You are one of the few quilting wags that don’t encourage rampant consumerism. You stay true to the true meaning of quilting. Keep up the good work. Love it.

Nice work. I can't afford to send mine to the long arm so I quilt all mine on my regular machine. It usually turns out great.

Very cute quilt and I love the backing fabric too. That featherweight could do it because the older machines were made so well. Now there are a bunch of plastic parts on them and they don’t hold up as well. Thanks for sharing!

I piece all of my quilts on my Featherweight and then hand quilt because I like to hand sew. But I can see how this would be good if you want to. Thanks for the video. 🌴Plant City, Florida 🌴

I have my great grandmothers featherweight she bought in 1935! I learned to sew on it. I am so jealous of your new purchase! That little white singer is adorable. You can google to see when it was made. If you have any of the attachments they are wonderful! Mine needs a tune up. That is an interesting quilt pattern but so adorable. Great job as always!

Good to know straight line quilting works On the Featherweight. What is the largest quilt you’ve quilted you’ve done on your Featherweight? I do all my piecing on my Featherweight and my quilting on my Janome 9400. But I’m going to try it on the Featherweight as soon as my walking foot comes. It’s been shipped, yay!

I have a Featherweight 222K (freearm) and can drop the feed dogs. I free-motion quilted a small lap quilt on my machine. Wouldn't want to go any larger, but it came out great. So many people think you need a special machine for quilting. Great video, Beth!

I like the visual interest on the pattern with the interplay of the background with the print. The featherweights are so expensive now. I have a 1946 Kenmore made by White. It is a rotary and makes the most perfect stitches. It is cast aluminum and weighs about 18 lbs. It is my favorite piecing machine. A child we be comforted and delighted by this charming quit made by such a charming maker.

Just taking my Janome 5400 to be fixed. So much trouble with these computer machines. I’m ordering a walking foot for my Featherweight and I’m going to get this 48 x 54 quilt quilted on My Featherweight. I see you’re not using the walking foot but I’m going to order one. I think I feel More comfortable with that but I’m happy to see your video to see how To quilt a larger quilt. All the other videos I found just use little samples Swatches.

I use my Featherweight for all piercing and absolutely love it. Never a problem with my featherweight. Amit a year ago I went to the Featherweight website to learn how to get a blob of thread out of the bobbin area and have also changed the belt. At least with these, I can pretty much take care of it myself without taking it in. I have to Featherweight, just in case one has to be in for repair. I can’t live without it. I have a walking foot for my Featherweight, but I have not used it yet. After the holidays I’m going to practice on something small like a table runner.

If you do purchase one you will never ever regret it. It does the best stitching for piecing and you’ll never want to piece on another machine. End it is so quiet compared to my computerized machine.

What an interesting pattern and a great quilt. You did a wonderful job on that little Featherweight, Beth. I think I would be hesitant to attempt that, but you made it look easy. Have you ever used quilting gloves? I can't seem to do it without them, because my hands slip so much. You don't look as though you have any trouble.

I am a chicken; a quilting chicken...cluck, cluck, squaaawk. I make a LOT of donation quilts, so this would be ideal for me to cut down on my costs. But I have that fear of "what if my lines aren't straight, what if there are skipped stitches, what if the thread looks bad on the fabric, etc." I would never even attempt free motion quilting. So, I send all my quilts to the lovely longarm lady who does such beautiful work. But I roll my eyes and shake my head at the cost. Has anyone who received this kind of quilt ever said that this type of quilting is too simple or complained if it's not perfect? How do you remove the chalk? Thanks!
@bethshibleyquilts
@bethshibleyquilts 2 жыл бұрын
Chalk came off easily with a little water in a spray bottle. By the time I was done quilting there was only a hint of the chalk.

Is it fleece u r using for batting? I'm in the process of quilting a large scrap quilt, using fleece for the batting. Just wondering if it needs to be 3 inches from each row, could it be more? This quilt is cute, thanks again for sharing.
