A wise man once called it "cheap holidays in other people's misery." All I saw here was an authoritarian shaming someone with a phobia into another traumatic situation; this time with big scoop of public schadenfreude and self-righteous, authoritarian presumption that this is somehow helping the victim because "desensitization" or something. Hahaha, "those people" are scared of dogs, amirite? How tone deaf can you be? The bullies that made this shitty video didn't explain dog body language to their victim before dumping a pile of dogs on her because the only thing they cared about was making a paycheck on basic cable at someone else's expense. A dog person would never pull some bullshit like this on someone who was scared of dogs.

Its shock therapy. People who have phobias won't overcome them unless they're faced with it, forcibly if needed because the mind takes control. You can tell yourself that when you see a dog, you won't cross the street, but by the time you've convinced yourself, you're already across the street. The phobia takes over mind and body.

As a child and Teen I was extremely fearful of Dogs and today I am a Professional Dog Trainer. I over came my fear over many years. The biggest tip I can give anyone is to learn dog behaviour and there language. Once you understand dogs and what there saying it makes it much easier to be near them or to “ultimuttly” get past the fear. I am living proof. A stray dog was the first dog to earn my trust. I ran away after a short time. Years later when I was 12 yrs old a family dog helped a lot with my fear. The next step was my own dog at the age of 32 and then a big thanks to Cesar Milan. His show “The Dog Whisperer” got me from dog owner to Dog enthusiast. Robin MacFarlane in Iowa got me from Dog Enthusiast to Dog Trainer. I had the fear and so I really get it. I couldn’t agree more. I don’t think I will ever be able to like them. I don’t know why Americans especially white Americans are so obsessed with dogs like it’s a toy or some kind of fashion to have n own a dog. I had bad experiences with dogs. I wish people quit saying oh he is friendly, sweet, good dog, never attacked or not they are still wild animals who are very vicious and can attack at any time unprovoked. They have teeth and I consider them weapons. Some dogs even end up turning on their own owners and family members who have raised them since puppyhood who were loving to them. So at the end of the day it doesn’t matter how much they have been trained and how well behaved they have been before they can still attack one day eventually even if they have never done it before.

My fear keeped me from this article. I already feeling sick just with picture and word . I tryed living with ( over 1year and several more months) a person with a ***. When they went to work i went outside leaving animals inside so i could do my work without barking, snapping at every move i made. When i finish with outside work i went outside leaving animals outside. When others came home it took hrs before they wanted to know where animals are. Before letting in( a neighbor was letting it stay with him in home sometime ). I was a mess ,shaking, hear falling out ,gained weight, nightmare, and daymares. I got a job were a few workers would help keep away,i did snakes, spiders, burds and others they did it. Some think all in my head, one day one entered the front door and head my direction, one ladie said my coloring left ,my skin colder than ice, shaking, said for me to go before they got here. Went to move was not able ,even with they trying to help( frozen) she went asked to bring animals around to other people on security. Far from me. Years of try,not doing. I dont watch tv,turn off commercial, magazine if i see pic won't touch any more . I stay in my home ,and go to car ,appointment, always nervous at stores, now more so because all the fake service animals and comfort (pets, who they kidding) animals. Additionally having to clean car and groceries because feces on from shopping cart and convarer belt, because animals in carts.every item now can make me ill. Neighbor letting them use my yard, doorway, porch,as bathroom. And leaving. Adults think amusements to try to get their animals to chase or antagonize. Stupid remarks, it wont hurt you, only give kisses( i don't need after liked your butt) . If i go somewhere, there is any i go somewhere else. If i am already there, i have to leave, even those who are aware,. So easy to stay in my home and stress when i sitting here ,barking all around i realize ther2are people who are in need of them to function, but if you can go out hours ,days even on vacation to Puerto Rican or cruise for week .do you really think your doing justice for they people who have a real need. The last time I watched this, I had an extreme fear of dogs like the woman in this video. Now guess what - I'm an owner of a dog myself (and love him more than myself) and I volunteer at a dog shelter!! Just wanted to say that haha

okay but I feel like getting over a fear of dogs isn't like a one and done, now you're good with all dogs. I was terrified of them as a child and now I have learned to tolerate them. dogs that jump and bite still freak me out but dogs that are chill I am completely fine with. it all depends on the dog.

I actually don’t have a fear of dogs, i actually have a dog, but i have a similar “phobia”. Now, the first time I noticed it was when I was watching a movie and saw a dog get shot. It did bother me a little, but when I saw another dog get shot and start to cry, I Had to put my head down on the ground and plug my ears. I can’t handle an animal get hurt and/or get abused And die.

i am extremely scared of dog, but my sister craving for a dog and my mom bought her one, i thought i will be adaptating with that condition, but i am not. for those who saw ppl like me IT IS NOT FUNNY to tease me with dogs by putting it near me. IT IS NOT FUNNY FOR ME and its not always FINE THING.

This is not the way to do it. And the way he talks about her is like showing off an animal doing a trick.

It’s not emabarrasing. You are not alone in your fears of dogs. Remember they are wild animals and can chase , attack and bite easily even when not provoked , even when they have so called been very well trained and have never attacked and bite anyone before. It only take a second. A dog to me can kill. They are like weapons to me . Some dogs have mauled and killed their owners and or family members that they were raised with since they were a few weeks old as a puppy. It’s ok. Most of the time I don’t even prefer to walk by when there is more than one dogs. One dog on a leash and being held well(some times I kindly and politely tell the owners to hold them well that I am scared of dogs and I have been chased before) and most of them are understanding. I don’t know why my husband knowing very well that I am scared of dogs will choose to move to a dog friendly apartment in Denver when he had to go settle there and start his job before we (me and the kids) join him in. Colorado. I heard almost everyone in Colorado have a dog . I told him to move to another place because every morning 5 days a week it will be just me and the two kids under 3 while he is already at work and I have to pick them up to and there are so many dogs at the apartment where we live and the one across and counted. And some people are irresponsible and don’t have their dogs on a leash and hold them sometimes. Some families too allow their small children as young as 8 years old to walk dogs who can easily drag them out or dogs can escape out of their leash .

I have extreme phobia to cats and my dog phobia has gotten much better over the years if see a small dog I stay away a little because I don’t know how they behave if they come to sing me or whatever. I had victory like her I put puppy on my lap with exposed skin with is one of my biggest phobias I do not like animals to touch my skin. I do like dogs but I can’t come close to big dogs.
