You open connections like she immediately did, and then you see this: __________ ● Wifi ○ Bluetooth ○ NFC & mobile payment ○ Airplane Mode - Mobile networks - Mobile Hotspot -> More connection settings ______________ What do you do press to connect to a Bluetooth speaker? Bluetooth? No. First, you go to "Mobile Hotspot", then to "More connection settings".
@MrSen4lifE Жыл бұрын
@@irissupercoolsy "It's literally 3 taps on the screen" You need to have grown up with the concept of a screen and taps for that to mean anything at all. The puzzle is literally easier. If you put both down infront of a human that never heard about either, they are figuring out the puzzle first. IMO It is pretty weird that is not obvious to more people.
@MrSen4lifE Жыл бұрын
On the flip side however, after having worked at a Verizon store for a few years where we spent a lot of time helping entitled old people, Ethan's mom's attitude comes entirely from learned helplessness and getting away with just saying "But I don't know how!" in a really whiney voice which gets someone else to do it. It is the anxiety that leads to the prolonged struggle where you get stuck on a menu with 5 clear, big font options and you "just can't see it" because what's really happening is their brain is spinning wondering why they can't just get someone to serve it to them like they're used to. 90% of the energy and time is on "WHY DO >I< HAVE TO DO THIS" then 10% finally gets around to doing it. It was actually an older couple that really opened my eyes to that being how people work by default, with an older wife digging into an older husband for just being straight up lazy and not wanting to even try to figure it out -- after that, we stopped taking technical inquiries at the store outside of the purchase window because it was pretty clear how people would just take advantage. Random useless tidbit but, struggling when you're actually trying is okay -- it's the part where she doesn't actually want to try at all that makes it so bad

@hirnfaser72453 жыл бұрын
@@cantfiteveryheart Yeah, there's an easier way: better usability. Make the damn "Not now" button more prominent. When googling for "google mail", there should be a clear big box directing to gmail. It could even suggest to write a mail or show a summary of the last 5 arrived mails. When she clicked on that second gmail link, google suggested to "sign in" although she was already signed in. Why? This is confusing. That error thing was just pure bad UX. Errors can happen but they'll certainly disrupt the experience. Tell the user to reload the page, don't leave him alone. Many services with lots of features use tours to guide the user through features they're unfamiliar with. Whether is works well is controversial, but it would've helped in this case. It's easy to blame the user. But creating bad user experiences will lead to people not getting a simple job done; this is especially true for people who are unfamiliar with the topic or computers in general. Solution would be to make better products and to not only design one path. Get your service tested by all sorts of people. Not so hard.

my mom will purposely act like a boomer so that i get frustrated by just seeing her struggle and do the task for her. i fall for it everytime...

This is better than frenemies. Trisha is finally gone. She is moderately entertaining but just a putrid person.
@Mr2BonClay3 жыл бұрын
I’m definitely not on Trisha’s side but I’m pretty sure being a good person involves not calling people “putrid” because they had a disagreement on KZbin…?
@jdawg84753 жыл бұрын
@@Mr2BonClay she isn't a bad person because of a disagreement. Lol you obviously have never seen anything she has said or done for the past 5 to 10 years.
@caytonhopson32003 жыл бұрын
@@Mr2BonClay she said she messed up big time she also agreed she goes back to the past so she knew she couldn’t maintain a healthy relationship like this on here. she also pointed out she is literally crazy and that’s okay cuz she’s always relevant. this is all from the podcast she did with zach sang

@@jdawg8475 they only had their positive character arc once they got on this show. And when they blew that they just retracted to the person that they always were which was exactly what you described. Sounds harsh but it’s the truth

I genuinely don't understand how someone can function in todays society while not knowing how to send a fucking email

I once walked into my front room to find my dad on the computer wearing sunglasses, because he said the screen was too bright.

Ethan's mom is thousand times funnier than Trisha. Now I just might actually watch "Frenemies".

This is really educational in how even simple dark patterns can affect non-tech-literate people. Even though she clearly stated that she didn't want to perform the optional task of adding security details to her account, she was unable to even read "not now" let alone recognize it as a button (15:45). Later, because "sign in" isn't highlighted, the only thing her brain recognizes is the big "create an account" button (20:42). We take this for granted, but it is these kinds of people with less exposure to UI nudging who companies need to be aware of when designing user-friendly UX.

I love how Ethan says about soduko that "he's not up to date with the patterns and stuff" as if we're all subscribed to soduko weekly
