@rzt430 world of warcraft has been holding massive comps with blizzcon every year for as long as i can remember even in shooter games there is always a meta does that mean shooters are not competitive ? Come to think about it some of the biggest esports games are very unbalanced like league of legends some heroes are well over tuned and will just crap on a loby unless you no nothing about moba games. Metas change all the time so making an mmo where it is easier to swap to a meta is how you make it comp viable this is just my opinion though but atleast in games like guildwars and the other games you mentioned if you truely are skilled at what you play you can atleast win and dominate in games unfortunately with throne and liberty it's about who spends the most time gearing or who spends the most money on gear it's just not a good way to build a game it's a greedy way it's sad really because throne and liberty is actually a really fun game but in arenas even with a 2300 gs I get crapped on by 3k+ players in optimised gear all the time.

Some people surely have spent over 100k$ in that game, theres no way to get some of the gear at the pace they've gotten it without spending an absurd amount of money. I spent like 2-3k and was like 2-5% the item power that some of these guys were and it gets exponentially harder to get stronger items the higher your power is. On the subject at hand though, MMO's isn't ESPORT eye-candy because it's not entertaining to watch as a casual. It's hard to relate to whats going on unless you play PvP in that specific MMORPG. It's fun for us cause we play it but not relatable without having some idea of whats going on. This is why FPS's will always be the king of ESPORTs. The only reason Whales spent that much was because it was the start of the game, now the prices have dropped down to 70% for nearly everything the whales bought at the start for far more expensive. The reason this game is lame and will always be lame is because it does not segment the credit card boys away from the free players. Credit card boys should ONLY EVER face other credit card boys, any other opinion is stupid, wrong, and dumb. The fact that these devs designed the game to allow whales to attack free players is low class trash. The game will not last, the more people play, the more they will realize the reason the game was made. Free players are literally ONLY there to be 1 shot by whales. These MMOs are so interesting to me. We know it “failed” in KR, we know it isn’t the most appealing to the western audience so it is genuinely baffling that people would in theory BURN money on a game that might not have any form of longevity.
