Hmm might have to get myself a microscope now!! Good work on the second MGB!

Thanks friend! I have to admit it wasn't necessary for the type of work, but it helps getting nice shots of the work being done. Was able to spot all the damage I repaired without the microscope already.

Really like your videos. Keep up the good work. Sorry I'm new to board repair and I saw that you soldered this piece of wire through a via hole (repair #1). Why did you do this? Isn't removing the corrosion with a scratch pen and reflowing them enough?

Hi, I'm new to this too. It may have been unnecessary but I did that for longevity's sake: I want to sell these boards. There are a few things that worried me: 1) The via could be damaged and suffer more damage as current went through. 2) I cleaned it but they say any untreated amount of corrosion spreads, I don't think it's possible to fully clean a via since it's a very tiny hole 3) It's a relatively high power line being part of the power circuit, so since it had suffered damage I felt better reinforcing it. It was a very cheap thing to do to be fair and I think redundancy helps with aging electronics :)

Sorry I missed your question about the reflowing. Yes it would have been good, but if the solder didn't meet in the middle (no way of telling that) it wouldn't have been as effective as the wire. The wire makes sure I know it goes both ways.
