Yes, I got worse!. I had an hyaluronic injection on my left knee at a very prestigious orthopedic clinic about 2 years ago. The doctor's assistant (I'm not sure if he was an MD) did the injection and the entire duration of the injection was excruciatingly painful. (I am pretty stoic, so didn't scream!). Post injection my pain was worse than before the injection and persisted for weeks. My gut instinct tells me that the injection was improperly inserted, but of course my doctor would never admit that. I would be glad to speak to you about this if you like.

@@mkultra11 It's been a journey. The pain subsided after several weeks; then a back issue and severe sciatica had me miserable for 6 weeks; Much improved after PT then, feeling my oats I took on a major garden overhaul for 4 weeks this spring while ignoring complaints from my knee. Rest and PT has me back to a comfortable zone. Live and learn, they say.

I had this done in both knees almost 3 weeks ago. It took about 3 days to feel pain relief, and I'm currently experiencing stiffness in my knees for the couple of steps after sitting or getting out of bed. I've also been walking with my feet turned out (like 1st position in ballet) and I can immediately feel my glutes engage and pain free walking. Plus no copays for shots every 6 months.

I am 65 on a Medicare PPO advantage plan. My insurance Did approve this medication. I did have a hefty co-pay which goes off of part B since injected. However I had both knees injected for 3 weeks. My pain dropped from 8-10 to almost no pain. It is wonderful to sleep through the nights now. I hope they develop a same similar for the hips. For myself it was so much above the cortisone shot. I hope others out there watching do the research in both : insurance costs and a proper medical procedure doctor. I purchased a gentle rebounder and I am currently in PT 3x weekly. This is a game changer for me as far as wanting to avoid surgeries as long as possible. Hopefully the rest of my life. Thank you for your videos!

I did several series of hyaluronic acid injections about a decade ago when my knees were so painful. They helped immensely. I found relatively quick relief and they lasted about 9 months. Unfortunately, my insurance company decided to stop paying and I could no longer afford them. But I have not had cortisone or surgery so, even though I can have painful times, I'm trying to manage with exercise as long as I can.

I have OA in both knees and a small meniscus tear in left knee which was causing a lot of pain. I just finished a set of 3 gel injections a month ago, then rolled into a month of PT sessions- which made my knee way worse! After watching a few of your videos I now understand they were over focusing on the quads, and had me doing too many resistance band exercises which were clearly causing more knee inflammation. My chiropractor is helping me get back on track with glute strengthening exercises(similar to yours). At this point I can't truly evaluate the results of the shots due to the 'bad PTO' which clearly set me back. I'm only 56 and feeling discouraged having this level of pain and loss of mobility so suddenly.(there is some family history) Really hoping to feel some positive results after adjusting exercises, etc..

Thank god I live in Europe where the prices are controlled by our government. I had these injections in one of my knees done years ago and to this day I have no problems in that knee. Unfortunately, my other knee has become so painful when walking or standing that I’m ready to see my doc about getting them in the other knee. I don’t recall but I think I went in to get an injection every week or every couple weeks, totaling three visits but can’t really remember as it was 20 or so years ago. I hope it will relieve the pain as I’m not that keen on knee replacement, which the doctors over here push! I’m 72, normal weight and walk my dogs twice a day for a total of an hour to an hour and a half. Other than my knee pain, I am in great health. Thank you for your channel. It is a wealth of logical information. Happy Thanksgiving to you & your family.

Recently took the treatment n it seems to have helped with the excruciating pain n limited range of motion. It was a gradual reduction in pain. Still have some pain depending on the activity I'm performing @ the time. Initially had pain from the injection n subsequent swelling but through time it has improved. To improve more physical activities n stretching that affected area although will experience noticeable pain at first. Kudos for vid for clarifying the treatment. I have had these administered in both Knees since end of 2013. I had right knee Torn mensiscus surgery in 1996. Damaged by doing Weighted Squats. The Ortho Doc at that time said I had OA in the knee already before the surgery. In 2013, I tore the left Knee Meniscus which was operated on to remove the tear. Soon after that, the same Ortho doctor who did the left knee surgery recommended The gel shots for my right knee (the surgeon that did the right knee had moved on). It helped my right knee soon after the 3rd Injection. The Injections (Synvisc or Euflexxa) are done in a series of 3 injections, one week apart. Can take about a Month to feel any relief. Since 2014, I have had those Gel Shots at least 6 or 7 times. Each time, though , the lasting periods are shorter!!. I'm 72, male, slightly overweight at 220 lbs at 5'10". The Right Knee over the years is now Bone on Bone. The left Knee less so but OA is there and in my left Hip too. I fractured my right Femur n 1966, Playing HS Football. The right leg is just over 1" short as a result. It was left unadressed by the ortho dr in 1966. That Trauma has wreaked havoc with my spine / hips / Si Joints. Eventually in early 2000s I finally had my shoes adjusted for the leg length discrepancy.....it was actually too late. Spinal Arthritis, facet joints loaded with OA and Dextroscoliosis at 25 degrees is causing Chronic pain and terrible siffness. I try anything to help w/o Meds. These Injections work (albeit to a lesser extent now) for me. Wish they had something for the Hips. They don't Work in the Hips unfortunately per my Pain Management doctor. I would recommend for hose with OA n theri knees, to proceed and get these Gel Shots. PS: Been on medicare since 2020 - medicare Does Approve these shots. My Current Ortho Doc said that if they work , kep on doing them...Medicare allows 2 X a Year. My PCP, says no , replace the Rigjht knee while you can stand the long term recovery ??

My right knee was damaged while I was performing heavy work (textbooks) at a high school back in 1995. I had physical therapy, cortisone, ultra sound, 2 surgeries, electrode therapy...you name it...I tried it all to no avail. My doctor suggested Hyaluronic injections (Hylagan) to which I replied...”Why not! It couldn’t hurt!” The pain in my knee was so bad, I was willing to try anything. The needle for the shots was SO long, and had to be injected deep in my knee. It was SO painful...I had to stay perfectly still. I literally grabbed a pillow and bit on it so I wouldn’t scream. I’m no baby to pain. (In 1982 I woke up on the operating table as they were removing my gallbladder.) Once a week X 6 weeks was how often I had to go. Thankfully this was all covered by worker’s compensation as the shots were $700.00 a shot! Unfortunately these painful shots did nothing to help with the pain in my knee. I finally had a complete knee replacement (Stryker robotic, Cobalt chrome, Titanium) This operation was also VERY painful, but was the only thing that helped my knee. Knowing what I know now...would I have hyaluronic shots again...probably. It didn’t work for me. But I would say...give it a try! It may help you. 🌞

I have several synvisc one injections and I think they help for 4-6 months if your arthritis isn’t severe.They have gotten VERY expensive. As my arthritis got worse they didn’t help any more and had to get TKR. They were more effective than steroid shots imo.

Hey there, thank you for sharing your personal experience. These injections can absolutely get pricey! And unfortunately, many people end up getting the total knee replacement (TKR) after these shots. These shots can be very helpful if used in conjunction with the correct exercises. We have a great playlist of exercises available for this if you are interested in learning more. These can be beneficial even after a TKR. I wanted to get them but unfortunately Blue Shield would not cover them. I will have to pay out of pocket if I decide to get them. Have to have a shot in each knee once a week for three weeks. That will be $2,700.00. If I could be guaranteed they would help and last me a year I’d do it.

Ive been getting these injections for years. They started off working great but now after 6-7 years its hit and miss. They are just part of pain management but maintaining healthy weight, walking regularly and staying away from gluten helps me. I have definitely had an imbalance in muscles from bicycling and skiing. Im going try and build my glutes. Cortisone does not work as a long term solution.

Never heard of this product within Canada. Seen 5 nero surgeons for back and osteoarthritis. I wrote on another post my full condition. I can see this would help as I'm bone on bone . I'm allergic to all steroid or antinflamtory drugs . Talking about cortisone steroids...When I was very young...One family Dr frigged up my feet as injected steroids every week for 6 months and knee caps daily for a week. Swollen like crazy and red . . I couldn't walk and couldn't wear shoes at all as very swollen and red . Next appointment she apologized ... she admitted she was doing it all wrong and its only one injection every 6 to 8 months . So she frigged up all the tissue and ligaments on both feet and knees. Here in Canada Drs are protected and you cannot sue for harm like USA .

Hello, thank you for your informative videos. I’m a suffer of rheumatoid arthritis and after learning that I have torn the medial meniscus in my right knee, we also discovered that I’m bone to bone on the inside of the knee joint. The orthopedic doctor wants me to do a partial knee replacement, but as is my nature, I always try to seek out solutions that are alternative to surgery. What are your thoughts on PRP for the knee joint?
@epmanualphysicaltherapy
@epmanualphysicaltherapy 11 ай бұрын
Hey Maggie, great question! With PRP it is difficult to say whether or not it helps. Many people do find relief with it, but many people do not. What we support most of all is addressing the root muscle imbalances that have caused this damage to begin with. We have some great content explaining this further and providing exercises that can be performed to help mitigate these issues. If you are interested, here is a link to a playlist of our videos for knee arthritis: “Knee Arthritis Pain Help” kzbin.info/aero/PLJVIPiFvv1maa9YF-WmKLF7oI4VoczH8i We also have an outstanding, in-depth knee arthritis recovery program available that is designed to help people just like you avoid surgeries. In case you are interested in something more structured such as this program, here is a link with more information: The Knee Arthritis Recovery Program is designed to help people have the best chance of avoiding unnecessary surgery, injections, or having to rely on pain medications. This course guides people through exercises and stretches that target key body parts that have the greatest potential to prevent or help with knee conditions like osteoarthritis, meniscus tears, ligament injuries, cartilage problems and other knee conditions.
