Very interesting. I've thought for a long time that winters could only be dark haired/ high contrast... because that's what I've heard and read the most. But then I started to discover that there are actually professional color analysts who have a different opinion on the matter, such as you. I like your way of thinking better, it makes more sense actually. I think that many people often seem to lump together brightness with high contrast. Which is stupid, I've started to realize. They are two separate things . I have a question... what is the most common and least common palette you have analyzed ?

Hmm, I wonder how much what you see in the recording differs from how it all appeared in person, because I know a camera can never capture the full spectrum and nuance, but on my screen, at least, the darker colors suited her much better, whereas the brights at 21:40 almost seem to wash her out and the Spring tones definitely don't suit her to my eyes. Like, the lavender/periwinkle tone looks great, but the peachier tones seem all wrong when compared to the fuchsia, for example. I also thought that the Cool Summer palette at 18:00 looked maybe the best out of all the subseason palettes, especially that plum (although possibly minus the turqoise), although Cool Winter at 15:37 is maybe also tied for #1. A lot of the Winter colors seem to show up very neutral or even warm-ish on my screen, though, so I can't say how well what I see corresponds with what natural lighting actually showed, but I'd actually rank Deep Winter waaay above Bright Winter, and it's my pick for #3, at least of the palettes shown fully.

I am a bright spring but was always told I had the features of summer. Wearing summer colors my blue eyes looked dark brownish black. I never felt right wearing the cool muted colors. I finally realized stop following what other people said and do my own research. I have a warm undertone and look amazing in the bright spring colors. I have blue eyes and now that I wear the right color palette, my eyes look bright blue. People who have known me for years starting telling me they never knew my eyes were blue, but the right colors enhance your natural beauty. I wear less makeup and also spend so much less on my wardrobe. No more wondering if this will look good on me. Also my clothing mixes and matches so easily because they are the same value and intensity. It makes getting dressed so much easier. Loved the video... thanks for sharing! ❤

Great work done 👍! I totally agree with Bright Winter although she is blonde. I have a book from the 90s of "Colour me beautiful" written by Doris Pooser. It's also about the 12 Subseasons and for Bright Winter she shows a picture of an ashy blonde woman with a similar looking skin. I think i am a COOL Winter myself although i am blonde, more clear "wheat" blonde, neither really golden nor ashy, with grey eyes and lighter olive skin tone, which tans very easily. My dad and sister have the same skintone and undertone, but they had dark brown and black hair, before they got grey early. Most summer colours wash me out, are too muted or too soft. It's very obvious by using lipstick or eyeshadow colours. It just shows, that the skintone and its undertone is the most relevant thing by chosing the right season. Thank you for all these great videos ❤!

Hi, I just watched the video and here's what I think: First of all my colouring is quite similar (although my hair is more medium ash blonde). So I'm also light and neutral-cool undetone. For a long time I was confused because I thought I was closest to summer, but summer colours seemed too muted to me. The best I thought were light summer colours, but they seemed too light and pastelly - like you say here they are for your customer. I think the problem is actually with the palettes. Most light summer palettes are too light for people like us, but I think bright winter colours are too harsh for her. I mean the combination of lighter bright winter & some bright spring colours was very good on her, but as a whole when you showed the whole bright winter palette, it was too harsh and contrasted for her. Too dark colours in it & definitely black is too much. My aha moment was when I found the sci-art light summer palette, which seems to be different from most other light summer pallettes. It has more medium toned that are quite bright but tinted with white, so not as saturated or contrasted as winter colours. I love those colours as a primarily light & kind of bright coloured person! This was very long comment, but I've been thinking exactly these colour questions so much. So what I'm saying is you got her colours right but pallettes are just not quite right for her. And I 100% agree autumn colours are not here colours. 😊

I just went to new analyst. And she she thinks I’m a spring but she second guessed herself and now thinks winter. My closet is filled with 50% winter clothes. 20+ years ago I was analyzed as a summer. What I thought was I was buying as summer colors are actually winter colors. I’m coming to the conclusion I’m a bright and should stay away from the dark colors. My analyst is having come back at no additional cost and meet with her business partner with much more experience to finalize it. I’m so glad you are an honest analyst who knows a blond can be a winter. I told my analyst to cover my hair but she forgot. My friend went with me and had her colors done and she is a definite spring. Because she colors her hair she remembered to cover her hair. Because my hair color is natural, she didn’t think to cover it. I’ve had people insinuate that I have colored my hair and that the colors are wrong for me. 😂😂😂 No, this is natural. Ignore the hair and pick my colors. I’m sure that whichever season, I will be able to borrow the brights from the other bright season.

She has almost like a silvery glow to her skin, especially with the cool pink... that *kind of* disappeared with the silver fabric, but it still looked better than the gold one. And the icy blue from the bright palette looked lovely on her! Also, thank you for saying that blondes can be winters as well! I've been struggling with figuring out my season because of the attitude that winters can only be brunettes. My natural hair is light-to-mid-brown with a hint of red in it (I hate how it looks, but that's a different story), but I feel like I look best in black (which is a winter-only colour, IIRC).

I'm a winter with natural golden blond hair and I'm neutral enough so both gold and silver suit me, as long as they are clear, not at all muted. I got color analysed by my grandma when I was a teenager with large fabric drapes. My sister is also a winter, she has platinum/white blonde hair, but only silver looks good on her. Never in those old Color me beautiful- books I could find my hair color in the winter category, although there was platinum blond mentioned. Before the color analysis, I wore mainly summer colors, which are too muted for me, and I often felt I looked a bit washed out in them.

Greetings from Germany I know that kind of colour spectrum and undertone searching advice for over 30 years. I'm so glad that that knowledge is kind of back. Now everybody is told that you can wear anything witch is true. But in knowing your colour palette one can build a coherent closet. Everything fits together, even accsessories and jewellry. Good for sustainable purpose And the things that aren't neccesarly your "fit in your palette" can be worn as some sort of fancy exception. I' m telling this as a 50 Year old woman who was given a colour consultation and advice at the age of 19. Since then I saved money because in knowing I'm a Winter I had no bad buyes at all in my life. All my clothes fit together and my exception is on summer dress with a lot orange in it. I rock this dress by doing good make up when I wear it 😉 Hope that was understandable since Englisch is a foreign laguage to me. Lots of compliments to your work 😊 Alexandra from Bavaria Germanyno

I’m also a light blonde and my main characteristics are light, bright and warm, according to the analysis I got. I wasn’t sure if I was Light or Bright Spring, but it turns out I am some of both. Everyone always thought I was a Summer and too light to be bright. I found an excellent bright color palette that works so much better for me than soft and light colors only. I wear the brighter colors from Light Spring and also Bright Spring colors (but not the warmest, because I have a lot of neutrality). I’m just so glad to have this validated a professional, and another on this video. I have always felt best in bright colors, but people always told me blondes should wear light and soft colors. My hair is bright strawberry blonde and my eyes are a darker bright green, so I’m not uniformly light.

Than I've hold some warm colours (from yarncones), warm brown, an orange at my neck and took a picture. Than I did the same with very cool colours. I hold them together and with warm colours my skin look grey, really bad. Naturally I 've got dark ash blond, dark eyebrows and my eyes are dark icy blue. Others discribe them as a "ice lightning". My hair is naturally blonde. Light and bright Golden blonde as a kid. Its more of a dark blonde now with golden hues. My eyes are light blue like the sky around midday in summer. My skin is cool toned and fair. I wear pinks well. Yellow, orange and brown is a definite no. I Assume I fit into winter better but always told my hair isnt dark enough, and its got warm tones.

Can you please tell me, what exactly is cool summer deep? What season do peacock colors fall into? Can I find autumn,winter, spring, summer colors in outdoor scenery during every season? For example: a geranium or begonia in coral spring tones,a gerbera or petunia in summer pink/red,a hosta in summer blue green and a burdock in hunter or forest green ,a Japanese maple or other tree in purple plum tones,and cool winter white flowers - if it grows in summer is it a summer color,period? Are leaves simply a matter of yellow vs blue based summer colors? I'd very much like to use this in my garden.

I don't follow that system of cool summer deep but I imagine it's bordering Winter colours. Yes, you can find any colour from any season at any time of the year if you look hard enough! :)

@@sarahryanthestylecoach So it doesn't mean you can be any intensity in any category/sub-category rather than your intensity automatically putting you in a category. ☺️

There’s a color analyst who often posts pictures where she has typed people as winters, and they have light to medium brown hair highlighted blonde, and I’m just very suspicious of it, especially bc the bright colors really overpower them. And I think she might just like winter colors. But she charges a lot for that.

From my studies of colour and travelling to over 80 countries I have found that some Seasons are more common in some parts of the world than others so depending where that consultant is based it could be quite true! Geography does play a part :)

Please can you analyse someone with grey hair ? I have blue eyes, loads of freckles and grey hair. I burn easily then go brown. It’s quite hard to work out what I should wear.
@sarahryanthestylecoach Жыл бұрын
Hi Rachel, I will try to find someone willing to be on KZbin that has grey hair. But please keep in mind, this will not give you the answers you are looking for. Only a colour analysis of you will give you the correct information. Many people make this mistake of trying to compare themselves with somebody with similar features and this can lead to confusion and making expensive style mistakes!

Maybe it’s time for me to get a professional analysis. I am goth and afraid of the result’s tbh. I have light grey eyes, very pale skin ( don’t know the undertone ) and I was a light blonde child but my natural hair is now extremely dark, my eye brows are very dark as well. But I think my brassy blonde bleached hair just throws everything off atm. I only wear black, so I am afraid to hear it doesn’t work for m. I don’t feel like myself in color at all. But I could incorporate accent colors maybe. It’s so hard….

I don't really understand any of this but from my understanding im "supposed" to be summer (don't know which). Blonde hair (although dulled down considerably) and blue eyes. Although, my hair colour is kind of unique right now as it's been dyed and faded, resulting in a bunch of different browns lol. However, I truly believe a dark red/ Burgundy, Medium brown colour suits me best. Personally I think I love absolutely *horrible* in pink, blue, pruple and orange and it only gets worse the brighter it gets haha

I don't believe in pigeon-holing someone to a season based on their looks without having draped them. I always let the colours do the talking. Maybe a colour consultation would give you some clarity if you are looking for it :)

Are the two dark seasons sister seasons even though they are opposite on the wheel?
@sarahryanthestylecoach Жыл бұрын
Exactly, the fact that they are opposite is just down to my design than anything else :)

I actually do not understand why people would think a blonde can't be a winter. It even became sort of a stereotype: a blonde woman wearing bright rich colours, especially the reds. They can't all be springs, can they? So, logically, some of them are winters.

People say I can't be Winter because I have like a more medium brown hair. But my hair color is pretty much the same as Alexis Bledel (actually I think hers is slightly lighter than mine) and she's considered a Winter. And like her, I have a pretty intense eye color that really stands out (mine is amber/hazel) and brighter colors, I feel, look nice on me.

Can people with almost black hair and eye be soft summer?

I never say never. I would want to see the drapes on them and let them do the deciding ☺️

Hosen do you define "winter"? Has it to be dark? Or just bright and cool?

Is she a natural blonde? And if not would the result be different if she had her natural hair colour✨

Yes, as I mentioned in the video, Amanda is a natural blonde. She has never coloured her hair.
@AndiieTee Жыл бұрын
Wow you’d think at first glance she would be a summer
@sarahryanthestylecoach Жыл бұрын
Yes, exactly but the softer colours really didn't bring much life to her features.
@whynot5698 Жыл бұрын
This was confusing. I felt like the warmer colors looked better on her. She has warmth in her eyebrows as well.. I agree that the brighter colors looked better on her than the muted ones. However she does not have the contrast that a winter has. I would have loved to see her try the light spring and light summer colors to compare. These subgroups seem to match all of her features.
@sarahryanthestylecoach Жыл бұрын
In the Light sub groups we would lose some of the chroma in the colours which she needed :)

Is this her true hair colour? People say I have salt and pepper hair but if I see her my hair looks more golden. Oh I now have heard it. Now that I know her haircolour is naturally that cool. I now know I must be warm and not cool.

As far as I know yes but it is extremely rare and very impresive .Blondes are usualy springs (warm) or summer(cool).The rare blode winter has almost white platinum hair and saphire blue eyes,usualy.

Yeah so color breeze. Im blonde, blue grey eyes and found out, that deep cold colors flatter me, only black not that much. They say, im a deep soft summer with winter secondary, but away from apps most even medium summer colors had not the deepness and contrast. And i have golden hair, warm overtone, cold eyes, cold undertone. Im annoyed of the "only black hair" are winters. That means, real professional analysis falls apart

I think she's really a Light spring. She can borrow from Light Summer. Clear and bright is most important for her. Temperature is less important. Bright Spring is somewhat good because she's clear and bright and Spring is her home season. Winter is better than Summer because Springs need brightness more than Summers.
@sarahryanthestylecoach Жыл бұрын
Totally! Clear and Bright is definitely most important for her so the light sub seasons are less intense therefore the light summer as a sister palette would begin to wash Amanda out :)

She is a brighter type of the Light Summer. She needs some brighter colours (not super bright) but she doesn´t tolerate stripes, she hasn´t that winterish contrast at all.
@MaryYoungblood-xy8vg Жыл бұрын
That is old thinking that cool + blonde= summer. That doesn't take into account the chrome or intensity of the coloring.
