❤️👍 deep thanks for sharing your insight. I was athletic as a kid and LOVED running (in bare feet!!). Now I'm 51, overweight, get sore feet, etc etc. I have sketchers I wear most days. Sometimes I love their cushioning and other days it feels like it isn't helping, esp thru my posture. I've watched a couple of your videos and sure I'll be paying attention (to where my foot is landing) when walking. Have subscribed and hope to learn more. Much gratitude! 🙏

Well no disadvantages is not True. I mean speed and performance wise sure. But standing still for longer periods burns the feet and tires the legs compared to someone Who doesnt have flat feet+ collapsed arches. Of course if you train the feet this Will become better. But it's quite the process vs Just not having the issue. Im noticing quite a lot of issues with this. But perhaps because I have flat feet + fallen arches? I find good orthotics relieve pressure from my hips and they feel good when walking. But yes your foot has to get used to the orthotics, you cant Just use them 8 hours first go. But i have been using of and on for years and it is actually pretty nice

I don't have flat feet, but a lot of pronation due to loose joints in my feet. I've followed a lot of your videos and doing a LOT of foot and hip strengthening exercises. I'm getting stronger but I'm not finding the pronation to be getting better, but I can force myself to walk in better alignment. But still when I try to balance on one foot it wobbles. I feel stress in my outer calves and feet as I walk and some soreness in my hip. And some posture issues that you called out. I'm willing to work hard on this. I wore corrective shoes as a child. They were a big thing in the 60s and early 70s and they ruined my feet. They caused bunions and low toe flexibility and caused me to duck walk. It was impossible to walk right much less play and run in them because they were so stiff. I have naturally wide feet and high arches and good flexibility. I really want to build strong feet and better balance and proper body alignment. I'm doing leg and foot strengthening, leg and foot adductor and abductor exercises, hip stretching, asian squats, toe spreaders, foot and toe exercises, stretching, lots of walking in bare feet and barefoot shoes, and balancing. What can someone like me do at 61 to recover normal foot function besides what I'm already doing?
@GrownandHealthy2 жыл бұрын
It is difficult to know without seeing. You can schedule a consultation coach@grownandhealthy.com. The side of your Calves (Peroneal muscles) and lateral thigh, is good signal... You can look at the Tibialis muscles and strengthen those, to gain balance.

@@adriangpuiu There are many "flat footed" athletes...Usain Bolt, Simone Biles etc... too many to name. Majority of the problem is what this weak position does to our movement and body (bunions, duck walking, hammertoe, plantar fasciitis, ankle stiffness and overall foot pain.) The goa is not to give people high arches, just strength and control. Keep working on it.. consistency is key.

I started out agreeing with you, NO orthotic will ‘fix’ flat feet. I disagree with “you or your parents messed up your feet as a child..”. 3 of the 4 of my family members have flat feet, VERY flat... our parents never got our shoes anywhere but a high-end children’s shoe store, also, we were thin/fit kids/adults with excellent posture. Having flat feet is something you’re *born* with not unlike blue or brown eyes or being tall or short, you can’t ‘fix’ it, just learn to *work* with it. Strengthening the entire foot is best but posture is certainly *not* a contributor. When I *did* try the custom computer-fit $500+ orthotics, I have to admit, after the 6 month adjustment period, my whole body felt better! But.... I could *never* go without them for more than 30 min or so or *everything* hurt. It just wasn’t practical! I did see how a slight arch helped to better align my entire body though. I’ve spent my entire life trying to help my flat feet & I’ve just given up. 🦶🏼🦶🏼
@GrownandHealthy2 жыл бұрын
I shared the same experience as you. The shoes are the factor making a low arch foot worse. Feet have just as much variety in shape and ability as hands. Shoes are not designed for low arch or wide feet. Wearing shoes that are not designed with your feet, will deform your feet over time. One of the deformations is big toe that is bent towards the pinky toe. The Arch is created from the Big toe (First Ray), The Calcaneus and the Talus inbetween. Conventional shoes, especially worn to small and tightly laced will constrict your feet. Leading to your feet literally "giving up" and ceding to the shape of the shoe. This is the first indication of a shoe imposed weakness. The only true flat feet, that can not be fixed, is with a big toe pointing towards the body's midline.
@user-22-2 жыл бұрын
Grown and Healthy We always had narrow feet & to this day my toes are perfectly straight & not bent in any way. Even in the 60’s, where we got our shoes, they had a scanner/X-ray machine that would give you the best fit for every kids foot shape/mechanics. I’m not trying to doubt your theories but in my case they weren’t a factor, other peoples feet maybe. I’ve finally come to just accept what God gave me & try to deal with the whole-body pain it’s caused me all my life.

Wearing orthotics make my leg getting back to its correct position. U made a great point about strengthening glute and feet I am working on it. For people who first wear orthotics, please let 6 months-1 years barely training your legs, it is so painful as your legs are getting back to the correct position as before your knees had been caved in.
