Jigglypuff is one of my all-time favorites, so it's actually really fascinating (and reassuring) to know it's possible to complete Yellow with it. It just takes a lot of (Wiggly)tough love and patience fitting for the little puffball.

Usually, I'd suggest making Jigglypuff even more of a tank than it already is by making use of X-Defends, but as you don't allow items in battle, I'd say you used the moves I would've used. I'm a big fan of Jigglypuff, I consider them underrated. I'd say you did them justice.

Jigglypuff's only great move in gen 1 is sing, mainly due to sleep being a broken status in gen 1.

@@francoisSwine The accuracy isn't even the worst bit, it's the speed of Jigglypuff. Going second and trying to use sing means you always get hit at least once per attempt. Add to that Jiggly lacks the power to kill most things fast, meaning the 2-3 turns you get out of sing are rarely enough. It's an okay move, it's just wasted on such a slow and weak pokemon.

Given that many Pokémon follow that trend, it’s not a mistake. They intentionally gave Sing, a sort-of great move given Gen 1 mechanics, to the Pokémon least able to take advantage of Sing.

My jigglybaby may not be the best but it's immune to all of giratina's STABs in the modern games and that's what counts. Also I love it which is more important

For Jigglypuff's fight against Lance, I think using Blizzard instead of Ice Beam might have prevented you from having to use rare candies before Lance. Since it does around 26% more damage, you might've been able to OHKO the Dragonairs and Dragonite, reducing the amount of damage you had to take. The 90% accuracy definitely would've been worth the risk, as that's only a ~34% chance to miss a single time across 4 uses, and missing would just mean you'd take an extra hit which was something you did anyway with Ice Beam.

Using Mega punch against Cerulean Rival's Eevee for that last bit of damage was so risky, sure Water Gun wasn't guaranteed to hit either after 2 sand attacks, but it's so much more accurate by default

When you taught Psychic you replaced Bubblebeam, I would have personally kept Bubblebeam and deleted Sing, with a view to possibly replacing Bubblebeam with Ice Beam in the late game A sleep move with low accuracy in my opinion is often more trouble than it's worth and offence is often the best form of defence

Funnily enough, I remember in the recent videos he made this mistake with keeping Hypnosis on Hypno/Poliwrath simply because Sleep is overpowered. Both, as it turns out, are capable sweepers without it. And while Hypno can use Hypnosis to its advantage, Poliwrath is far better as a coverage sweeper.

Assuming Arcanine has four moves and selects it's moves randomly, selecting the same move thrice in a row should be 0,25^3x100 =1,5% or a 1 in 64 chance. I could be badly wrong, but that's what I think I can remember from school.

There are alot of times in gen 1 it feels entirely random, but it does seem to at times have weighted decision making, even if agility against a poison type, as an example, isnt exactly smart programming. Im not sure in what cases its entirely random, but the bosses, like the gym leaders, are supposed to have "smart AI" which behaves differently. Wish I knew how it worked so we could know the odds, but at the best of times gen 1 is... Quirky. Gen 2 is certainly far more consistent with its move choices, even if sometimes the choices still seem hairbrained. Im not sure how well gen 1 is broken down for odds of events, but with how buggy it is Im sure itll break its own AI rules at some points.

@@silvershadow5652 possible... Although of the "good" AI's in Gen 1 (if he falls in this category at all) Blaine is the odd ball. He doesn't seem to have the same triggers the other gym leaders /E4 trainers have, for example to always use "supereffective" moves if possible. Since I doubt they would have given Blaine exclusively a differently programmed AI which is capable of weighted decision making, I would tend to believe Blaine was give the random AI, for what ever reason, probably an oversight if when you think about what other oversights they made 😅 Anyway, since I couldn't know, I just assumed he was acting randomly otherwise I couldn't have done the calculation. Better a rough approximation, than no answer at all.

Plus a lot of the comments have really helped me improve my content. I have a philosophy of seeking critism everyday, that way I can improve! I think you might have been able to take out Exeggutor in 2 hits with Body Slam instead of taking 3 hits from Ice Beam because Exeggutor has a monster special stat, but its defense is only average.
