I have a set of Artillian forks but for a lot of yard cleanup, storm cleanup and tree trimming chores I find the Edge Tamers with Edge Extenders to be more useful. With the Edge Extenders it allows me to rake up all the small debris and put it in the bucket while laying the larger limbs and branches across the Edge Extenders. I then take it all to the burn pile in one trip. This is something you can not do with forks alone.

Yes, forks have ‘holes’ in them which don’t do so well with small branches! :-)

You should be a teacher Tim. You explain things very well, it reminds me of my favorite teachers in school. Big difference between someone who tells people how do something and people who teach. Your videos with reviews of trailers, tractors and attachments are very good and every time you teach someone how to run your equipment i'm amazed at how fast they catch onto it. You just have that teaching skill.

Ordered three 4" edge tamers yesterday. All 3 sizes are backordered 3 weeks. Must be a lot of people watching TTWT. Mine should get here just in time for Christmas! Seems like besides not ripping up the grass, you could end up filling low spots in the lawn as a side benefit ;)

I have my edge tamers already, I cleaned a fairly large pile of mulch right off my gravel driveway earlier this year without issue, very little gravel got mixed in which made me happy and what was left over was hardly anything to rake up and remove completely from the drive. Quickest so far I have been able to get the mulch spread around our property and almost no cleanup hassle. So far very happy with them and would certainly recommend! Can't wait to play in the snow now as they came a bit late for last winter season due to the high demand.

My Edge Tamers arrived a week ago and put them to use immediately. I really like the results. I put a lot of stones in the grass already this year using my snow plow. I think I will save my plow for deeper snows and use the edge tamer for the smaller snow falls. I wish I would have watched one of your edge tamer videos sooner. Never heard of edge tamers. Those are awesome! Made a first timer look like a pro, I agree, that was not an easy task. For snow though, I had a buddy weld brackets onto a grader blade and I have a three-point adapter plate that mounts on the front end loader. With that rig I can angle the blade and push snow while driving forward without packing it down. Great video!

Another nice video Tim. So, you have now sold me on the Edge Tamers for summer use, but do you have a trick for keeping the snow from sticking to the inside of the bucket? I have found that the loader bucket is the least efficient way to clear snow because it always sticks to the inside of the bucket here in the interior northwest.
@TractorTimewithTim
@TractorTimewithTim 4 жыл бұрын
One tip...make sure you allow the bucket to get cold before you fill it with snow. It won’t stick as much if the bucket is the same temp as outdoor temp. But yea, the bucket is not the best snow removal option available.
@justinwright6611

although you did specify edge tamers for plowing a gravel driveway i would definitely not use them on an asphalt one. I use the loader bucket to plow a 24 car asphalt condominium parking lot and sidewalks and a great feature of not only the float position on the loader arm is the ability to tilt the bucket downward a bit to get the best "bite" you can. Its fantastic for not only getting almost all the snow off but also hard to take up ice as well. Also the ability to tilt the bucket edge downward to pull snow back from up close to the buildings and garages. This does what no truck service ever could for us in terms of manuverability and cleaning up after a storm. The loader + bucket also lets you get the snow piles much higher which is a big issue as well for us given space limitations and just getting so much snow in New England. It does take longer than a snow pusher would but i think its well worth the extra time. At least this is what all my reisidents tell me who say that since we started with this tractor and loader bucket last season they've never been happier ! :)

Thinking about ordering a pair for my 1025R for plowing snow and gravel. The other issue I think they will solve is plowing my sidewalks up and down the block. Have been doing it with my 4 wheeler and blade up to this point. The sidewalk slabs are not always flush with each other and stick up in places causing the bucket to catch and putting tremendous shock loads to the tractor and trying to eject the operator(me). Seems to me if there was a way to angle the blade, you could move the dirt or the snow much quicker. You should build something like a snowplow blade for it, Something that fits right on the regular bucket. You know people in the business, they could help you out. Every job I've been on has forks for the bucket that make it into a forklift. Those aren't hard to make if you can cut and weld steel at all. in fact that little Johnny would make a great little fork lift.

I have been watching your videos and am learning quite a lot. I also notice that is it seems like most commenters are men. I have a 1023e. I had never thought of becoming a tractor owner. When I went to purchase a lawn mower that did a little more than mow the lawn, the guy told me I would save money if I purchased the tractor. I have-not yet tried the bucket because I do not have any weights, which the man forgot to tell me I should have. I have watched your heavy hitch video and am trying to figure out which would be better, the hitch or the imatch to hook up other things also.? Do you have any suggestions as to how I can really learn what I need to beyond watching videos. I have mowed my yard a few times and am feeling pretty comfortable using it. I wish there was a class.

Lorraine, thanks for your comment. The IMatch mounts between the heavy hitch and the 3 point hitch arms. The Heavy Hitch will then attach to the IMatch. So, I would recommend getting both. You’ll also need weights for your Heavy Hitch (to make it Heavy :-) ) HeavyHitch.com has the weights as well as the heavy hitch.

thank you very much. :) I am going to assume it is better to get the heavy hitch than the ballast box? I did watch that video. I also enjoy seeing your wife and daughter helping and driving. @@TractorTimewithTim

Do they make a sod cutting tool you can easily put on the tractor or mini ex? Then you can save the grass.

James Bristol - Actually, as soon as you pick the bucket up off the ground a tad it is no longer in float. :-) It **IS** possible to do what Tim is doing without Edge Extenders but you will peel up huge sections of turf 90% of the time. Been there, done that, had to plant more grass. :-)

I have a set for my Kubota. They do work well, making it almost impossible to gouge into the surface. However, I've found I get nearly the same results making sure the bucket is level, then letting it float. I don't push a lot of snow with the bucket, I prefer the rear blade. You can make similar tamers for the rear blade by simply cutting PVC pipe lengthwise on a table saw, then fit the blade into the cut. Depending on your setup, you'd need to experiment with the best size PVC pipe, but the smaller diameter PVC and thinner the cut the tighter it grips the blade. It picks up no rocks. Here's an image of what it should look like. goo.gl/images/voVmm5
