The text glitch doesn't exactly use the second type, it's even funnier: the game program has a list of every type matchup that doesn't do neutral damage, and goes through one by one whenever an attack is used. Is it a water move against a fire type? If yes, multiply damage by 2 and change the text to "It's super effective". Is it a fire move against a grass type? if yes-- you get the idea. The game goes through that entire list of type matchups and keeps the text of the last one that applies

The bug thing is fun, since it also has one of the only attacks that isn't poison type that can inflict poison. So it was a way to poison steel types in gen 2.

#MDBA Challenge idea: Can you Beat Oblivion, Poison only run? The rules are pretty simple: - you can only use Poison as a means of dealing damage - when using alchemy, you can only make poison of course, you can add rules as you see fit As usually, I'm writing this before you ever did the challenge let me know in the comments if MDBA decides to do it at any point. you got me thinking with that gym leader AI ranking, and i gotta say that the top 3 most dumb is definetly Blaine, Giovanni and then possibly LT. Surge, in that order. Using thundershock instead of thunderbolt is kinda silly but at least Surge is still TRYING to attack you, instead of spamming dire hits. I don't know how the other ones would stack up since you usually end up sweeping them, but i gotta say that if brock didnt have bide, he would definetly be one of the most intelligent.

I actually wonder if the rival having Bulbasaur is actually the easiest choice against Tentacool, since Grass is Neutral against it and the other options have Exeggutor. I have no idea if Exeggutor would be the harder choice against Tentacool, but that was just a thought I had.

@@ElGarri-cr2ic Not Giga Drain, Mega Drain, with a base power of 40. A resisted Surf is stronger, though Mega Drain would heal at least. I'm dumb and somehow forgot to account for Mega Drain being super effective, which would make it much stronger than a resisted Surf. Oops.

As far as the algorithm thing goes, it's good to go through your sub list and open each page individually. I was wondering what Acid was going to bring to the table over Hydro Pump or Ice Beam until I saw the Lorelei fight. Completely forgot about the potential Lorelei-Rest softlock. Also week 2 of recommending Victini is Black. That said I’m a Unova fanboy and am excited for Audino too. It’s an iconic Unova Pokemon just for how many you defeat to overcome Gen 5’s experience system. Good run, swords dance - wrap is a good combo on tentacool. Surf/ hydro pump and save the blizzard tm until after loreli, mega drain cloyster. Teach blizzard ,rest, ect. after.

Well this was a wild run, skipping a lot of trainers with a slow growth rate Pokémon usually comes back to bite you, but you could have probably muscled past Lorelei earlier with swords dance + acid or barrier for badge boosts. Sucks to miss out on the premiers but KZbin is terrible at their job and communication with creators writ large, fingers crossed it works out, you deserve credit the views.

MDB pretty sure if you lose to Blaine in any challenge run it’s an instant-failure 😂 Jokes aside this run gave me an idea for a neat challenge idea: you know how you take a weak Pokémon and level it up super high to try and beat the whole game? Why not flip it on its head and take a really strong Pokémon and see how LOW of a level you can beat the game at? You were kinda halfway there with this strong gen 1 tentacool run, and also your Regigas runs but would be interesting to see you try and beat the game with like an Alakazam gen 1 at lvl 40, or some such nonsense.

Lost to Blaine AND Psywave, yet won so low level? Hell, must of of frozen over that day. Also looking forward to the Audino run. Been quite the fan of the Pokemon and have seen it go through so many clucth moments in the past. So it'll be interesting to see how well it can handle on its own. Also I always use the subription tab and not the Home page to see new videos from the people I watch, and don't recall having any other issues. (Not that I dont use the home page, but it's mostly for people im not already subscribed to.) So maybe that would help others as well. But I get that it sucks when KZbin won't recommend the videos people want to watch.

Hey, i have some maybe fun ideas for runs. Number one would be a Vulpix only run in gen 4. This could be interesting, because it can learn quite a lot. So maybe this will work out well? Second, for some easy time, you need that as well MDB: an Eeveelution run in gen 4, most interesting would be Platinum. I wonder what you can do with decent Pokémon in a challenge. Third, i think you might have fun in another team run: "Can i beat Pokémon Silver/Crystal/Gold as Elite 4 Bruno?". Usually you have rarely problems with him. But i kind of have a feeling, in gen 2 this might be weird at several times.

I've got an idea for a challenge. Imagine Pokémon Emerald but you can only use recoil moves? Basically, only moves that grant recoil damage can be used. That means that struggle could technically be used if needs be.

Honestly the premiere feature also made the "watch later" option misbehave too so it might not be a bad thing to try posting videos the other way. I can tell you anecdotally that whenever one of your premiere notifications showed up on my phone while I was asleep (I work nights) I couldn't add it to my watch later when I woke up and got the notification, even if the premiere had ended several hours prior and the video was now posted as normal. Additionally, the app never pushed a second notification to inform me that the video had been posted like it does for my other favorite content creators who don't use premiere. Typically my routine is Wake up, check my notifications, add any videos that I want to watch later to my watch later list, then go about my business as usual. I don't usually have time or mental capacity to watch KZbin videos right when I first wake up so I utilize the watch later feature very heavily. The end result of all of this was that if I didn't make a conscious effort to open the app search up your video and add it to the queue manually I would forget about it until I eventually remembered to search it later.

Hey i think it would be interesting to do a beldum team run for platinum ( Flint and garchomp might stomp you ) as beldum can only use take down. I picked a team run so that the run doesn't end too early ( yes i have that little faith in it and I also forgot Bertha ) the catch would be that you're only allowed to use the second beldum when the "solo" is deemed unbeatable ( can use rare candies to cath the second beldum up if you want to ) and same for the remaining 4 beldums to see how many beldum you would need to beat the game, if you beat the game

3:13, 5:00 Acid is "not very effective" on Bug/Poison* Weedle, but is "super effective" on Grass/Poison* Bulbasaur, and Vine Whip is "not very effective" on Water/Poison* Tentacool. Therefore the *first* type was used for Acid vs Weedle and the *second* type was used for Acid vs Bulbasaur and Vine Whip vs Tentacool. Therefore the actual rule for what text and sound effect to use looks obscure. For now let's say it makes no sense because it's gen 1. *The 3 type orders are consistent between Bulbapedia, Serebii and Smogon.

Not quite. There is an order to type checks for moves, see bulbapedia "dual-type damage missinformation" for chart. It doesn't have to do with which type is first but simply which type match up comes last in the chart.

Not only is gen1 blizzard 90 accuracy, it was even more broken in the original Japanese releases of red and green. Not only did it have 90 accuracy, it also had a 30 percent chance to freeze

I am not at the end of the video yet, but, in games without a post game I kind of feel like it should be okay for you to cheat in game corner tokens for buying moves, once you get to the elite 4. I only say this because, technically, you could just grind at the game corner for the extra tokens and the general consensus in the past has been "MDB, it is okay for you to skip grinding stuff if it will exclusively save time".

I think having your rival pick Venusaur instead of Blastoise made this much easier. Your only answer to water types was Acid and Mega Drain.
