Don’t understand why, in match fishing, paste is discounted as a winter bait when in other disciplines it comes to the fore. In carp fishing for instance, paste is seen as a great winter bait as it is highly attractive, breaks down quickly sending out food signals, is easily digestible and passes through the carp quickly meaning they are more likely to continue feeding more regularly. Also, for river anglers, paste is a top winter bait especially for chub and barbel for the same reasons as above. It seems to me certain things are discounted far too easily because of what people read and watch and far too few people are prepared to go against the grain and try things for themselves. Okay you might try something and it really doesn’t work but at least you’ve tried it and can dismiss it but sometimes, very occasionally, just by trying something for yourself you can stumble across a real edge. For example, hemp and tares are seen as a late summer, early autumn bait and yet some of my best bags of roach have come to these baits in January after a hard frost. Just because, historically, books have said this doesn’t work or a famous angler says in AT that this bait is a summer bait only doesn’t mean to say it is written in stone. If it were we would all still be thinking that carp are impossible to catch in winter and that tench have mythical healing powers.

nice demonstration of paste fishing. You are right, there is no reason why Paste cant be used as a change bate in the winter when expanders are not catching. Well done

Tried it yesterday afternoon on our clubs canal lake. In 3 hrs fishing had 30lb. Couple of decent carp and the rest were 3-3.75lb hybrids Unmissable bites. Also caught a nice 3lb barbel on it a couple of days ago and some larger bream. Highly recommend it

Paste is a method that I have spent years perfecting. My favourite. Caught me hundreds of pounds of big carp in the warmer months. Might even give it a go in colder weather now I have seen it can be done Joe.

Great bait. Don't know why so many anglers shy away from it
@michaelhird70192 жыл бұрын
Great video. I've been thinking of using just paste this winter on the pole, I only fish for big carp so might be ghe best approach. My thinking is boilies work all your round and paste is basically a boilie that hasn't been boiled. :)

Nice video Joe, started using paste end of last year and had some nice fish end of March this year, I find it does select chunks quite a lot of the time.

Joe one paste head to another . In summer I have my favourite Paste , I also find out what’s popular at the fishery, for instance when I fish Lindholme I make paste out of. Dynamite Betaine Green and Marine halibut as They all use it with the method, I have used cool water silver fish Black on my local water as a lot of other anglers use it.

A friend of mine wouldn't entertain going fishing without paste whatever the time of year. It might not be his go to bait but he would have some ready. Now I might take a leaf out of his book.

Why did you soak so many pellets, and make so much paste, for an hour’s session just out of interest? Interesting results though. Cheers I know a top angler who won’t use paste. Acknowledges it can be a devastating method on its day but just not consistent enough, often enough, he says. Would you agree with that summary?

@simondickinson21543 жыл бұрын
Match Fishing Films Thanks for your answers. I like to listen to everyone’s views and opinions then make my own mind up based on evidence put before me and from what I’ve experienced myself. I’ll happily fish paste at certain venues and under certain conditions in the warmer months as it generally picks out the bigger fish on bigger dollops of paste. In winter, I’ll stick with fishing for bites, with lighter lines, smaller hooks, feeding less, with natural baits like maggots and fluoro pinkies though. Thanks for taking time out to do the video though. Enjoyed it and always appreciate the effort that goes into these. 👍🐟🐟🐟

I think on the bigger matches (fish o qualifiers etc) then paste is hit and miss. But on open events where u have more space then paste is fantastic
