Tench are my favourite fish and nostalgia plays a big part. First coarse fishing gear I owned was a cheap glass fibre DAM float and feeder set from argos. Feeder rod was about 7ft with a plastic reel and on my first trip to a local river caught a 3lb Thomas using corn bending the rod straight over. Loved them ever since.

Brilliant video,,, had some great fishing for crusians n tench on natural venues using tiny paste baits ,, old boys used bread paste prepared in all manner of methods as well , 👍

Club I belong to has a Tench only lake, so gonna give this a go, and like Jay lad said years ago, use to grind up your trout pellets to make your paste, not paste fished for donkeys years

I used to use something similar I used a cat meat slop then finished a bit of meat on the hook. I had 220 and at lake nine at the glebe

I got very obsessed fishing paste years ago it was like a drug,used to soak micros over night,then add coloured food dyes

great video again. i think a challenge should be that ypu use eachothers kits so jay uses andys n andy uses jays kits and tackle cos that will be fun. especially if you change depths on kits lol.

Did you get as far up as Two Mills and fish the Irby Anglers ponds? I fished all around Raby, Wirral Anglers, Cammell Lairds and Port Sunlight too

Same up in lancs on mill ponds n odd farm pool,, , it was old boys on bread pastes n 1.5 lb line size 22 hooks for crusians , spending 10 mins landing a 2 lb tench ,, , how things change eh .

I love paste I love paste I love paste big small and now I'm doing really well with it shallow too done 120lb in 3hrs shallow last week it's an awesome bait when you get it right 👍👍👍

@@leafysfishing paste on deck is quite easy when you master the bites your float never keeps still but wait until it goes propa don't get into all these expensive paste mixes either get some special G green or gold just add a bit of smell I use krill n squid and then just add the water but riddle the groudbait first you don't want any lumps

@@leafysfishing as for fishing shallow it's all about your feeding keep the feed minimal but regular and then it's all about finding the best depth to catch um in sometimes you'll catch them 15 to 18inches then they can come right up and you can be catching them 8 inches off the top and casters shallow are doing me fine lately I've just broke my local venue record on um 👍
