"Unoccupied buildings" means there are empty houses already in the city, and you just need people to move into them. Demand will go back up after the empty buildings are filled. (Demand seems to show how much construction is needed, not how willing people are to move in, although the latter affects the former.)

Mild chuckling as the pop suddenly dives after removing all on-street parking on the coast road... Have to say that just flattening everything in sight probably not in keeping with the whole "respect the topography" thing but entertaining nonetheless. And well done on a pretty good population mark. (Deleting houses at the end for roads notwithstanding! ;o)

If I have two roundabouts too close to one another, I merge them and make an oval-a-bout. The connector road between them just becomes more space on the ovalabout for the traffic to continue flowing. Maybe try something like that in a future challenge or even in your own city as a fix perhaps?

I notice that when playing the game people get tunnel vision. We are so intent on doing things, we miss glaring signs that somethings not right. As with when you put down the first zoning and there were two blocks completely unzoned, yet you continued to zone around them. Unless you left them intentionally for the parks you put in them after. Maybe you should call your town Panicville.

I'd suggest against lowering and raising taxes for everything esp when trying to min-max. So raise low density taxes to 14-15% when you unlock med and set it to 1-5%, do the same when you unlock high density. No point going for 0 or neg taxes for residental ppl can only move in so fast and you'd be less likely to go under in the meantime.
