Actually no they haven't. Their quality is awful when compared to car in the same segment. I bought a new 2020 Mazda 3 and the build quality was so bad that Mazda had to buy it back from me. The rear view mirror fell out because of the cheap glue used, the seat controls flopped out because of the cheap plastic tabs holding them into the seat, the glove box is made out of soda bottle plastic, the C pillar on the outside is a sheet of aluminum foil that dents with your finger, the software is full of bugs and glitches, the rear seats won't latch back up because of the cheap latches used, the A/C does not blow cold air because they don't put enough freon....I can go on and on. Total junk.

@@bigmacdaddy1234 Sounds like you got a real lemon. I can't heap enough praise on them. There are three Mazda's in my family and aside from a rotten heater core caused by an apprentice mechanic , they have all been without a single fault. My wife's Mazda 2 is 19 years old. As much as I've been encouraging her to "upgrade", she refuses to part with it. My sister has an '08 Mazda three that she refuse to part with. My last car was a Mazda, my current car is a Mazda, my next car will likely be a Mazda too. I've got to agree with you in regards to the air conditioning. It's not much chop in an Australian summer.

@TomKosCars
@TomKosCars 3 жыл бұрын
@@captinbeyond I don't know which ones are you talking about. But in Miata, Mazda 3, and CX9 (frankly, I have not tried the other ones) you have a rotary volume knob on the center console (much like Audi used to have). And very close to it a bigger rotary knob for the multimedia screen, which you can use to set the radio channels or navigation, etc. (Also very similar to what Audi had before going full iPad). Overall I would say that Mazda is trying and it seems like they are actually employing ergonomic engineers rather than just designers. "Having to go to the display for anything is NOT progress in my book." - I agree, hence I like what is Mazda doing.

@@TomKosCars I just went to a couple videos that show how to set the radio of 2019 Mazda 6 and it clearly states there are NO conventional on/off knobs and no pre-set buttons like on previous generations, You can still set stations but everything is done via the display screen. So I looked at another video of a 2021 Mazda 6 and on the dash there are 2 buttons that look like radio on/off and channel changing knobs but they are in fact the climate control settings. So I'm not sure if you understand what I was wishing for. It is not advancing or making something better for me to have to play with the display for listening to the radio or changing stations.
@TomKosCars
@TomKosCars 3 жыл бұрын
@@captinbeyond Radio on/off/volume is a small knob in the center console, under the shifter. You are right about the radio preset buttons, it takes two steps now. Next to the big knob to control the display, you have a button with a star symbol and that takes you to your favorite radio presets, then you have to choose there. I guess you could drive around with the radio on the screen all the time and that would leave you with one step.

VW didn't even deliver the first production turbo car, that of course was Oldsmoble's 'Jetfire' Cutlass back in 1962... So no, we can't "Thank Volkswagen for that". When searching for a new car in 2016, we had it narrowed down to a Toyota Camry or a VW Passat. Both didnt really wow me or my wife but it was time to get a new car. I always considered Mazda's to be cheapish looking in the mid 2000's (probably due to the partnership with Ford) but Consumer reports had great things to say about the newest generation so we said "why not"? It was more affordable, the quality & reliability we were looking for was there and the look appealed to us much more than the other vehicles we test drove. We purchased our Model 6 and do not regret it one second. We eventually will want to upgrade to a mid-size SUV in a few years and the CX-5 is at the top of our list.

Mazda makes truly superb cars! My family and I have owned several and they've all been outstanding.
