Using starters even first forms really isn't hard enough to justify making it a challenge because their base stats are higher than most other un-evolved pokemon. That's why he doesn't do it. The only time it could be challenging enough would be for Johto; simply because of the red fight pushes levels high enough to make it really matter again.

Well, new strategy for run requesting. I finished up my own Buizel-only run, so here's a few tips. -Natural Gift is surprisingly useful, I needed it for Candice's Snowbama (Cheri Berry/Occa Berry) and Cyrus's Gyarados (Wepear Berry, you find them at Fuego Ironworks) -For Cynthia, your biggest problems are Spiritomb, Togekiss, and Milotic. You'll have to RNG a victory from one of them, but I suggest trying to flinch Spiritomb with Waterfall, holding a Wacan Berry for Togekiss (you'll be at full health if you flinched Spiritomb and it'll go for Shock Wave) and just brute forcing Milotic with Dig. -A physical set of Waterfall, Dig, Ice Punch and Brick Break is your best bet. If you want Return, replace Brick Break. -Look out for rival battles, Gardenia, Fantina and Wake. They're the only ones where you need to brute force your way through. The rest are beatable with strategy, RNG or coverage. The rival battle before Wake is trivial if you get Ice Punch but the rest are fairly difficult.

Hope you don't mind if I borrow your strategy for pitching Remoraid-only. Most of Fire Red has been doable, and even the expected roadblocks like Lt. Surge and Erika were one-shot sweeps. Misty's Starmie was the actual roadblock, the Nugget Bridge rival and Rival Fival were luck based, and I'm in the process of grinding for the pre-Victory-Road rival.

I enjoy these creative runs soo much more than the single pokemon ones. The 4th gen makes it more interesting too! Please do more :) One idea would be to be able to use all 6 of your pokemon, but make sure you are 5 levels down from each major battle, e.g. rival fights, gyms and the elite four. It would require some nice strategies to pull off. Keep up the good content!

The best one to do it with is probably Emerald with Mudkip. It can learn all of the necessary HMs required to progress, thus, you literally never have to catch another pokemon ever.

We all love using an Infernape, Luxray, Staraptor, Lucario, Garchomp and Giarintina in our Platinum playthroughs… But I propose we should try something a little different! Use one of the other starters, Gliscor, Roserade/Floatzel (depending on your starter), Mismagius, Togekiss, and maybe Snowbama/Obamasnow! Spice Sinnoh up a little 😉

IMO those multi-Pokémon challenges are more interesting than the single-Pokémon ones: you develop a symbiotic strategy instead of just farming levels to brute-force your way through.
