These are great videos…. Lots of these old engines out there in similarly poor shape.

Enjoyed the video Mike. Man that thing is ROUGH! I knew you'd get it running but was surprised to see you pull that top end. Good one!

I think this is the first video I've seen you tear into one of these engines. Glad to see it. Great video, Mike. Thanks! Looking forward to the follow up episode(s).

It’s pretty rare for me to tear into one. Not really a part of rebuilding these bikes that I enjoy.

Dude, when me and my buddies were about 8 to 12 years old. My best friend Jeff Jackson. He lived next door to me. Had a bike identical to this and it would never start from kick. Starting it we always had to push. Start it and rarely then would it whatever start? But when it did, we would have such a ball? He would give us rides around the house with it and stuff. Cause we lived right in the middle of town. So we didn't have anywhere to write it really except for around the yard.. But even though we rarely got to ride that thing I used to have a ball trying to get it started.It was exciting man and then every once in a while we would succeed and then it was a really great day when we actually succeeded.

You need to fabricate a Dolly or some kind of cart to move. The bikes that don't roll.

Hiya buddy, I knew you would get it running. I feel your pain on the exhaust stuck in the head, looking forward to seeing the others running.

It sounded like the key fell out when you pulled the flywheel off.
@MiniBikeMikeАй бұрын
I thought it was the key also, but it was the steel bracket that holds the wiring in place….it had rusted into two pieces.

Shame the frame is so badly shot 😢 good vid 👍 I believe you can get replacement hex head screws for the stator backplate, which are often easier to remove than the original JIS screws.
@MiniBikeMikeАй бұрын
The frame isn’t that bad, just a hole or two.

A couple days after you left the dude's house in Michigan, I showed up and bought all the parts associated with all those bikes. Judging by the condition of the parts, those kids at the camp rode the bikes pretty hard.
@MiniBikeMikeАй бұрын
What parts did you buy? He had a ton of other bikes, but I wasn’t interested in the newer stuff, the 80’s CT70’s. He had lots of other bikes, Hodakas, etc.
@tedy1241Ай бұрын
@@MiniBikeMike I grabbed all the CT70 parts from 1974 and earlier. The bulk of the parts I ended up with were from K1 bikes. I loaded up a full size Silverado, bed and cab. Tons of parts!
@MiniBikeMikeАй бұрын
@tedy1241 You must have went before I did or went to another location, all I saw was bikes, I didn’t see any parts.

I’ve got a ‘77 Honda CG125 the previous owner must of had the flywheel off but messed up the woodruff key. Turns out the ones for the Honda GX generators are the same size and pretty cheap and easy to get hold of.

I’ve got a bag full of the keys I used. Pretty close to right shape, just took a little modification.

lol same exact bike from hurricane Sandy, i feel your pain . pretty much done. i was wondering about that new stator set up. is that a 12v set up now ? im tying to figure out how to go 12v on 6v system. ordered a 6 to 12 step up converter but not sure how to go about wiring it into the factory harness . pretty sure i cant just go from the battery to the main harness because it ties back into the stator. any advise would be appreciated. Great video as always.
@MiniBikeMikeАй бұрын
I believe this stator is 6v…..but not really sure.
