s) drew a huge response from all of the surrounding towns and agencies. If some departments are using 10 codes, and others aren't, then there is room for confusion and lack of clear communication. I know my town, and what seems like most of the surrounding towns, no longer use them, except for the basic, basic ones.....like 10-4, 10-90, 10-88, but even those vary from department to department

I'm a new subscriber and I have a question about something that happened today. I was doing about 52 mph in a 40 and I passed a cop that was parked on the other side of the road. He instantly started driving and did a U-turn to start following me. The thing is,he never turned his lights on,and when I did notice him I instantly slowed down and merged into the the right lane. I'm curious about what would've deterred him from chasing me. My dad seems to think the cop was able to run my plate number within the 45 seconds he was behind another car and me,and that he realized there were no warrants or tickets on my plate number,so he decided it maybe wasn't worth it. Is it possible to even check a plate number that fast? I'm just really curious about what threw him off enough to not care. Thanks in advance.

They have a laptop right beside them pretty much all the time. If he was there to do traffic stops, he likely had it already set to just enter the registration number, so he just had to key in your plates and was done.
@noahstefan94277 жыл бұрын
Zack Fraser my guess is that he saw you and like most people who see cops get behind them, they slow down and start obeying the law to a fault, so he knew that just basically making his presence known would show you that you did something wrong and that you would quickly change your behavior, (like you did) whenever I get pulled over, I notice a good couple of weeks of near perfect driving from myself. I may be wrong, maybe he had more important things to do than pull you over. All the same, you should be happy you did not get pulled over. (It is not fun)

What I hear most is " They used their lights and siren jut to get through an intersection" when in fact, I was just canceled from the call by dispatch. what are your thoughts regarding felons rights?
@wyomoto13494 жыл бұрын
Nothing makes you look dumber than fighting through traffic in a major metro area forcing lots of people into other lanes or off the road and then right before you get to another light dispatch has more info and downgrades you from Code 3. Then slowly all of those drivers catch up to you not understanding anything that just happened 🤣

@Misteriosi81 I was speaking from personal experience. Not making fun of anyone. Most first responders have been there a time or two and relate to the humor.

How does the thumbnail make sense? If the traffic is stopped, the cross traffic has a green light .. like the cop car in the thumbnail. Please tell me what I'm missing Haha
@officer4017 жыл бұрын
You're missing the green arrow. :P

Gdude Jinster I'm confused please elaborate
@solopine96247 жыл бұрын
Death Overlord For the thumbnail of this video, I only saw the red light, and thought that the cop should have a green light, therefore putting him in no wrong. I missed the left turn arrow, which would mean that the cop would be facing a red light.

Why is a fight not worth a code 3 Response? Wtf
@danielnortham7003Ай бұрын
Yeah that’s a weird department policy. The two agencies I was with in California 415 verbals were code 2 and 415 physicals would be code 3. I also have had situations where officer calls out officer needs help and then a few seconds later will give a code 4. When that happens I would usually turn my code 3 lights down to code 2 amber lights for a bit just so public didn’t think I was just rrying to get through intersection

How can anyone drive with their left hand almost on the right side of their steering wheel?
@bulldozer50717 жыл бұрын
HunterXray if it pulls to the left resting your hand on the right side of the wheel uses less muscle to keep it straight....or he could just do that so people ask questions...lol
@HunterXray7 жыл бұрын
Bull Dozer If it pulls to the left, on a straight and flat road with no wind pushing the car, it needs an alignment at least.
@ABaumstumpf7 жыл бұрын
Gravity is pulling the hand down, and as his hand is on the right side, it would try to turn the wheel to the right. But as it is his left hand, it also gets pulled to the left. Now if you drive a lot you can easily notice the spot where those 2 things cancel each other out - so you can rest your hand there and it does not strain your hands a much as holding the wheel at other positions.
@HunterXray7 жыл бұрын
ABaumstumpf I would never be able to drive with my left hand in that position. Mainly because I drive a manual. So my left hand is always at around 9 o'clock and my right hand is usually covering the stick or at the 3 o'clock position.I drive about 60,000 miles a year.

Related question: If I'm sitting at an intersection in the middle of the night (or a slow traffic day) for 5 minutes, and the light's not changing, or it's already cycled past me once or twice, can I just go?
@smittywerbenjaegermanjense73766 жыл бұрын
Short answer, no. Long answer, don't let a cop see it. Or turn right.
@rednecknation15925 жыл бұрын
I would not recommend it because some red lights have a camera
@daltonwatson20585 жыл бұрын
In Washington state, you're allowed to go on a red if the light is both abandoned and has cycled twice without signalling you to go.

Yep, this one was timed around that long.

officer401 I worked in traffic systems and the longest time I am aware of in peak traffic times is 2:15. That is a big difference. In non-peak times, lights are set to no longer than 20 seconds.

why would a cop get bored sat a red light? They're working a 12 hr shift...what difference would a few seconds at a light make....either way they're getting paid. They literally drive around with no particular destination. Why would they want to get to nowhere quicker....

officer401 Thanks for putting out excellent info about why cops do what they do, and how most people don't understand what cops do, what they go through, procedures, etc. unless they've had the chance to step into their shoes. I completed the Anchorage PD Citizen's Academy (a very condensed version of the academy) in 2013 & I and the class learned a LOT about the nuances of police work. I also got to go on several full shift ride-alongs, doing everything from DV calls (so dangerous) to sweeping a house for a drunk serious accident military fugitive alongside JBER MPs, and traffic stops. Once you've been around officers like that it's very easy to now recognize that cops are normal and human just like anyone else. And after causing a minor collision myself last year (don't drive overly tired!!), I got a ticket, wasn't happy about it but I didn't blame the officer as he's doing his job, and it was my responsilbility to be safe while driving. Thanks for all you do officer401 and I really enjoy your videos!
